MJ's Road To Fitness

I think it's a good idea to go to an area for pedestrians and bikes only. I'm ok on my bike unless I have to go from being on the road to up on the curb. That's when I fell a couple years ago... I think I didn't go at enough of an angle for getting up on the curb, so now I'm scared to try it again, lol. I try not to involve curbs at all unless I can get on them head on, lol.

Risty! You took a header to a curb?? Yikes! I do not attempt to jump any curbs at this time. LOL

I am really careful when it comes to bumps in the roads, or curbs, or the like. I'm too fat to fall, I'd break something!! LOL

Good luck on your goal of doing a mini triathlon, I did a sprint triathlon about 9 years ago and it was the best accomplishment I ever achieved up to that point. Just wish I knew why I didn't keep it up. Anyway, when you finish it you'll feel great, exhausted but fantastic. I hope you have lots of people there to cheer you on.

Teake1

Why thank you!! I will have 3 gals by my side doing it with me I believe. My sis, Alta, Val, and my BFF I hope.

You should pick it back up!!

I know you're leaving for HI in a bit; Have a terrific time just enjoying life!! I hope to be able to do this soon :) Refresh yourself and your mood and attitude, ahh. So jealous.

Girl, we need to do a vacation together. Can you get away this summer to Cabo San Lucas? I can get a steal on a room, it would only be $200 per person if we get 4 gals to share a room, and that's 7 days at a high end resort. Think about it!!

Hi Everyone!

I am sitting here down by poolside taking advantage of the free wifi. I love it!

Battery is getting low, so I might not get to hit up all of your diaries.

Flew in yesterday, flight was miserable. I was one of the last to get a seat as they overbooked the flight. Got up at 4am to get there early to claim a seat and ended up having to wait over an hour, till the plane was all boarded, and they talked a few out of their seats, and then I was seated! Whaaaat!! I was a ball of stress, but when I got my seat, I was sooo happy. Flight was over 5 hours and they did not serve food!!

I was starving, low blood sugar, and my feet were freezing and starting to swell. Ugh

Got off plane and life got better. I got lay'd right away, and the flowers are just beautiful!

Shuttled to my resort, I got in my room, put my luggage down, freshened up and went searching for food. By this time I feel sick.

I wanted first up a Mai Tai, which I ordered! Yum!! Then as my hungry monster belly is looking over the menu I am so tempted by the selection. Nachos, Quesadillas?? My favorites all there staring me in the face. But no, I tell myself, don't do it!! Weigh in tomorrow!!! Stay strong you hungry beezy!!

So I ordered a salad instead, and it was good! I can't believe it!!

So now that weigh in is over, I am going to have the Nachos today, today is my cheat day, I deserve it, but I also plan on turning up the heat tomorrow, hitting the gym hard!!

I already checked out the fitness center, and it's pretty small, but it has a treadmill and elliptical. I will also do some cardio in the ocean and walking along the beach.

I started reading "Skinny Bitch" in the hotel room and it's a funny book so far. So much cussing in it!! OMGoodness, the author is vulgar, but once you get past that, it's pretty raw and true.

Hope to be down a few more pounds by next Tuesday's weigh in.

There is a free breakfast buffet here at the hotel every morning, with a table full of every doughnut and danish imagineable! You have to pay extra for omlettes!! Doh! At least they have a good selection of fresh fruit, but there is limited options of breakfast cereal, and an asian bar with rice, miso soup, pickled cabbage and green beans. LOL WTH??

I'll stick to the fruit and yogurt the rest of the week I think, I hope!!

Will be back later friends!

Aloha!!!

Man that's my kind of breakfast! Miso and donuts! WOO! lol... I absolutely LOVE japanese food, that's what we had last night.

I'm so jealous of you right now, I just want to go on a trip so bad! Of course I wouldn't have been as strong as you and resisting that food. Hell I'd be in an all inclusive of some sort, lol.

I've heard of that book, but I don't buy many books, I'd rather buy a DVD! lol

Wednesday Update:

I read some more of "Skinny Bitch" last night and am convinced I need to eliminate meat and dairy from my diet, or at least switch up to Organic meat if I cant give it up 100%. Today at the buffet for breakfast I picked up lots of fresh fruit and some rice and miso soup. I also got some kind of cucumber seaweed salad with pickled cabbage. It was pretty good!! I skipped the pastries, cereal, and dairy.

Workouts so far:
Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: 30 min Swim/Snorkel
Wednesday: 65 min Brisk Walk along the beach (3 miles)

I'm off to do the challenge scores and post them. Will be back later to post more updates.

Aloha everyone!!

Keep it up in Hawaii!!! ...You are AMAZING and I hope that you are having a STUPENDOUS time....OOUuuuuUUUUU!!!! BIGGEST WINNER CAMP BABY!!! :D!!!

...lucky bitch.

haha! LET'S GO PINK!!!...I'm hitting it hard at the gym tonight...!!! :iagree:!!!

I would never eliminate a whole food group. I know for one it would be tough to maintain, especially if I like the stuff. I think organic would be the way to go without being extreme. The only thing that would worry me about eliminating a whole food group is not getting enough of their benefits in my diet. I know there would be other things that would give it to you, but you have to be careful you're eating those everyday and enough of them.

I hear ya! By eliminating meat & Dairy, I mean to eliminate them because they contain antibiotics, bacteria, disease, and pesticides. That is why I mean to switch to Organic at least. I don't want to end up being resistant to antibiotics because of the meat I eat. Sick!! Also I am thinkiing of switching to Kosher. I don't agree with the meat industry throwing live pigs into scalding hot water and pushing them under to drown them. I just can't support that, or how they are ripping their guts out by hooking them in the butt to get them down the line while they are still alive. Horrific!! There are more humane ways to kill livestock. So for me it's about doing the right thing, and not just cutting out meat for the sake of it. Did you know they skin cow's while they are still alive? Or even dip live chickens into boiling water and beat the feathers off them while they are still alive. It's disgusting and I need to take a hard look at what my money is contributing too. There just has to be a better way. I read this in "Skinny Bitch" and it made me cry!!

I read Skinny Bitch and I freaking LOVE that book. It made me laugh out loud. And I wanted to stop eating meat afterwards too - brutal what they expose in that book.

Hey, fantastic on the exercise while in Hawaii MJ!! Really impressive, good for you. I'm jealous of the snorkelling. What a great gentle exercise that is.
Enjoy your day tomorrow :)

I think the benefits of organic are many. I was talking to my personal trainer and I truly believe that most of us don't get enough protein. You can actually get enough protein not eating animal meats, but it's very hard. You have to eat a massive quantity of pulses to do so and even things like tofu don't have enough protein unless you eat them in massive quantities. I definitely feel better eating a higher percentage of protein than say, WW recommends but I ofset it by increasing my fibre. I had a massive surprise when I discovered the foods I thought had a lot of fibre (broccoli for example) don't have as much as I thought they did!

Anyway, you're doing amazing in Hawaii and staying away from all those junky things will mean when you get back home you won't feel badly about how you did and you'll be able to pick up where you left off! Well done! I'm so jealous as it was peeing rain/snow/sleet here all day and just miserable!

See you at weigh in on Tuesday!

Do you guys weigh in on Tuesdays too? Me too! *will stalk both your diaries!*

Well done with all the exercise! Have a good weekend! xxx

I knew some bad stuff about the animals killing, but I didn't know all of that stuff. I just wonder if the organic stuff is different in that way? I mean, the animals could be eating healthy things and no antibiotics used or whatever, but are they killed any different? That's what I would want to know.

The animals are suppose to be killed in a humane way, there are laws for livestock, with exception of poultry. The slaughter houses get so busy that livestock gets through without being killed and then they are tortured in their final moments. It's dreadful to learn of it.

I do not know how Organic farmers kill their livestock, but I have heard that Kosher meats are supposedly blessed and the best. I'm going to do more research.

I am still eating meat!! See how I am? I was telling myself, just one more sandwich today! LOL

I am going to do it slowly, and try to find better options.

It's kind of funny that I happened to be listening to this comedy song called "Carrot juice is murder" and it's a song about the murdering of vegetables! lol... It's so funny. It's by the arrogant worms. Anyways...

I think it's good to take it one step at a time and find good alternatives. It'll also give you good research time.
