Mel's Weight Loss Diary

It would probably be inaccurate to say this is the first day of my diet as I have been "dieting" for my entire life! Or trying to... But this is the first day of a new kind of diet/lifestyle change - I'm feeling really positive, but I know I'll need something to keep my motivation up, so I'm going to keep this diary.

I'm 5ft 5inches tall and weigh 155 pounds. I know I'm not obese, but I used to be slimmer and my confidence has suffered terribly. I'm only 21 and I know I'm too young to feel frumpy and afraid of my body - that' my motivation for doing this. I've decided to do Weight Watchers because I have lost weight on this plan before.

Today has been fine, I've eaten well so far, and had a lovely tuna salad for lunch. Have also been drinking lots of water which everyone insists helps! The evenings are the most difficult time for me. I love food, so once I tuck into my lovely main meal in the evenings I never want to stop! I will let you know how my first evening goes (god, if I can't even manage my first evening I'm really in trouble!)

My aim is to be 126 pounds by Christmas. Thats 29 pounds. Not unrealistic?

Hey Mel, just wanted to wish you well on your dieting journey :). I also have the night eating problem, its so hard when I'm in the house.. Keep us posted!

Thanks Blancita. Wow, you've lost loads, well done!

Have just had my tea, cous cous with chicken stock, and lots of veggies. Feel quite pleased with how I've done today, but now going out to the pub with my friends, and I just know I'll be drinking. Havent seen them for a few weeks. I have to admit, I often continue to drink alcohol even when I'm dieting.

A very naughty first day...

Day two, woohoo! :newbie: Well yesterday was OK, I know I didn't eat entirely sensibly. I only had 9 points in food because I knew I was going out for drinks in the evening. So then I had a lot of wine! In fact, got rather drunk... :beerchug:
NOT SENSIBLE. I'm tempted to weigh myself this morning, but I know it wouldn't be a true reflection of my weight because I haven't eaten much and will be dehydrated from the alcohol.
I'll be more sensible today, I promise. :D Haven't eaten yet. Think I will hard-boil some eggs for a nice tuna nicoise salad for lunch.

OK, so here's what I've eaten and points values for today:
Egg white 0 Tuna 2 Sweetcorn 1 Dressing 1/2 Salad 0 Apples 1
Rice 5 Bacon 1 Salmon 4 Vegetables 0 Stock 0
Greek Yogurt 1 Honey 1

Total: 17 points

Not too bad, I also went for a long brisk walk. Feel slightly down-hearted this evening though, partly because I weighed myself after dinner with all my clothes on and the weight on the scales was not pretty... I think I'm impatient, but I just have to keep reminding myself - if I want to be thin, I have to keep going. Hopefully in a months time I'll feel the difference and it would be so difficult to diet anymore because it'll feel worth it.
I just have to make everyday a "thin" day!

LOSS!
Yay, I weighed myself this morning and have lost 4lbs! Very pleased, I know the weight loss is always quickest in the first week and will have to get used to it coming off more slowly but I'm dead chuffed. Got dressed today feeling a lot more attractive than I have in a while. I know that's a little silly, because 4lbs won't really show, but I feel good!
Will write again about how today goes.

Hi Mel!! I'm so glad you've decided to blog your journey! I'm 21 too is it's always great to see other young females on the board.

Are you from England? I was just wondering b/c my old roommate is from England and she used to say "chuffed," all the time. :)

It sounds like you are off to a good start. Feel free to drop by my blog anytime as well. I totally think you can make your goal by the end of the year!

Thanks Callie. I'm still feeling pretty positive, my first week is going well (I think).
Yeah I'm English, forgot that not everyone used the word 'chuffed' haha!
Here's what I've had today and points:
Chicken soup and bread 3
A naughty handful of peanuts 2
Lasagne (not really dieat food, I know!!!) 10
Greek yoghurt and honey 2

So that's 17, not bad.
xxx

If you don't mind me askin.. what exactly is "cous cous?" I had a British nutrition professor who always talked about it, but never explained what it was.

And grats on the 4 lbs :D

Cous cous is like... aaarrrghhh, I've tried to explain before, it's kinda hard... it's made from wheat, like pasta, and kind of looks just like crumbs of pasta! It's popular in eastern europe and parts of africa, like morroco. I usually cook it with vegetables and some stock - it's just like an alternative to pasta for me.

Anyway, I'm going to the cinema today - I LOVE TO EAT JUNK FOOD AT THE CINEMA! This will be a serious test for me. I think I will take some snack'a'jacks (a rice snack made to be an alternative to crisps for those who don't know) and have a diet coke.
I wish I could have popcorn! xxxx

Oh no! I guess today might be my first official set-back... I've eaten LOADS today. Have had about 12 points already and havent even had tea yet! Nooooo.
It's ok, I'll pick myself up and start fresh tomorrow xxx
