Well Hello there WLF buddies!

My name is Melinda. I am 22 yrs old. I am from Corpus Christi, Texas.I am truly blessed in life with my wonderful Fiancé and loving family. My fiance is going through the police academy in Las Cruces, New Mexico to become a Sherrifs Deputy. I am staying here for the next few weeks and am now starting to pack my stuff and move over there with him in our new house! needless to say, im a little stressed out. But couldnt be more proud my of hubby! I love him!!

Anywho.

I started my weight loss journey June 2009 and am still going strong.

I am 5’6 in height. I started out at 173.8 lbs and I am aspiring to get down to 120 lbs. I cant wait! :)

The first 30 lbs that I lost, and put me down to 143 lbs, was all thanks to low carb eating and exercise! But after going back and forth the last few weeks of being strict, then not so strict, and just flat out cheating.. I have now got back up to 147.8 lbs. But its no big deal, it’ll be gone just as quick. Except, that now I’m doing something a little different.

I’ve decided that I am no longer eating “low carb.” I am still going try to avoid white carbs (bad stuff ex. Sugar/white bread/pastries/donuts DELICIOUSNESS!) but I am going to allow more complex carbs such as whole grains and more variety of fruits and veggies and definitely watch my calorie intake. And of course, plenty of exercise and water.

Nothing was wrong with low carb, it works, no doubt. I just think my body was getting so used to it and I was ready for a change. More variety. And eating low carb can be very difficult in certain situations and very stressful sometimes.
I’m excited to be eating more healthy foods, and I like that I can eat stuff and not erase something completely from my ‘diet’. Things in moderation J

According to my BMI , my weight is “healthy” but I am definitely going to lose more weight. I have jiggles all over the place. Lol Especially my gut! It has for sure shrunk since the beginning of my journey but it is still no where near where I want it to be. I want to be lean and fit. I want to be able to wear a 2 piece again comfortably. I want to wear cute little tops and low cut jeans. I miss being skinny. And I cant wait to be there again! And one big motivator, my WEDDING is coming up in Sept. and I WILL look breathtaking in my gown!!

So please help me with anything you can! Advice is always welcomed and very appreciated.

I’m very new to this calorie counting stuff. Im so used to low carb living that I’m having a little bit of a hard time eating stuff that used to be BIG no no in my former low carb world. Or reading nutritional facts and freaking out about the carb count. Its def. going to take some getting used to.

Oh my goodness, well ive already written so much and ill be surprised if anyone even reads this. Lol

But anyways. I will post some pictures maybe later tonight, I am at work right now. I’ll post some of my starting (heaviest) pictures and photos of me now.

Hey again. just posting what ive had to eat today so far..

breakfast: a mini sara lee whole grain wheat bagel (100 cal) with a smudge of natural pb
banana

L: Subway 6 inch on 9 grain wheat, chicken, lettuce,tom, black olives, and little bit of ranch/chipoltle sauce and a sprinkle of shredded monterrey chz.
diet coke

S: my mid afternoon snack will be around 2 ish, ill probably have a quaker rice cake (50 cals)

D: hmm...i dont know yet. maybe a salad! yum.

Anywho. not much going on, just here at work right now. i get off at 3:30 gonna run home and get changed then get to the gym rigth away! this is my second day in a row going. TRYING to make this a habbit. I cant be lazy this time!

anywho.

just wanted to update what i ended up having for dinner since i didnt know what it was gonna be earlier today. haha.
i ended up eating subway, again!
same sandwhich.
6 inch on 9 grain whole wheat, chicken, lettuce,tom.,black olives, chipolte and ranch.
diet coke.

my sandwhich was soo good at lunch and its what i was craving for din! i didnt feel like cooking anything and subway was the only thing that sounded great! and it was! haha
i know i know. i probably shouldnt have done that. i honestly dont even know how many calories are in the sandwhich. i should look it up..

other than that, i think i ate fairly well today.

ALSO! i went to the gym right after work today! i met a girlfriend of mine there.
did the eliptical for an hr and burned 600 cals. i felt great but i was sooo tired.

now im just relaxing but ill be up early tomorrow and get my ass to the gym! no excuses.
I've decided that my rest days will be tuesdays and thursdays. i work a 7am-3:30 pm shift and im off weekends.
This will be the first time ive been to the gym on a saturday in a very long time. im excited!

i really want to start doing some strength training along with my cardio but i just always feel like such a dumbass at the gym. cause half the machines, i have NO IDEA how to use and the people who work at my gym are just kinda weird and i dont feel comfortable asking for help. from a "trainer" if thats what you want to call them. lol my gym is ghetto. i dont like it. but for 20 bucks a month, i cant complain right? its 'freedom fitness' they just suck because they dont have any classes or any challenges or anything fun like that.

i really want to get a membership at like golds gym or somewhere else..but they are all alot more pricey and im really trying to save as much money as i can for me and my hubby, as i am moving to be with him pretty soon.


ahh. anyways. sorry now im just blabbing and blabbing my thoughts away. haha.
Well, i promise i will be off to the gym in the AM. i will report back tomorrow.

You've already done a fantastic job...keep up the good work :) I think it's great that your introducing complex carbs back into your diet, cause our bodies and brains need them for optimal function. I know what you mean about Subway.....I LOVE SUBWAY!! If you follow my journal you're sure to see I eat it a lot. hahah subway! gotta love it! i didnt have it for 10 months straight (the whole time i did low carb) so i guess thats why it was extra delicious and i wanted it twice yesterday! hahah. goodluck to you!:hurray:
 
today is a beautiful day...

just woke up and am feeling blah. didnt really get as much sleep as i wished for, but i never do so whats new? lol

just ate breakfast which was:
- sara lee mini whole grain wheat bagel (100 cal) with a smudge of cream chz
-banana

it was great. now im just sitting around waiting a little bit for my body to digest it, before i go straight to the gym. i dont like going to the gym after ive eaten, even if just a small snack. i should be good here in a few mins. but i am excited!

i really hope i can do this. go to the gym every day except for my two off days that i have chosen to be tuesdays and thursdays. i need to do this. and i will.
im excited too, cause my gym is finally selling t-shirts. they had some when i got my membership but they only had like really big sizes and nothin other than that. but now they actually have some and im gonna buy some today. i need some new workout clothes. i may go and buy a couple pairs of yoga capri pants today.

im also thinking about going to the store and buying a lock so i can have a locker there too at the gym. that way, i have no excuses to not go to the gym. i can bring my bag of workout clothes/shoes and stuff with me to work and then go straight to the gym after and change there. i think this will help me even more to make this a everyday habbit.

and another thing! ugh. im struggling with my running shoes. i am so disapointed. i went to an adidas outlet store last week and i bought me and my hubby both brand new pairs of running shoes. he needs them for P.T. for the academy. he needed something that was good on his heals and supported his back. well, turns out his shoes were winners. he says they are so comfortable and he thinks they are helping. and im so happy for that, but i wish my shoes were worth a darn!
i got the adidas "kooger" lol yeah i dont know about the name. we were laughing when i bought them. but anywho, theyre suposedly really great for running. and i tried them on at the store and they were comfy. . .

well...running/working out in them f-ing SUCKS! while im working out, my toes/and top part of my feet are numb almost the whole time. and then afterwards just walking in them, my heels of my feet are just in pain. and they are just no longer comfortable. i feel like im walking straight on the concrete, no support. just so frustrated because i spent so much money and they suck!! wah. anyways.

sorry that was just a rant. lol

anyways onto other weird stuff. lol. this is probably T.M.I for alot of you and i appologize.. but not being on a low carb diet is really starting to help me in the umm..digestive department. lol. i was sooo used to having problems and stuff when i was on low carb. and the past few days, i well...lets just say i do not have any problems. lmao. sorry again! its just kinda nice to be NORMAL in that sense. lol

okay well i guess ill stop blabbing cause ive probably weirded alot of you out. hahaha.

ill be going to the gym here within a few minutes. i will be back later to let you know how that went and how my eatings going today!

my head hurts..

so..i went to the gym and todays workout was not so great. it SUCKED in fact.
my shoes still suck and i have decided that i give up on them. i was trying to "break them in" if you will, hoping that they would become more comfortable..but i cant do it. my feet are in alot of pain and i really believe it is because of those stupid shoes. i was sooo uncomfortable at the gym, i only stayed on the eliptical for 30 mins! ugh! 30 mins! and then i went home.
i was so disapointed in my self. and in those 30 mins i only burned 200 cals. horrible! oh well..i guess its better than not going at all.

ill be there again tomorrow morning, except tomorrow ill be wearing my old but not painful shoes.

when i got home i got ready to go somewhere for lunch.
thats another thing, during my workout, i was STARVING all of a sudden. i dont think thats ever really happened to me while im working out. it was very hard to ignore, my stomach was literally growling really loud. weird.
i had eaten a light breakfast before i went so i dont know why i was so damn hungry!!

anyways. i took my mama to lunch at jasons deli before we went shopping. yums. and this is what i had:

-tuna melt (tuna salad on whole grain wheat with one slice swiss chz)
-small fruit cup
-diet coke

it was delicious!

i just got home about an hour ago and was feeling some hunger again..so i had a quaker (50 cal) rice cake.


now i just got out of the shower and im relaxing until later when i hang out with a girlfriend of mine. were going to maybe do a little shopping and then dinner maybe. ill try to keep it as low cal and healthy as possible! hahah

okay well i will ttyl!! buh byes for now!!

yeah so yesterdays dinner wasnt so great.
i ended up going to tgifridays with my friend.

i got the fried green beans and a small side salad with a bit of ranch dressing.
i meant to only eat a few of the green beans but they were soo addicting!
im only freaking about about this because, after googling my sandwhich that i ate earlier in the day (my tuna melt from jasons deli) apparently i consumed 960 calories! o m g. i have to be more careful and aware of what the hell im putting in my mouth! i felt so horrible aout that so i almost wanted to skip dinner but i figured id eat something small (appetizer/salad) ugh. still really disapointed tho. but oh well.

this morning, i woke up and got dressed to work out and was about to go out the door but i started 'thinking' and somehow ended back in my room and before i knew it i was changing into jeans! wth! lol. i just didnt feel like it anymore. i ended up going to super walmart and got some groceries, all healthy food i promise.

i got all excited too because i found a better bread. its the sara lee delightful whole wheat slices. theyre only 45 cals a slice so 90 for 2. not bad at all! i was so excited to find it and the bread is soo soft and taste great. 9 grams of carb and whole grain. anyways!
i also got some light yoplait yogurt, tea, whole grain berry cheerios which are delicious and addicting by the way!! they taste just like fruit loops!!!yum.
i got alot more goodies but i wont go over them lol. i dont know why im explaining my grocery haul to you guys. sorry. hahah

anywho. i did manage to get my ass to the gym today. i met a girlfriend there and we did the treadmill for an hour. today i was feeling very down/lazy/shitty therefore my workout reflected. i did not push myself whatsoever. i walked the whole time and i walked at an incline of like 9 the whole time, but my speed was at about 3. horrible! i guess its better than not going at all, but i still sucked so bad. i only burnt like 300 cals.

tomorrow will def be better.

back to work tomorrow. i hate my job so much. i mean its a great job, good company. great pay. but being packed in an office with 4 other females gets kinda crazy sometimes. bitchfits/moodswings/ you know the deal. lol. im already a b*tch all by myself as it is, so you can only imagaine the rath. but its okay, i just have to with stand about 3 more months of that place then ill be packing my bags and moving to be with my honey! i cant wait.

anywho. ill be going to the gym right after work tomorrow. ill be meeting one of my best friends Celia there again. Shes the one thats been going with me. Shes trying to lose a little weight but nothing to serious like me, shes pretty tiny just gained a few lbs recently is all.. but its great to have her to help motivate me and keep each other accountable. shes promised to go with me every mon,wed and thurs. which is why i chose tues and thurs to be my off days. that way i would push myself to go on the weekends since its something im not used to.

anyways...here was my intake for today.

Breakfast
-90 cal chewy granola bar

Lunch
-turkey sandwhich on toasted whole grain with a little mayo
-small handful of lower cal lite pot chips (i know, bad)
dipped in a little bit of sour cream/ranch dip

Snack: apple nutrigrain bar..i think it was like 120 cals something like that..
-diet pepsi

Snack: handful of berry blast cheerios

Dinner
-6 in turkey/amer chz on 9 grain wheat (subway) it had lettuce,tom,onions,avocado,spinach,tiny squirt of mayo -it was delicious!
-diet coke

and now...im about to start getting ready to relax for bed. gotta be up at 6. im feeling a little bit of a hunger pain so im thinking about maybe grabbing a light yoplait yogurt. i got boston creme pie, red velvet cake or strawberry shortcake..hmm which one shall i have? hahahah.

so yeah. thats it for today. ive already packed my lunch for tomorrow and stuff so ill report back tomorrow with how it goes!

Hey there :) Welcome to the forum. About the numb foot thing, actually ANY shoes will do that to you. I get it all the time, I suggest trying to not tighten them so much. They are making your feet numb because you are cutting off the blood flow, I get it all the time and I just stop and loosen the laces and the feeling comes back lol.

Anyway, hope everything is going well for you :) If you need a weightloss buddy just message me, I would be happy to have one too.

yeah. ill def try maybe later to do that with my shoes. they really arent laced tight right now at all, but ill try to loosen them up a bit and see if that helps.
i just hate to see all the money go to waste if theyre just going to be thrown under my bed and i cant even wear them.

i want to get off work already!

hey guys. just here at work on my lunch break. todays been steady, not too busy though so the time is going by eh..okay i guess. i wont say anything i dont want to jinx it.

todays been whatever. im in a weird mood today, not really a good one but not really a BAD one either. just blah. lol
i think im just really really anxious to get off work and go straight to the gym and get my burn on. lol im suprised at all this energy and motivation i have lately. lets just hope it lasts. i still have a long way to go.

so anyways heres my intake for today so far..

Breakfast
-berry blast whole grain cheerios with skim milk
-half of a peanut butter banana sandwhich (one slice of 45 cals whole wheat bread and a small portion of a banana)

Lunch
- one of those packaged meals kinda like the healthy choice fresh mixers, the ones where you steam the noodles yourself then add in the sauce except it was a diff. brand not healthy choice.i believe it was 310 cals.
- other half of banana from this morning.

thats all i've had so far.

on my 2 o clock break here at work, i'll probably have a 90 cal chewy granola bar to help me make it through the rest of the day.

than at 3:30 im off to the gym!

so i will report back and let you know how my workout was and what i ended up eating for dinner! im thinking subway...i know i know! i shouldnt, but its just so damn conveniant and tasty! damn them! lol

i think me and my friend may just go straight there after the gym and eat. we'll see though. ttyl guys!
 
Good going with all that motivation girlie :) I'm feeling motivated myself lately....I think it's all the great support I'm getting from here and seeing how great everyone else is doing, really makes me want to step up my game. About your numb feet....I get it too. My shoes are always tied loose. I don't know what happens, but I just try to push through it. Hopefully I'm not doing any damage. Re: the running shoes. I am just getting into running as well, and I did some research before buying my running shoes. From what I understand, it is very important to choose running shoes that are made especially for women when you guy them and they recommend that you buy a size bigger. I normally wear size seven shoes but I have size eight running shoes. I don't know if you are still wearing the running shoes you don't like but if you do decide to buy a new pair, maybe this will help?

I looove subway too. :)

yeah im trying to stay energetic and positive about everything! todays my off day from the gym, but i find myself wanting to go anyway! lol. now thats not something i would have ever said a couple months ago. i would be delighted to have an off day.
but yeah about my shoes, im still trying. i loosened them up alot to see if it would help. they still got numb as hell...it only happens when im on the eliptical if i can remember right.
and i think the reason it happens is cause my feet are like elevated forward and my toes are pretty much being smashed to the fron tof the shoe, i guess cutting the circulation of blood. so i try to stretch and move them around alot when im on there. i googled it and came to find out, what i am expieriencing really is very common. so i guess ill just have to deal with it!

anywho. i hope your doing well! thank you for droppin by!

just here at work..

hey guys.

just here at work on my lunch break..well i probably should be back from lunch by now but..whatever. lol
wanted to stop by and let you know whats been going on since yesterday.

i did go to the gym right after work, my friend flaked on me so i was alone but thats okay. she works for her dads AC company and she had to do some last minute errands for him so it was no big deal.
i stayed on the eliptical for a little over and hour and i burned 500 cals. not as good as my usual but my feet were killing me.
but i left feeling great and exhausted.

ended up going to ....SUBWAY for dinner (big surprise lol)
6 in on 9 grain wheat bread, turkey/chz,lettuce,tom.,onions,mayo
-light lemonade

and then when i got home my mama was cooking some fried rice (im asian btw lol) and i ate like a big spoonful. i know i know. but it was great.
and then i had a handful of some low cal potato chips. yeah bad again i know. but better than the norm? lol. i know making excuses here. but i had a really good workout so im not worrying about it!

then before i went to bed i felt starving so i had one slice of whole grain bread (45 cals) with a smear of natural pb. yum.
and that was it for yesterday.

hmm. today so far has been great. heres my intake for today 04/27

Breakfast

-whole grain banana nut cheerios with skim milk

Lunch
brought my lunch to work
-turkey/mayo sandwhich on whole grain 2 slices (45 cals a slice)
-small bag of green grapes
-diet rasberry tea

and now im just chillin waiting for it to be 3:30! its 12:48 right now...so 3 hrs boo. lol.

at my 2:00 break ill probably have something to snack on. i have a 90 cal chewy bar and a banana. and then...its go home time! yay!

oh and today is my rest day for the gym. but ill be right back there tomorrow after work!
just gonna chill out with the best friend tonight watch some movies and shet. hahha

I miss grapes. For some reason I missed them when they were in season here a few months ago. I think I must have been travelling during that time...hump!!!
