Well, I read in an article that setting the incline of a treadmill on 2 simulates running outside. So that's what I do. In about 30 minutes of running, I can usually get 2.5 to 3 miles done. The route I chose for my run yesterday is relatively flat with the exception of 1 hill (short but very steep), so naturally, I think this shouldn't be too hard until I tackle going uphill. Wow, was I wrong!!! I figured out that I can't pace myself when running outside. I got over ambitious and after a half mile, I thought I was going to die! My chest hurt so bad and I had a nasty cough the rest of the night. What I ended up doing was alternating walking and jogging at ~half mile intervals. I finished 2 miles then tried out my new jump rope. Yeah, I have some practicing to do with that too. By the end, I was starting to get my timing down with the jumping. I thought it would be like riding a bike, but I guess coordination can be lost! All in all, I got a good workout, and now I've given myself something to work for. I think I'll be doing my cardio sessions on this route until I can run the whole thing. That's my new goal. By the end of April, I want to be able to run those 2 miles without stopping.
Thanks for the encouragement. Have a great day!!
