Michelle's Diary

Instead of taking five minute breaks for water on the elliptical, I'm now doing it in three ten minute sections. So that's progress. Nice enjoyable stretch for my quads, hams, and glutes. I may be going up in water weight, etc., but boy I'm feeling good. All warmed up and limber. Well, more than before anyway!

I'm off to consume my BL spinach/ricotta bake for breakfast. With water of course. As long as it's really cold from the fridge with ice in it, its really satisfying.

:driving: Come on 210! I've got you in my sights, calling no joy!

I've got some really cute clothes I've saved for when I lose weight, but they're all out of style now. Boo Hoo.

Hang on to them for a few years and they'll be back. Then you'll be on the cutting edge of fashion.

Nice work bumping up your elliptical time, too. I love that machine. It's the only one that doesn't hurt me. And changing the routine up is probably a good thing... keep that body guessing!

It's raining here for the 2nd day so I'm not sure what I'll be able to get in walk-wise. I may have to, *gasp* go to the gym. But I'm pretty sure my wife will hate me for leaving her alone with the pooch -- especially since I did the same thing last night for poker. :D Ooops.

Do you think the eighties will ever be in style again? *shudder* :ack2: Most of my stuff is pretty classic, but now that I'm pushing forty, not sure if I can pull off mini skirts again. I've always liked sporty stuff and that never goes out of style so that's good. Useful too, now that I'm gonna be a fantastically firm and fit chick!

How'd it go with the poker night last night? Have fun? Too bad your wife can't go to the gym with you. Maybe you can compromise and do something she wants first or after. My dear husband is supposed to be working on our closet, but alas, he's off on some $!@#* four wheeling event. :cuss: Oh well. Whatever makes him happy.

Here's to no beer today!

What beautiful weather we have today. After mass early this morning we hit menards and hauled some deck lumber home. That was a pretty good workout. River rocks too...and plywood. Sunday's my day off of exercise so it was a good day to haul stuff. I'm putting in a garden this year, well, phase one of my garden. That should burn some serious calories...I hope. And getting a tan always helps me to look better.

We went to Perkins for breakfast and I did pretty well. I ordered a ham and cheese omlet but asked to sub Egg Beaters and got whole wheat toast. That chocolate, chocolate chip muffin was taunting me from behind the bakery glass though. I ate half of the omlet even though I could've polished the whole thing no problem. I have NO IDEA how many calories I consumed at the meal and that bothers me. Its funny how that has changed. I never used to care!

Happy Sunday all.

I'm the same way! Not only did I not care before, it never even occurred to me. It was just another meal that I finished regardless of the portion presented to me. And now, if I go out to eat and can't find the nutritional info when I get back it gets on my nerves because I don't know how to reconcile the rest of my diet with what I ate there.

Exactly. I did really well yesterday morning/afternoon, then I blew it. I had some beer :leaving: and ate the rest of the omelet. Late at night. Dusting myself off and climbing back on this horse! I so want to get to ten pounds, it's just taking forever...:banghead:

Thanks BG. I stretch a little from the elliptical, but I don't get as sore with that as I do the Firm dvds, but they each have a long slow wonderful cool down/stretch segment at the end so I'm covered. I know, stretching is so important!

Curious minds want to know, what are the names of the two cookbooks you're using. I LOVE small ingredient lists!
:bigear:

I promised you the cookbook- I just remembered this moring.
It is:
Busy people's Low Fat cookbook
Dawn Hall
7 ingredients or less
quick and easy
Heart healthy and delicious

There are a lot of wierd things in here but there are several that are very good- worth it overall.

My day is going really well, thanks! I hit the ten pound mark today!!! Yippee!

I know it's not much compared to other folks around here, but it's the farthest I've ever gone. I think I just might make it this time...Thanks for the support everyones been giving me. It really helps a lot. It's just enough to keep me on track. Changing my ticker and not wanting to slide back has really helped motivate me too...

I am few days late on the conversation, but wanted to say congrats on your first ten and also pipe in on the beer discussion.

I myself realized that my desire for food and my desire for drinking run parallel with each other. It the same part of my personality and mind that makes me want more of both. The more i have been involved in weight loss ofrums, the more i think that this is a common correlation, food and the sauce.

I dont like to drink one beer and i dont like one piece of pizza. I need to have none or tons. So right now, my solution to the alcohol since the food is clearly out the door is that i have become the designated driver, which means that if i want a beer at the bar that i can have one but my friends wont allow me to have anymore. works well for me.

Good luck with your loss

Doesn't matter what other people have done... that's their loss - your loss is your own and that's the only thing that should matter to you and will motivate you ...

Well done on the 10... and even better for it being the furthest you've ever gone... you're even going to go further than that...

Congratulations on the 10. Never compare or worry about everyone else. Everyone has different goals and ways to achieve them.
10 lbs is great- no other way to say it. :)

Surprisingly the anonymity of the internet has given me great accountability and motivation also.:D

Welcome Avs, and thanks for the drinking advice. I only crave it on the weekends, and I TOTALLY associate it with good food. I LOVE making an awesome meal and having some beer on the deck while it simmers for a couple of hours. The two go hand-in-hand for me as well. I'm learning some new recipes now that are equally as good but healthy so that will be fun. I just need to have some really good beverage alternatives to keep me happy on weekend evenings.

Mal & BG, you are right, I have to stop comparing myself to others. I am really excited about the ten pounds though, mostly because I know it's just the beginning this time...

I did order a few books online this morning. Two by Dawn Hall. Yours and her slow cooker one. Also, there was that had high reviews and the meals looked really good. I can't wait to look them over when they get here.

Well, I'm off to buy my today. I can't wait. Now my sights are centered on 199 and I know now I can do it!

Of course you can do it.
Everything in moderation- remember you do not need to deprive yourself of anything.
Thrilled you found the cookbook, it really is a good one- lot of salads and good meals.....
I am happy i could help someone today- instead of my usual ramblings and whatnot.........

Thank you. That was fun to read, and thank you for caring about a total stranger!

You've been a big help. Getting excited about healthy food has made this ride much more enjoyable. I love having exercised, but not during. Its nice to know there's a good lunch or snack on the other side of it. And thanks for taking the time to check on my progress. Who knows what my weight will be tomorrow, but I know I'm changing things and I'm really proud of myself.:D

30 min ellip, 10 min warm up and cool down
BL Everything omelet for breakfast with cheese & chive egg beaters, yum.
Peach yogurt & ground flax for snack.

Looks like rain again. Ahhh, spring.

I couldn't have said that better. Exactly like me. Especially during football season (speaking of cool tickers!). Every Sunday we'd have beer and snacks and watch the Vikes (and Adrian Peterson). I so looked forward to football nights. I have no idea what I'll do this season, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...

:cheers2:

I love to exercise and there are many times I am just happy it is over- cardio kicks my butt sometimes! This is all normal- the good sign is that you getting in the habit of it- you do not love brushing your teeth do you? Of course not but you like the result and it is a habit.
The most important thing is the changes in you and your lifestyle. The scale may never move but the changes in your health will always be there.
I ain't going no where- a big part of this forum is support, strangers helping strangers. Get used to random people caring about your life- it is a good feeling:).

You have every reason to be proud of yourself.:D

Isn't Spring grand!:D

Hi!

I was just checking your diary out and I wanted to tell you that I think you have made great progress so far - keep it up. I am sure you know that you have found a great place for support while working towards your goal. Good Luck!

Thanks Ali, coming from you, that means a lot. You've done awesome. I can't wait to hit 20, then 50, then 70! Seems difficult, but I'm finding out it's not if you take it in baby steps. One day (meal) at a time. :seeya:
