Mika's Diary

Yeah I know they are lower than most peoples, but for some reason I've just never been a big eater. Pretty much throughout my entire life I've always kept it way under 1000, any more and I feel insanely bloated and dizzy, actually passed out a couple times when going out for meals. It's taken a long time to be able to eat 800 per day, and that fills me up quite a lot and gives me plenty of energy! So considering that the aim despite it not being healthy for most people.

With such a low calorie target it becomes much more important to be making sure your hitting your nutritional targets with strict tracking, the reason it is generally not recommended to go below 1200 is that it becomes very hard to get all your required nutrients so food selection becomes critical.

Thank you, I take multi-vitamins daily, and have taken iron suppliments most of my life. Trying to eat fully healthy options, and no snacks. Any food reccomendations would be appreciated, as long as they arent too pricey and will be available in a small town with only 2 proper supermarkets! :)

Day 25/26

Food Diary:
Yesterday went well. Had a nice lie in and had a boiled egg for breakfast with tomatoes and mushrooms, and a salmon fishcake around 4pm - it was quite big and around 350cal. Had some chocolate because a lovely customer at our shop bought me a huge bar for easter! I had about 1/4 and gave another 1/4 to my friend. Still got half of it left, and the whole thing is 1000 cal. Had a plum and some breaded shrimp late afternoon.
Whole day was about 850 cal.

Today so far had another plum for breakfast because I was running late, some risotto for lunch, and going to have a jacket potato with vegetables and possibly the rest of the breaded shrimp later on. - Altogether approx 800cal

Exercise Diary:

Yesterday I managed a whole hours worth of jogging in 5 minute bursts, whilst going for a long walk. I tried to walk fast paced for the majority of it, so it was approx 1 hour jogging and 40 minutes walking at a brisk pace. Had a day off doing weights due to shortage of time.

Today so far I've had a 40 minute walk and 15 minutes of jogging, but going for another walk a bit later as it's much lighter outside now the clocks have changed! Done 20 minutes of 5kg dumbbells which are suddenly feeling REALLY easy to lift so going to buy some heavier ones after getting paid!

Wow, your calories are really low and yet you're doing substantial exercise. I read your post about always being a light eater. I was a light eater as a child too. Maybe i'll have to get back to that. Currently fighting my way down from 1500 cals a day. May i ask how old you are? I'm 51. You don't have to say if you're not comfortable -- i know some people are really sensitive about their age.

Hi :) I'm 27! Whilst I feel it might be dangerous for a lot of people to eat the small amount that I do, I've pretty much done it all my life so it doesn't seem to affect me at all. To be honest, before starting this diet, I'd often be so caught up in work that I'd completely forget to eat for entire days sometimes. And when I did eat, I didn't really care much about what it was. The exercise I'm able to do now is down to eating healthier, and possibly much more than I used to. It was difficult at first, but after a month it's gotten much easier :)

1500 cal might be a perfect amount for you, as long as it's healthy food you could gain enough energy to exercise regularly! I've also majorly cut down on sugar, stopped having it with tea, coffee and porridge, stopped eating crisps etc. Which also seems to have helped!

Day 27

Had a bigger breakfast than normal, 2 veggie sausages with mushrooms and tomatoes. However, then I went for a super long 1 hour walk and felt great despite the rain :) Walked to work, managed a 20 minute jog on my lunch break. Only had an apple for lunch because I was still full from the breakfast. I walked back from work (about 120 mins walking today overall) and did 15 mins of weight training at home.

Going to have a low fat veggie curry and jacket potato for dinner and possibly some porridge before bed. Also going to do 10 mins cardio exercise later.
Been bought a lot of easter eggs this year so trying to save the calories for the weekend lol.

I'm aware my diary format keeps changing, not sure which is the best way to do it!

The format for your diary can change every single day if you want it to Mika. There is no format. Whatever works for you on the day is fine. My diary has often been a ramble & is usually not about what I do or don't eat. It's your diary :)

Thank you! Think the format is just going to be whatever I feel like doing on the day lol :)

Day 28
Ate quite a lot. Had risotto rice for breakfast, which was super filling (160cal) Went for a small 20 min jog and a 40 min walk before work. For lunch I had a veggie sausage, a veggie potato finger thing, and 2 prawns (about 300cal) Then did another 10 minute jog. I walked home from work and did about 15 mins with my 5kg dumbbells, then went out for a meal. I had a cheese and tomato panini which was one of the lowest calorie things on the menu, with a salad - about 600cal.

Tomorrow I'm going to the pub so going to try not to overeat! And stick to 2 pints :)

Day 29

Being sensible as I know after the pub visit I will crave food as always, so kept my calories low and got a fridge full of healthy stuff for later on!

Breakfast I had a veggie sausage with mushrooms, then managed a 40 minute walk and 10 minute jog before work.
For lunch I had Thai veggies with a jacket potato.
Managed 20 more minutes of jogging in 3 minute bursts, and 10 mins with dumbbells.

Going to the pub soon, going to attempt to stick to 2 pints and eat no more than 250 calories afterwards!

Sorry for lack of inactivity, went away for Easter break. It was a bit of a mish mash to be honest. For the past month I have been losing about 2 pounds per week. However, despite last week being what I considered relatively healthy, from Monday - Saturday I have somehow gained 4/5 pounds and am pretty much back to where I started at the end of Feb. Annoying!

We had a family birthday meal last night, which didn't help as it was a mexican restaurant and the food whilst delicious was very high calorie and we had drinks to go with it. I haven't been hungry at all today though so might not have breakfast at all. Was afraid to weigh myself this morning!

Very stressful how quickly you can go back to a previous state. Especially when you thought you were doing better than at the beginning. Also my stomach is looking big again -_- No idea what happened.

I really doubt you actually gained 5 lbs, given how low your calories are. You're probably bloated with water weight and it isn't actual fat gain.

Thanks I really hope you're right! Not going to weigh myself until the weekend, see if it's gone down at all.

I've lost count of days so just going to date the entries from now on lol.

April 3rd:

Woke up feeling extremely bloated after going out for a mexican last night, and having drinks with it. Didn't feel like breakfast but took an orange to work. Managed a 30 min walk and 20 mins of jogging. Did 5 mins with weights and a bit of cardio.

For lunch had a small jacket potato and a bit of pasta salad - about 300 calories
Now having some museli with almond milk - about 250 calories

Really tired so going to have an early night, then get up tomorrow and go for a walk/jog!

It will be water retention, for sure. Tomorrow is another day. Have a day low in starchy carbs & drink lots of water & that will drop away :)

April 4th

Had veggie sausage for breakfast with tomatoes and kale. Did a 30 min walk before work and 20 mins jogging in bursts on my lunch-break.
For lunch I had these low fat strawberry pop-tart like things, which were 95 calories for a pack of 2.
Had an early dinner - half a veggie burger with mustard and salad, saving the other half for tonight because I'm going cinema and will probably be hungry afterwards. Might have 1 drink but we will see :)
Also done 15 mins with dumbbells so far!

So approx 750cal food and 300cal ish for the drink.

That's barely above 1,000 calories. I'd maybe try to eat a piece of fruit or something.

Good idea, my only issue is my sugar intake is very high and always way over recommended intake, and fruits tend to be high in sugar!
