Me before...me now.....

Just thought I would share my before and after pics. I'm a 42 yr old, 5'7" mom of 2. I really never had trouble with weight until after I had my kids. Before I was pregnant I always weighted between 115lbs and 120lbs. When I was pregant I blew up to 185 lbs. They put me on a "fat diet". The worst thing that could have been done and wasn't necessary. After I had my kids I dropped to 156lbs, where I stayed for a long time till I got sick of feeling fatigued and incapable of moving around. I worked out, and ate right and brought my weight back to around 123-125lbs.

This past December, I had surgery and gained some weight because I had to stop working out for a while (hence the membername last10lbs)

Since then, I was cleared to workout again, and I am back to 125lbs. I Couldn't find my really heavy pics, but I found one where I was heavier than I am now and scanned it.

Anyway, here they are......

It can be done! and the fact that you are keeping yourself in such good health will make a difference! Also, let me offer you some unsolicited advice.....go with your gut! When you get pregnant don't let them tell you you have to stuff your face! Your body will take everything it needs from you for your baby!

There is a great book called: What to Expect When Expecting. Here is their site:

Oh, and lots and lots of cocoa butter, mineral oil, any oil based moisturizer anywhere you spread....bottom, boobs, thighs and especially your tummy!) and you can avoid the streach marks, as you can see I do not have any and I had twins!

take care,
Diane

Thank you Taz, you are very sweet :)

Stomach and butt? well....I did lots and lots of sit ups, ab crunches, leg lifts and obliques for my stomach. for the but, lunges, squats with weights, rear leg lifts, deadlifts (when I went to the gym).

I've incorporated many types of exercises over the years. I do yoga, we have a weight machine, an incline trainer, resistance bands, weights, physio balls, running (though I don't do that anymore), floor exercises, etc....

In areas like my stomach and butt I did more as well as rotated different ones in and out of my "routines".

Eating right? well, I cut out the fats, sugars, any junk foods, kept the salt intake low, lowered my carb intake (as I tend to indulge there), ate chicken breast, turkey breast or lean beef, and lots of fruits and vegs (love superfoods...lol). I basically tried to keep a balanced diet and when I wanted a treat I would have fruit bars, jello (I happen to like it...:) ), popcorn or a smoothie, etc.... Stick with things you know are healthy. Try not to over indulge.

I cook/make everything I eat, no processed foods.

You need to figure out what your daily caloric intake should be to maintain your weight and lower it by a reasonable caloric deficit. With the right diet and exercise the weight will come off. With cardio it will help you burn fat. With strength training it will help you build muscle.

Hope this helps :)

Do, keep telling yourself you will get there, because you can and you will :) Patience is a great virtue when working towards a goal...

well, I'll be honest, there is still some "jiggle" there....lol :) even though my tummy is flat, I still need to build up muscle to get more definition, fill in what loose skin I got, and get that 6 pack to show.

With pregnacy comes a lot of changes to our bodies. Some of those changes are due to genetics. Loose skin on our tummies and extra "padding" are some of what we have to deal with. The ability for us to get it to tighten up through exercise and building muscle is limited partially to what our genetics are.

Can you get rid of it? depends on genetics :) I think mostly you can, enough that it will make a big difference and you can feel good about yourself and what you have accomplished thru diet and exercise.

Keep going and you'll see it was worth everything you worked for :)

take care,
Diane
