MJ's Road To Fitness

Sunday Update:

Todays workout: 20 minutes of Biking = 3.5 miles distance traveled.

I bought a used bike today to start training on and one that I can use in my first triathlon in September. I'm so excited! The gal I bought it from only used it a few times, it's still shiny new looking. I love craigslist.com!!! I saved at least $1,000.00 if I had tried to buy a similar bike new.

I just took it out for a ride, and got 3 miles on it before I started to get a tired in my arms of all places. I guess holding my upper body up is going to be some strength training in my arms, chest, and core.

Luckily the bike came with an upgraded cushy saddle seat. Whew! I bought some biking pants that also have cushion too, so my buns weren't hurting too bad.

I can't wait to take it out again!!

So today's first day of bike training was only 20 minutes to go 3.5 miles. I want to pick that up to an hour training so I should be able to travel at least 10 miles in an hour.
 
good to see you picking up the exercise a bit more, it won't take you long to adapt to the bike :)
 
Way to go MissJellyBelly! Keep up the biking. I wish I could do it more often but I'm doing okay with exercising out of the house and keep changing things up so I don't get bored too easily!

Can't wait ot see the show tomorow!
 
I hate the butt pain from bikes, lol. My bike's seat isn't too bad, but it's not the cushiest either. I also don't have biking pants. The first day is usually ok, it's the 2nd or 3rd day you feel the butt bruises, lol.

When I ride a bike, it scares me! I'm definitely not as comfortable with it as I was when I was a kid. Curbs absolutely terrify me! Especially since I took a spill one day biking to work a couple years ago, lol.
 
How fun!! My little sister and I bought some new bikes this last summer. Used it once. lol. I think the problem was we were wayyy to gung ho our first ride. My ass wasn't the same for a week. So, when spring finally comes around and gets nice, I think I need to buy a chubby girl seat and start on it again.

Thanks!! I don't get out of the house enough to exercise, I am usually in the gym watching the tube. It feels good to be out and one with nature. lol

LoL Risty!! I hear ya on the booty bruisin! You'd think with all my cushion I'd be good without bike pants, but nope! Gotta build up the booty to withstand the crushing. I am afraid of cars, but the biking part is fun fun fun!!

LMAO! Too funny Jess! You should definitely get a better seat and the bike shorts or pants with the built in cushion, it makes a world of difference!!

Who knows, maybe you'll get strong enough on the bike and walking to do a triathlon with me next year!! Alta is suppose to do one with me in September in Santa Cruz, CA. I can't wait!
 
Tuesday Update:

Today is the weigh in for the challenge and I lost 1 more pound last week! Slowly it is coming off. This week better be way more!

I'm planning on stepping up the exercise and really focusing on diet.

So far so good this week. I'm about to put on my workout clothes and go for a walk/jog for an hour so I can do some more training and also add some more mileage to my ticker!!

Oh man, that sounds like fun! Well, not really FUN lol, but definately challenging. I am 100% committed to getting into shape enuf to do one of these eventually!

40 min Treadmill = 2.09 miles

30 min Elliptical

I am beat!! Watching Biggest Loser right now! LOvin' it!!

Great workout! Go you :) I hate hate hate treadmills... dunno why tho.Just one of those things I guess :rolleyes: I haven't watched this weeks BL yet, but I DID finally get to see last weeks- wow. Everytime Melissa opens her mouth I pretty much wanna slap her, hahah!
 
I'm so glad to see someone else struggling so hard! It's a great inspiration to know others are facing the same challenges as me as no one in my 'real life' is dieting or trying to get fit. Most of them already are!

So, keep up the good work!

I am doing a small triathlon to start with. I know I can handle a 2.5 mile run and an 11 mile bike ride, and a short swim. Think about it!! Maybe next year you can fly out and join us!

I do love the treadmill, I guess I like the ease of it and not having to watch were I am stepping. lol

Oh Melissa does got a mouth on her, that's for sure!! Wait until you see last night's episode!! Watch out for spoilers in the challenge thread!
