Well, I have been listening to lots of videos by Dr. Berg, a proponent of intermittent fasting and low carb diets. He has a quiz to see what body type you are in his system, and I am the insulin resistant type he calls the Pancreas Body Type. "This type has a series of symptoms: belly fat, nervousness, poor memory, craving sweets, being tired after eating, being sluggish throughout the day, achy joints, worsening of vision, and difficulty to go on a long period of time without the need for a snack." This is uncanny how many of my symptoms it nails. So the cure is a low carb diet with lots of leafy greens for potasium and intermittent fasting, which has been hard to do because I feel shaky if I try to fast. I bought one of his books on the body types, too, and what each type particularly needs.
So I loaded up on healthy fat yesterday (ate a big bowl of Thai coconut chicken soup I made in the new crock pot gadget which I love) and skipped breakfast this morning. I just ate a big lunch (kimchee, tons of zucchini, a salmon patty, and a kale shake) and I am fine so far. The hard part is going to be no snacking between meals. I think I'll grab some nuts so they count as part of this meal because I adore nuts and know I am going to want to snack on them later.
Took my mom to the doctor for about the 3rd time in 3 weeks because her blood pressure is so high. He said that if her blood pressure doesn't come down, next time he's sending her to a cardiologist. So I am making most of her food for her because she has zero understanding of nutrition and if she did understand it, she is so forgetful, it would go in one ear and out the other. We just came from the grocery store where I picked her out salad things for when she wants snacks, and I took her for her favorite walk on the cliffs over the ocean. The sun even came out, and I ran up and down the steps to the ocean every time we got near stairs so I got a little exercise.
Cate, hope you are having a lovely time with your sister! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
