Melissa's Diary

So I have been on a weight loss journey for a short time now but I have heard that keeping weight loss diary is somewhat motivational. When I was in high school I was very active and had a toned body. When I got married I put on some weight. At my most I was about 220. Currently I am at 195. My initial goal is 150 and then once I reach that I would like to be about 120. I am on a strict low carb high protein diet which I have found to be very effective. I do cardio and weights everday and only drink water and use the crystal light for flavor. I hope to get to my first goal weight of 150 at least by the end of the year but hopefully sooner. My sister in law followed a similar diet to mine and lost about 80 lbs.

New Year New Me

So the last time I created this diary I never really used it. I have come to realize how important it is. I have struggled with keeping the weight off that I have lost and am still trying to reach my goal. I am limited on time to exercise and seemed to find excuses to not workout but so far this year I have been doing much better. I started the Sonoma diet on Jan. 1st and bought an Xbox Kinects so I would not have to make time for the gym. I LOVE the kinects and bought two workout games for it. I actually look forward to working out now and do not get bored with it. I have not touched a drop of sugar since I started the diet and find the Sonoma diet a great diet because you are not limiting grains or fats its just based on a well balanced well proportioned diet. I want to reach my goal by the summer with only 40 lbs to lose. I would like some feedback from others who may have tried the Sonoma diet or use the Xbox kinects for their workouts.

Hey, welcome back to your diary :)

My kid brothers got a kinect for christmas and before I had a go I thought it was a bit of a gimmick... but i was really impressed! The technology is superb and it really is a lot of fun to play with, not having to hold onto a controller is also a very welcome bonus- and anything that gets you up and out of the chair and moving around the room is always positive.

Good luck in achieving your goals this year, I can't recommend keeping a diary here enough, it's so helpful in keeping yourself accountable.

I've never tried the Sonoma diet but I am on a high-protein, low carb one (South Beach). I don't stick to it religiously - I could not give up candy AND fruit, even though they forbid fruit. I've used the SB diet before, three years ago, and it did wonders for my energy and hypoglycemia.

TxTeacher I have never tried the SB diet but I have done a low carb diet. I found it very effective but very hard to stick to. Thats why I really like the Sonoma diet becaus it is about whole foods and portions. I find myself not hungry at the end of the day and still having energy whereas with with the low carb diet I was starving all the time and had no energy. Good like on your diet.
