Hey Kim, just checking in on you while I wait for my DELAYED by 2 hours flight back home from Miami. I guess I'm now part of the delayed planes statistic.

Have you ever tried doing a high protein diet while limiting the carbs? Bikinibound is doing this one where you only eat 30 carbs (NOT including fiber, which you can have as much as you like) for 5 days then lots of carbs on the weekends? It just occurred to me when I saw you always eating oatmeal, cereal and peanut butter jelly sandwiches (a blast from the past: my elementary school days LOL). I'm thinking about trying this to get myself losing. Supposedly it makes the bodies hormones react better to burning fat but its also supposed to kill your appetite and you dont need to worry on that front. Ah, who knows if it works though.
 
The city water here is sometimes scary. Sometimes i turn on the tap and suddenly feel like I'm sniffing a swimming pool.

I hope you were not delayed to long. I've never tried just focusing in on one type of diet food. I don't think it would work for me, for ONE reason. I don't want to give up any food or group to lose weight. I really want to use calorie watching and good ole' excercise to get rid of the chubby butt! Okay, so it's working on the chubby butt, because that part of my body is just about vanished. LOL LOL Seriously Cita, I think it's our age girlfriend, and the fact that we spilled out a few kids and well, our bodies are never going to look like we were 15 years ago that's for sure. I've settled my thoughts to thinking that healthy feeling, is better than anything. And I'm feeling so much better. I'm just going to continue hitting the gym hard, as at least I like doing it. And eat in moderation, because you know there are spirts I go through for lunch, when I don't want a PBJ or oatmeal, I'll just have chicken or a salad. I'm always changing that up here and there. But.... if you decide to do that carb thing, PLEASE let me know how it works, because if I see you melting away, I'm going to join that band wagon. You know I will!!!! Have a safe trip!
 
Hi ya Kim! I thought I'd pop over here and check in on you...I have gotten so far behind on reading diaries....I have been so slammed with work! Today is a tad better. I have two big projects OFF my desk! :)

Glad you are getting so much variety in your excercise! Keeps it fresh! :D
 
I think I'm going to try the 5 day protein/2 day carb diet starting on monday and see how long I can do it. I definitely would not make a lifestyle out of eating like this that's for sure. I just want to get this extra weight off and then return to eating healthy in moderation (as much as I can manage that) and keeping up with the exercise. I'm definitely one who understand maintenance can be as difficult as losing, and you certainly need to be forever vigilant.

I was looking pretty good just 4 years ago at age 35, but of course that was pre-baby. I just don't work out consistently or eat as little as I should (I over eat a lot on weekends), so I was hoping to find something that would keep my appetite in check and not make me gain weight if I eat more on the weekends (since that's my bad pattern). Obviously you cant have thousands of calories on the weekends -- we all know those kind of silly diets dont work -- but you are supposed to fill up on carbs 2 times per week so hopefully my weekend mini binges can somehow be worked into me losing weight? I can only hope.
 
Okay, I wish I had something incredibly smart or wonderful to say today, but I don't. I feel like crap to be honest with you, I just started. UGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having some major cramps and I'm tired. LMAO, what else would you feel like if you started right. LOL LOL I'm currently at work, and on my lunch break. I can't wait for the next 3 hours to fly by so I can get the heck out of dodge! I'm ready to go home NOW!!!!!! All I want to do is cuddle up on the recliner with a nice blanket, turn on the tv and watch all the past shows on have saved on the DVR. LOL LOL I have no desire to workout at all today, and who cares! LOL LOL, I have a full weekend ahead of me. I need to do a lot of little odds and ends stuff, which we all know to well, takes forever!!!! Maybe I'll head over tomorrow to my girlfriends for some down time and wine drinking, that might help lift me up a bit, it always does. :) Don't worry, I rarely go over my calories for the day when I do that. As I tend to just drink a couple glasses, have a few light snacks and I'm done for!! "Sleepy city" usually follows shortly thereafter, I'm a light weight, that's all. They say another small thunderstorm is supposed to sneak in tonight, so it's probably a good day to visit anyways. Last night my hubby and I got home late, we had to head down to Turner Falls, and pick up our son, who was spending the day with his girlfriend and family. Not a real exciting drive to be honest, my hubby was already exhausted, because we left right after work, and he was TIRED! it was a 55 mile drive, straight south, so it took almost an hour. By the time we got back home it was LATE, he went straight to bed and passed out in seconds, I went out to the living room, so I wouldn't disturb him and watched some Ghost Hunters I recorded early in the week. Then I went to bed and did the same. GONE IN SECONDS! Hehehhe Well, I better get going I have a little to do before 3, everyone have a very nice weekend!!

I'm glad to see you noticing changes in your body. Yesterday after my long walk I peeled down to my sports bra and had a closeup view of my midsection. Lots there. Oh well, I'm going for the endorphin rush that makes it all tolerable.
 
Kim, if you're not planning any more children right now you may want to try the Merena IUD. After 2 or 3 cycles of heavier than usual periods, you end up with practically NOTHING anymore. I used to be very regular and now I have no idea when I'm even getting it because its like THREE DROPS, if at all! I can catch everything with a panty liner, and lately I've had nothing at all. So when you girls are going on about your monthly issues, I can't relate anymore. Boo hoo for me.

Yeah, I'm feeling so sorry for you Cita, LOL LOL Mine actually is not bad at all!! I have typically one day of cramps and 3 days of light flow. BIG DEAL, I have so many girlfriends who have it ten times worse, so I'm not complaining at ALL!! I just feel like shit warn over the first day. HAHAHA Nothing a little wine and cuddling up on the lounger won't cure. I do tend to put on some major water weight however, and that sucks! but after it's over I return to my old self. LOL LOL I'll keep that IUD in mind however, it might come in useful some day. And LORD YES, I'm done child rearing now. I've raised two boys, I've had my share of fun. LOL LOL Now I just enjoy all the friends and their babies, AHHHH they are so cute and even better when I don't have to get up in the middle of the night with them too. :) I got my t-shirt, it's spoiling time for me now. HAHAHAAHA

...I do work hard at the gym, but my whole mind set is, if my butt is spending so much time at the gym and less time with my family, then my gosh I'm going to work my ass to the bone while I'm there, so at least I wont feel guilty about it, does that make sense??...

:eek: I was hoping your children were old enough now for you to be over that! Because I'm hoping I will be, by the time mine are that age, I suppose... Ah well. Regardless of the reason behind it, I still find it great value to read about your massive efforts. :)
 
Thanks Everyone!! I did have a nice weekend. My hubby and I spent Saturday morning/mid afternoon doing yard work, then we packed up and headed over to our friends for a nice cookout, we had these fabulous burgers, oh my word!! Don't worry, I didn't over do it on the calories as I really didn't eat much at all before we went, actually I don't think I had breakfast that morning either. But it was fun, and then we got home about 10, and watched some tv. Sunday, we got up early and hung out together, then he went outside and finished up some trimming and other odds/ends work. I went a head and trimmed did a little out door stuff myself, then we cleaned out our pantry, (SO EXCITING RIGHT) and that was our Sunday. I'm hoping this week will be a good work out week for me, I didn't put my all into all of last week, because I started and well, I felt like crap. Now, I'm feeling better and it's just about gone, and I'm ready to rock it at the gym tonight!! I need to update my ticker on those missing 3lbs, YEAH I hope it doesn't take another 2 months to lose another 2-3 pounds my gosh, that's just crazy!! We have the OK state fair coming up and I'm excited about that, we love to roam around the venders and check out home made stuff. OH YEAH!! nothing really planned for the day, except for work as usual. I'm going to do a little running at the gym tonight then groove class. I think we were invited out for another cook out on Saturday, so we will probably go do that. Well, that's about it my friends, I hope you all have a great day today!! Hi Kim, I'm so proud of you for the lost pounds! 3 gone and I'm so happy. It's just so gratifying to see a smaller number on the scale, and you deserve it, you workout all the damn time, as well as diet. I hope you have a great time at the fair! Wish you could come hang with me soon, we're having a Blues Festival in September, I know you'd love that. ;) Alright have a nice day Kim!

Thanks girls, I just updated my ticker, I think it's actually a pound less, but I'll post that in another week. I can't believe it's taken me nearly 5 months to lose 20 lbs, how sad is that. HAHAHAHA I work out huge too, that's the sad part. But, I'm not complaining, at least I'm losing, even if it's slowly!! I'll take a pound a month, that would be AWESOME!, then maybe it will stay off for life!
 
They say that is the way to go. Slow but sure wins the race.
Congrats on the weight~loss. You certainly deserve it after all your hard work.
