Mizzie's Journey to Being Healthy

Hey Mizzie congrats on the further weight loss!! Good going!! I feel very behind you - especially when there was a while where I was within 10lbs of chasing you through the 180s. But what the hey, I'll catch up at some stage!

How far have you gone down size-wise in clothes now?

Yay on the tax refund! Enjoy rolling around on your new mattress knowing you made the taxman buy it for you!

Hey Mizzie! Great to hear from you again!!! What kind of bed did you get? We really need to get a new bed as well - ours is ancient. But we've been putting it off until we know for sure the kids are old enough to be past the crawling into bed with us stage, and the possible bed wetting stage. Every once in a while someone has an accident in the middle of the night still, but thank goodness not in our bed!

Congrats on the whoosh!

jjjay - lol, thanks! You'll get there, don't worry about it. I'm actually amazed that this has gone so well for me. As far as my clothes, I'm still in an x-large shirt (down from XXX-large when I started) and size 16 pants for the most part (started at 20-22). Some of my size 16 pants fit perfect now and some are getting baggy. I'm sort of hoping to end up in a size 12 or so, but we'll see.

Tigpuppy - We got a Simmons pillow top. It's pretty nice. Not "top of the line" but not the very bottom either. Oh, and as far as the possible bed wetting goes, we got a mattress protector (the brand is GBS Enterprises). It's supposed to be completely water proof, plus it doesn't trap dust mites like the old cotton ones did. Oh, and it's machine washable and has a 10 year warranty.

It was kind of spendy, $75, but I think it'll be worth it. 10 years from now, our mattress will still be like brand new as far as stains and such goes. It's only like $7.50 per year, if you think of it that way. Plus, if you buy it at the same time as a mattress (like, it's on the same receipt) they will replace your mattress if a stain does get through in those 10 years.

Oh, and it doesn't crinkle like those old plastic ones people used to put on kid beds.

Lol, I swear I don't work for the company nor do I get money for advertising them. I just though it was a really good idea and I'm glad we got it. Just something to think about. We got our mattress at Slumberland and they had the protectors there.

Gah, I'm so irritated. I know I'm going to be up this week for my weigh in and I'm super angry about that because I really don't think I should be.

Ok, yeah, I peeked at the scale Monday and I was up to nearly 157 and today I'm at 156.5 or so. And I don't really get where that came from. I did go a little overboard on eating over the weekend, but best guess still puts me under maintenance calories, so I shouldn't have gained. And I haven't been eating more salt than normal and I've been getting my water and it's not my TOM, so what the heck? I haven't been exercising much lately, but I don't think that's it because I adjusted my calories accordingly.

I'm just super pissy about it because I'm so very close to my goal. I want so bad to see that turtle shoot past the 150 mark. That will put me at a healthy BMI. And I want even more to be able to change that 150 and set a new big goal (probably 135).

Ok, so something needs to change, I guess. I suppose the first thing is to get back to exercising. I was doing so well for so long, but lately it's really been a struggle and I don't really go much at all. I know that's a problem and that would help me lose faster, stay healthier and keep me on track. I have been busy and stressed lately, so that's part of it. But the bigger part is me being lazy and just not making myself go. Someone want to come kick my butt for me? I need it right now.

Thanks for the info on the bed! That'll be useful in the near future - especially about the cover. I always thought the only thing around to cover the mattress with were those aweful plastic things - which I HATE!!!

Sorry you're so frustrated with your weight - some days I think I have it figured out where I know A + B - C = D, but then you step on the scale all that goes right out the window because the stupid thing tells you a number that makes no sense at all!!!

You've come so far already - and know what you need to do to get the rest of the way there. But it's easier said than done, isn't it? I know it is for me.

I hope you find your willpower again to keep going. Good luck!

Hey Mizzie!! You are still doing so great and in the 150's must feel so empowering! I bet exercise will help with the stress and once you get into a routine of going again regularly it won't seem like work. It will also help with your energy!
Your new bed sounds great - I love my bed too so I know what that's like! Sleeping is important to weight loss so it was worth whatever it cost!!
Take care and keep it up!!!

Tig - Gah, those plastic liners are awful, aren't they? This does have a plastic layer, but it's also covered with a thin cloth so your sheets don't slid against it AND it doesn't crinkle like the old ones do.

And yeah, I hate when you do 1 and 2 and you think it's going to add up to 3 but it doesn't.

Lisa - Thanks. It does feel good to be in the 150's. But now I can't wait to get into the 140s, lol. Seems like it's always that way, huh? We wait and work and hope until we get down to the next tier, but then we can't wait to get out of it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway, I'm still motivated to lose weight. I mean, I didn't come all this way to give up when my goal is in sight! I just hate it when I do everything right (or at least pretty well) and it doesn't work out. Oh well, all I can do at this point is be good the rest of the day, take whatever number comes at me tomorrow and vow to make next weeks weigh in better. Nothing else for it, right?
On an unrelated note, I am super excited because I'm taking a sushi class tonight! It's one of those community ed things, but the teacher is the chef at a really nice restaurant in town. Should be fun.
Oh, and if anyone is doing Nanowrimo, I'm doing that his year as well. Lol, I'm busy. It's kind of nuts. But I'm going to give it a go. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically where you try to write a 50,000 word "novel" completely within the month of November. (it's cheating to start early) It's a lot of fun, but very hard. I "won" in 2007, which just means that I completed 50,000 words. I started last year, but didn't make it. I'm late this year, just started today, but I'm going to give it a shot. I have a good idea for a story. Anyway, I'm "mizzie" over there too, if anyone else is doing it.
Also, I didn't exercise today, but that's mostly because I didn't want to get all sweaty before my sushi class, and I wanted to write and get laundry done. Hopefully tomorrow.
Ugg, so I may not be around as much this month. Nanowrimo is eating my soul. lol It takes a lot of time, but at least I'm starting to catch up on my word count.
Anyway, in other news: My weigh in didn't go quite as horribly as I was afraid it would last week. I was at 155.6, which was a 0.2 pound loss. Not great, not even good really, but at least it wasn't a gain. So, that week's over and we are starting anew. I think this week will be ok, I'm hoping for at least 1 pound. I'd really like to see 2-3 because that's what it would take to make my mini goal, but oh well. I just want to see it moving down again.
Hey there! Glad to see you stopping in! Just keep on keeping on! You're getting there!
A loss is a loss no matter what the size, right?
Yeah, I have been super busy. I shouldn't even be on here now since I have about 14 things on my to do list for today and it's also my hubby's birthday so we will be going out for dinner. Gah!
I'm also super frustrated because I seem to have gotten out of one plateau just to fall into another. For the whole month of October (4 weeks) I didn't lose so much as an ounce. Then I lost 2.8 pounds in one week two weeks ago... and nothing since. :banghead: I'm super frustrated and at a loss for what to do about it.
So, I've decided that I'm not really going to track calories this week, knowing full well that I'll eat more then I should. But I'm not letting myself go nuts, it's not a week of free days or anything, just a week off from the weight loss thing. I'm still going to stop eating when I'm not hungry anymore, eat my healthy food, limit snacks, ect. Best guess is that I'll fall somewhere between my calorie limit and my maintanence calories. I'm hoping it'll kind of shock my body out of this plateau so I can get back to losing. After nearly 2 full months of plateaus, I am ticked off and the closest I've come to wanting to quit since I've started.
Don't worry, I'm not quitting. I just need to do something because this is driving me nuts. It'd be one thing if I knew full well that I had cheated or something, but I haven't. I've been good, tracked every bite, got some extra calorie burning in when I could, drank my water and still can't lose anything.
New number I officially hate: 155.8
I seem to remember being stuck at that number for a very long time as well. I don't know about you, but when I first started losing it was pretty steady. Now I seem to have plateau after plateau the closer I got to my goal. DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! :cuss:
Tigpuppy - Oh god, don't say that. I'm going crazy and the one shred of hope is that once I start moving again it'll keep moving. It wouldn't be so bad if I really wanted to stop at 150, but that's just my goal to get healthy. I really want to get down to about 135 or so for vanity reasons. That's another 20 pounds and at this rate, it'd take a year to get there! :cry:
healthyjess - Thanks for the words of encouragement!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, my week of not tracking went fine. Weighed in at 155.4, which is technically a 0.2 loss, but I don't really count that since I can fluctuate more then that in 10 minutes. But I didn't gain and I'm hoping that going back to tracking and hitting the exercise hard this week will shock my body out of this. I'm just getting so discouraged!

Keep it up Mizzie - just look at how far you have come!!! It will get started again, you just need to keep focused!

I just wanted to pop in and say that I just bought a pair of size 14 jeans... and they fit! :hurray: I was literally dancing in the dressing room. My size 16s have been getting pretty baggy, so I thought I would go try them on. ^_^

At this rate, if I do get down to my vanity goal of 135, I'll be in size 12s or maybe even... :eek: 10! I haven't been size 10 since high school.

And I bet you look HOT in them too! Congrats on moving down to the next size girl!

Lol, I don't know about hot, but I do think they look nice.

Does anyone else have problems finding clothes now that they've lost weight? I thought this would get easier, but it kind of hasn't. For example, I walk into my local JC Penney's today. I know where the "Women" sizes are (XL and up) and I know where the little girl's section is, and the teen section and what I call the "old lady" stuff. But where are my clothes???

I couldn't, for the life of me, find an area of the store that seemed to be geared toward my age and weight. All I wanted to find was a nice sweater to wear tomorrow, but out of the sweaters they did have, they were either "too old" for me, "too young" for me, too casual or too big. *sigh*

So, I'm going to get my pie crusts going as they have to rest in the fridge for an hour and go to the mall to try and find something. I want to wear something nice tomorrow (with my new jeans!), but all the nice shirts I have are either work shirts or way too big for me.

Hi Mizzie - Last time I lost weight I had the same problem! In Target here, there's the 'young' section, 'fat' section, 'fat granny' and the 'old'. I couldn't find anything either!
Congratulations on getting to the 14's :) That's AWESOME!
I can't wait to get out of the 16's...

Well done!!! Hope you find some new tops somewhere soon :coolgleamA:
