MidGaGuy's Diary

You will do it! How long does it take you to do 10miles on your bike? Do you do a steady pace, or do you mix it up?

It usually takes about 20-21 minutes . I don't really know if that is normal or slow . I usually average about 25-27 mph which I feel like is fairly vigorous for me. I'll sprint at times to around 30-35 mph throughout. I don't know how accurate this digital readout is tho either. I time myself with a seperate stopwatch . I start out the first couple of miles with low resistance then I'll up the setting and the last couple of miles I'll ease it back down some.
oh and I will sometimes hold the rotating handlebars and sometimes I will sit upright without them. I'm wearing those weights on my wrists while riding and I'll simulate fast walking pace with my arms when I'm sitting straight up on the bike. If this makes sense *L* Might be hard to get that mental picture.:rotflmao:

Sounds like you are doing well. Here's something you could try, though--go at a moderte pace/low resistance the first 3-5min then up the resistance and pace for 1-2mins--working it as hard as you can. Then ease back on speed and resistance for 3-4min and kick it into high gear again. Keep doing that until you've gone 10 miles. This will give your leg muscles a work out and kick your metabolism into gear. Also, if your gym options are not so good, have you thought about a home weight gym like a bowflex or something? B/c you DO need to get some strength training in--or else it's gonna be hard for you to keep losing at a decent rate.:)

I'll try that !
I've actually thought about getting a home gym setup. Just not sure where I could put it. I think free weights might be a good choice. I had actually looked at a set the day I got the bike and opted to buy the bike instead of the weights. I could probably pick up a decent bench that can fold away fairly reasonable too. Maybe I'll add that to my weekend list of things to buy. I was planning on getting a camcorder this weekend. Guess I'll be spending some cashola huh *L*

Well , I'm not sure how it happened but this morning . I was under 300 . I weighed myself 3 times just to make sure I wasn't standing funny *L*

Woohoo , Shake them pom poms!

Yeah I can't wait til next week . Just wish it wasn't so hot ! I have a high school game to go to friday night and then UGA opens up saturday night. I don't have my kids that weekend so I dunno if I'm going to go or not . I might just ride up there after I get off work and see if I can snag a single ticket off of a scalper . Then again if it's a gazillion degrees I'll just watch it at home on the bigscreen *L*

Does your son play high school football? How much does a UGA ticket cost off a scalper? They are pretty pricey for Mich games--especially the big ones like OSU. Yah, if it's hotter than hell, I would opt for the bigscreen, too.:)

He plays trumpet in the marching band. He's expressed an interest in playing football but all of his friends are in the band so if I had to wager, it'd take one of them to tryout for the team first *L* I'm all for it if he wants to but his mother is another story *insert HUUUUUGE eyeroll here*

UGA tickets aren't too bad if it's for a small game, trick is finding good seat locations . Face value is $40 this year and you can usually pick some up from around $50 each depending on the location. UGA side of the field is a premium usually because the sun is at your back for day games. I usually take my kids so I need 3 seats together. That is a hard thing to get because usually people have 2 or 4 seats together. Tickets for the Oklahoma State game seem to be going for about $50 on ebay right now which is kind of surprising . Night games are usually more than day games. I'd say I could pick up a single close to game time for face value from a guy trying to re-coop some money *L*
Big games like against Auburn, they seem to be going for $150-$200 each right now. They'll get higher closer to game day .
