Mary's Progress to Becoming a Fitness Model

I've never done yoga. Sometimes it looks painful.

Well like anything, I suppose if you practice it enough, you too can bend yourself into a pretzel with the best of them. But seriously - with a good instructor, you could do a lot of good things for your body and mind.

I took a yoga class for college last semester (it was way more credits than any of the other phys ed classes, interestingly enough). It was 1x/week, and I would have enjoyed doing it more, but it was great for stretching and probably would have been extremely relaxing if I could've turned my 800mph mind off. The instructor was how I thought a yoga instructor would be(no offense to any more mainstream yoga teachers! :) )...extremely hippieish, wore toe rings, and didn't shave. I don't even know why I associate those traits with a yoga teacher!

The gal I work with and I had a talk about this yesterday - we couldn't decide if they were like that and then took up yoga, or if yoga made them that way. We thought it the former.

Yea i associate hippyish people with yoga too :) o well  But yea i am going to do it again tonight...i definitly need a lot of work considering i can hardly touch my toes lol but i cant wait to see progress...but i just love the impact it brings to my thoughts and feelings. My anxiety just great reduces right after i do it...i just feel so relaxed and i always crave chai tea haha. I would love to do all those fancy moves like bend myself into a pretzel (ouch maybe not)

Well today i slept till 11  After weeks of waking up early it felt AWESOME. But last night i was so exhausted that i fell asleep without planning my meals. O well...i will just plan as i go through out the day and see how i do. So far so good...for breakfast i had kashi cereal w/ fruit and some coffee. My meals are kinda messed up today cuz i woke up late but o well. I work at a day care center and today is the last day (they end when the school year ends) ill miss them all but monday starts my summer long job of being a nanny for 2 wonderful girls (age 5 and 7) i cant wait. my major is elementary education so this will be a great learning experience for me YAY.

Today is lower body workout and cardio :) o and im purchasing a tennis racquet!!!! I have no idea how to play but im gonna learn whoo hoo.

Also this week has just been wonderfull...since i have been actually eating enough, i treat all the people around me better.....i usually would snap at my family just cuz my body was starving for food and my personality took a toll from it....then i would feel really guilty about it. I LOVE THIS WEEK ;)

Glad your week is good. Mine was good. I never plan my meals ahead of time, but would be good to do. I just walk in the door and say we are having this or that for supper. I'll get the meat planned in my head and go from there. Make it up as I go along.

As for tennis, just take a friend w/you and hit the balls back and forth. That's what Greene and I do. No keeping points, just out for fun. You'll get a workout doing that.:D

thanks! yea one of my college professors played tennis religiously and her arms were to die for...i was very jealous haha. But yea i think me and my boyfriend are going to play some tennis tomarrow if it doesnt rain...no score...just for fun :)

crappp i was doing my yoga with candles and some wax fell onto my carpet and the carpet is fairly new and i dont know how to get it out...lol o geeez...any ideas?

wow big day today....i went to this awesome health food store with one of my best friends and their prices were pretty fair...if my friend didnt drag me out of the store, i probably would have bought them all out :) haha but yea i cleaned my room...it doesnt even look like my room anymore im so excited...theres so much more open space to do yoga whoo hoo!

I worked out today and it was great....and i weighed myself and lost a pound :) Last night me and my good friend who always seems to relate to me sat outside with some chai tea and just had some deep talks. It was great. It really just benefited my feelings and thoughts. I feel like i grew up in the last 3 months more than i ever did in my entire life.

Anyways...going out to dinner now....sry this is brief but today is a busy busy day for me :)

Seems like I'm left out now. I think I'm the only one who isn't doing yoga. It scares me, don't want to turn my body into a pretzel, but it does look like it would be good thing to do when you get home at night and wind down. Might have to look into it.

awww thanks slim! i really appreciate that. I love love love keeping this diary andi love all of u...i never had such a great support system before so thank you :) and she..dont worry about having to twist into a pretzel....i am really not flexible at all...i cant even touch my toes until i stretch a bit....u just have to start small....dont get a yoga ADVANCED video....i got a bunch that said for beginners or they have a person in the segment who does the moves differently for beginners....it really shows progress fast....i feel more flexible and my posture is improving :)

No, never even heard of them. For a dork, you can spell booty.:D Sorry, had to say it.

Today was my make-up work out day but unless Greene just twists my arm until it's broke, don't think I'll be doing them. Instead I did 4 load of laundry and some cleaning around the house. Maybe he'll forget about it and not mention it for awhile.

yeah pirate's booty tastes really good...but be careful if you're prone to overeat because it's really addictive. i can't keep food like that in my house or else i'll eat the whole bag in one sitting. also, it's expensive...
still yummy though :)
