Maybe documenting it will prevent me from lying to myself :]

My stats are 5'8'' and 397 lbs. One of the biggest problems with my weight is that I tend to hold it well. I definately do not realize how much I am weighing in at by just looking at myself, and no one would guess my weight either. Which although may seem good, is a big problem. I also tend to like to cheat myself by pretending the things I ate are less calories than they are, or making some sort of an excuse on why it is healthy for me. I am starting this diary as sort of a hope that I can document what I am eating and the exercise I am doing, that way I will not be able to lie to myself.

Hello Hightrepidation and welcome to the forum. Making this committment to yourself is a great 1st step. I think you will find our forum to be very helpful if you use it...and by use it, I'd suggest you post something every day...most of us post our goals, what we ate, our thoughts about the day, our exercise etc. Some of us post pictures of our progress (or lack of)...we don't judge each other...we try to be constructive..and supportive. By reading your post, I suggest you put a quote from Shakespear somewhere meaningful to you..."To thine ownself be true". If you are serious about wanting to lose weight, then this is a good support network...lets be real though...it is alot of work...and it is SOOOO worth it!! I've been on this journey for about 8 months...it is a journey and process...not an event we can check off!

Good luck on your journey and I look forward to keeping up with your progress!

Sarah
