Mizzie's Journey to Being Healthy

So, I had a GREAT weigh in for the BL challenge!!! It's not official until tomorrow (for the mini goal), but this morning I weighed in at 189, which is 30.8 pounds lost! AND that was a 4.2 pound loss for the challenge this week. O_O I'm starting to feel like I'm melting or something. Some small part of me is thinking "should I be worried about this?" but a much bigger part is going "Wooooooooo Hooooooooo!!!!!!!" XD It seems like I just flew through the 190's, seriously.

And that means that I'm only about 10 pounds away from being "overweight" instead of obese. I can't wait to hit that milestone!

Haha, gotta love those times where the body feels like its changing daily. Its all a result of effort you input, so enjoy yourself! I also think its funny when you can brag that you are FINALLY technically just overweight. I've been watching that number on my scale too haha!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure my thighs are thinner. You know how when you sit down they sort of squish out to the sides? Well, mine don't squish out quite as far as they used to. And I'm thinking that my upper arms don't seem to flop quite as much.

Haha yep. I've caught myself staring at my thighs when I sit down, and remembering how I always thought they were naturally a different shape. Turns out there supposed to be round! o_0 Still, I figure that the body is just taking some extra down there before it starts working on the rest of my body, and I just need to have faith that when I hit that FINAL stretch goal number, my body will have adjusted to the look I want :p

Hope you have fun with your visitor! Have a good week Miz!

Lisa - Thanks! Only one hour to go until I'm done with work. So excited! And I'll need the butt kicking on Monday, so I'm glad you'll be here to do it!

Andy - I have to say, I really do love this time now. I don't know what exactly is going on, but I seem to really be getting good numbers lately. LOL, about the round thighs. I know what you mean though. I didn't know it was possible for mine to still be round when I sit and not squished out flat-ish. I'm glad though, I've always hated my thighs.

Have a great rest of the week everyone! See you all on Monday!!!

Just popping in real quick before I have to leave to pick up my friend. I wanted to say that I succeeded on my mini goal! I weighed in at 188.8 this morning, which is exactly 31 pounds lost. ^_^ Now I can vacation with a clear mind, since I've earned another "free day" by losing another 10 pounds. Not that I'm going to take 5 of them! But the extra cheat here and there during the rest of the week will probably equal one free day.

Anyway, have a great week everyone!!!

So awesome you met your goal - way to stick with it Mizzie!! You totally deserve a free day! I'll be here Monday to kick your butt so don't think about hiding! Enjoy your time with your friend - I'll be thinking about you!

Whoo Hoo 31lb that is amazing!!!! you are doing so great and also catching up to me!!!! Keep up the great work! Enjoy your weekend!

Hey Mizzie! Looking forward to hearing about your weekend - I hope it was as much fun as it planned to be! Time to get back to it - a new day, a new week and lots of memories from the weekend! Water, water, water!!:waving:

Hi everyone! I'm not in hiding, I swear! I just have actually been a little busy the last couple days.

Anyway, the vacation was SO much fun! I don't think I did too horribly on food, concidering. One or two days were pretty much right on, the rest were around maintanence. I don't know exactly, but that's my best guess. I weighed the same today as I did for the BL challenge last week, so at least I didn't go up.

Wednesday I picked E up at the airport. The first thing she said to me was "Holy cow, you've lost weight!" lol Of course, she does know that I have been working on it and she knows how much and all, but still. It was fun to hear. She pointed out that my clothes are just hanging on me, which was true, actually. We went to the Mall of America and she loved it. It's funny, I take it for granted, but it really is huge. It was fun to see it through someone else's eyes.

Thursday we went to Duluth and the Glensheen mansion. Always a lot of fun! We also got to see a ship come into harbor, which is neat. We didn't walk around as much as planned this day though, because it was pouring rain.

Friday we went to my mom's so she could meet E. Had a very yummy, but probably horrible for me, lunch there. Mom's hotdish, no idea on calories! Drove E around town a bit to show her some of the places special to me growing up.

Saturday we went to Itasca so E could see the headwaters of the Mississippi River. We walked across the rocks at the headwaters, which is tradition. The water was FREEZING! But it's all good. Had a picnic lunch of grilled pork sandwiches. We also climbed the fire tower which is 100 feet tall, so there's some good stair climbing. Oddly, DD wasn't in a very good mood so we didn't hike as much as we might have. Bummer.

Sunday we relaxed in the morning, then I had to drive E back down to the cities to catch her plane. I was sad to see her go, but also kind of vacationed out, if you know what I mean. I just wanted to relax when I got home (after a 6 hour drive round trip to the airport!), but hubby had accidentally flooded the bathroom while changing the water in the fish tank. I wound up staying up really late helping him clean it up. *sigh*

So, I didn't get up to exercise yesterday because I knew I wasn't going to get enough sleep as it was. Then, hubby came home with the flu yesterday and took today off, so I won't make it to the exercise room tonight because I'll have to pick up DD from daycare. Oh well, I'll see what I can do while watching BL tonight.

One cool thing though, E wanted to watch our wedding video since she couldn't make it to the wedding last year. I didn't really think that my weight loss showed much, but when I saw myself on the video (and the wedding photos) I could really see it. I mean, really, really see it!!! Especially in my arms. E kept pointing it out too ("See? You've lost a ton of weight!"). It just really made me realize that it does show, which was fun.

Anyway, I'd better get back to work. I won't really have time to catch up much on other diaries today. Sorry. Maybe tomorrow.

glad to see you back! I'm just heading out myself and don't have time to read your post but will have more time tomorrow - enjoy the BL tonight! Chat tomorrow.

Of course your weight loss shows you gorgeous thing you! You've done so well and i'm glad to have you back :D Have a beauuutiful week!

Hey Mizzie! Duluth is where I bought my wedding dress! I love driving there to shop - it's about 4 hours from where I live. I have never visited that mansion however I see it everytime we drive in so maybe one of these times I will check it out - do you mind me asking how much it costs to visit?
Sounds like you had a lot of fun with your girlfriend and it's so great you can now see the changes you have been making! Are you still tired from the vacation? I find it takes me a week to get back to reality. Dont' forget your water intake to get some energy back. hopefully you were able to burn some calories during BL -it was a really motivating episode! Take care and keep it up!

Sunflower - Lol, thanks. I guess it's because I see myself every day, I really, honestly, didn't see it. And I didn't believe hubby when he said he could see it. I should really take a pic of myself now and grab one of the wedding pics to post here. There really is a difference. I did take some "before" pics, but I didn't take very good ones. I wore baggy clothes. I should have done it in my swimming suit or something, to really show the difference.

Xenon - Thanks! Me too! lol This is officially the lowest I've weighed since I was on the way up. Probably about 8 or 9 years ago. I don't know exactly, I never weighed myself. I can't wait until I get in the 170's, then I'll officially be "overweight"! ^_^

Lisa - Really? That's so cool! I love Duluth, it's such a fun town. We go there quite often and do the tourist thing. You really should check out Glensheen, it's amazing. Of course, I really just love seeing how people lived in other times (and other places too, for that matter). The house is really beautiful though and it's something to see. Try to go on a nice day though, so you can walk around the grounds as well.

I don't remember exactly what the tickets run, but I think it's about $15 a person for the main tour and $26 for the extended tour. On that one, you get to go to the third floor and the attic. They don't do that with every tour, because there is only one flight of stairs up and it's a fire hazard if there are too many people.

Ugg, the week back at work after a vacation is the worst! I'm so glad it's Thursday, only today and tomorrow to go. The weather has been so beautiful, I wish we could go camping this weekend, but we have the phone for our caretaking job, so we have to stick around here. Oh well, maybe we can go for a walk in the park or something. I just feel like I have to get outside.

I snuck a peek at the scale this morning and I think I'm going to have an ok week. At first I was really suprised by that because it feels like this week has been horrible. But when I looked back, it wasn't bad at all. Ok, I've missed a few workouts, but eating has been just fine. I think what's throwing me off is that I don't feel like I made much effort, when in reality I have, I'm just used to it now. Eating this way is finally just becoming normal to me. It's a weird feeling. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right.

On the flip side, I'm getting to the point where I want to take my DVDs and throw them out the window. The thing is, they are really good DVDs. They work every muscle in the body and include a lot of weight lifting (about 75% of the dvd, I'd say, with the rest being cardio and abs) so I know it's good for me. But I'm so throughly sick of them. And I'm sick of waking up early, too. Plus, the girls on the dvds are just do darn chipper. Why do they have to be so chipper?

I don't know if this is just the "back from vacation blues" or something else, but I couldn't bring myself to do them this week. Well, if you hate your exercise routine, change it. Right?

Well, I'm not a runner. I've never been a runner. I was really impressed with myself when I ran for one minute a few weeks ago. Seriously. But I've heard so many people here talking about the Couch to 5K program and I thought I would give it a try. I'd like to be able to run, really. So I looked it up and then went to the exercise room last night to give it a go. I had the treadmill at 3.5 for the walking part and 6 for the running. Damn, running is hard! (lol, yeah, I knew that already) I couldn't get through the full 20 minutes, only about half, but I tried. I gave it my best. After that I went for a brisk walk outside as a cooldown.

It might take me more than a week to get through week 1, but I'll give it a shot. Or maybe I'll hate it and try to find something else. But for right now it's what I'm going with. I am going to look around the local gyms and see if any offer classes I could take without having to sign up for the gym. I'd rather not have to pay for a membership since I have the exercise room for free, but I think having a class to go to, with people who will see if I'm there or not, might help. And maybe I can meet someone to push me on.

I agree that switching up your routine is a must! I get bored so easy and if I don't find something else I just become lazy for a while. I totally understand how you could be sick of those dvd's every morning! I think trying the running program is a great idea - even if it takes you a month to complete week 1 that is still better than nothing! I signed up to an aerobics class at our college once and that was really fun - they did something different every class so it never got boring. Cycling is really fun too! I'm excited to hear what you find. Thanks for the info on the mansion - I think me and my hunnie are going to go sometime this summer and do some touristy things - normally I just go to the mall and Kohl's and sometimes Target. Keep it up - next week will be better!

Hey There

I totally know what you mean by being bored with your workouts. For a couple of months my cardio was running up and down the stairs and I just can't do it anymore...so I am trying to get my bike all fixed up and I can take the kids for a ride and do my workout at the same time!! I also have the P90X at home hubby bought it and never used it so maybe I will try that since there is like 9 dvd I think it may take a while to get bored with it. Taking up running is great I wish I had a threadmill at home so I could use it and try the couch to 5k, Running is fun!! Taking a class should be great to and it something social at the same time and since you are not home and paying for it you will mostly kick you self in the behind to show up at those clases!

Grr, this is why I need to stop stepping on the scale every day! I weighed in at 188.2, which is 1 pound down from last week. Yeah, I know that's an ok weigh in, especially after last week with my friend here and all. But when I peeked yesterday it was 187.6, so I went up since then. Plus, I just really wanted to see 187.something. Bla... That's it, no peeking this week! I'm sick of being disappointed on weigh day because it was lower earlier in the week.

The weather was nice last night, so we went for a walk. Not the most hard core exercise, but it was nice to get out. I tried to keep up the pace though, but hubby kept strolling along. Ok, I know it's just a nice little walk outside with his family to him, but to me it was my workout. Oh well, it was better then sitting around the house either way.

I'm going to try the Couch to 5K again tonight. We'll see how I do. I'm a bit worried about it, because my shins don't feel right today. They don't hurt, exactly, but I can feel them when I walk, which isn't normal. If it hurts, I'll stop running and go for a bike ride instead. Or maybe lift weights. I just wish they'd fix the darn TVs in the exercise room!!! Yeah, I have an iPod, but I like having the TV on. It gives me something to look at so I don't sit and watch the time. I e-mailed the manager weeks ago, but she just said they were "working on it". Yeah, ok, because it takes a month to fix the cable.

I'm getting together with a friend I haven't seen in a few months on Sunday and I'm excited to see her. She e-mailed and asked what I wanted to do, listing "go out for a drink", "go out for ice cream" and "take a walk" as a few ideas. I wrote back and suggested we take a walk. I know she and her hubby are pretty into fitness and I think she was happy with that choice. I'm excited to get out and walk with someone else and of course I'm hoping she'll notice that I've lost weight. I just hope it doesn't rain.

I checked the local YMCA's website for classes they offer. It looks like they do have quite a few, but most are during the day. I did see one that was listed at 6:30, but it doesn't say if that's am or pm. If it is pm, I'll look into that if I can afford it, but if it's am that won't work. I haven't had a chance to check the other local gyms though, so we'll see. The friend who I'll see on Sunday is a member of a different gym, so I can ask her if they offer anything also.

Anyway, things to do. If I don't make it back here today, have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Mizzie!!! A loss is a loss- it means you're 1lb closer to your goal!!! Be proud even if it wasn't quite what you were hoping!!!

I love running, good luck on the couch to 5k program! Have a great weekend!
