Well....here I am. I'm not new to the forum, but I haven't been around in a long while. It's time to renew my commitment to a healthier lifestyle...not just for me, but for my family. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and a mother to two beautiful children (5yr almost 6 and 2yr) and I just turned 30 before Christmas :eek2: It's now time to rid myself of the unwanted weight that has been hanging around way too long. Hope to meet some great people with encouragement and great advice.

Current Weight: 163
Goal: 130

Plan of attack: cut portions, better food choices, more water and lots of cardio/weight training.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm doing well so far...not too many boo boos in my diet. I'm also ramping up the aerobics. :hurray: I'm gonna go and work out now. I'm on a challenge and I don't want to let everyone else down!:waving:

oooh which challenge?! lol
its nice to meet you =P
getting in shape is such a
great gift to give yourself
at 30... (or any age)
see you around^^

I'm doing the February monthly challenge. We are to try to lose 1% of our body weight each week for a total of 4%. It's nice to have something to shoot for and some accountability...

Went to the chiropractor today and feeling spunky! Hope to get lots accomplished today and work out too. Today, I've had:

Coffee
Apple
several samples at Sam's (slices of light cheese, chicken, broccoli, bread, orange juice, 2
flatbread appetizers) I know if sounds bad, but the pieces were small and I don't plan to have a big lunch. Perhaps a small smoothie with fresh strawberrys & non-fat yogurt. The protein in the yogurt seems to really stick with me and keep me satisifed.

Will check in later. Have a great day to all!

Ok, I didn't have the smoothie after all. Instead I had a small portion of clam linguine (not as bad as you think) I made it homemade the other night. I reduced the amount of oil and served it with whole grain pasta. Dinner was not the best or worst....burger with oven baked fries (I used 11/2 TBS olive oil for four people) and baked beans. There was also a small portion of dip and chips involved. Definately not the best choice, but now the dip is gone...no I didn't eat it all, my husband helped. However, I only had a few fries and a few bites of the beans of which I also shared with my daughter. Calorie wise, I really didn't do all that bad today, but I certainly could have made better choices. As I try to watch what I eat, I want to focus on portion control...this has been a problem in the past even with diet or "heathier" meals, I just tend to eat too much of it. I think if I'm ever going to really lose weight and keep it off, I not only need to consistently make better choices, but must learn to stop eating so much of it. Talk about a news flash, ya think?

Not too bad considering I worked on our taxes today...that's enough to make anyone over eat!

Hey girl :) !!

How have you been? I haven't been able to get to the forum but, just checking on you :p lol !! I hope you are ok and still on the road to a better you :D later !!!

Hello! I'm here! There's been a lot on my plate the last few days...taxes are not done. We are self-employed so they take more time to prepare before taking them to the CPA. The last few days have not been great, but could be worse. I have not exercised in a couple of days...shame, shame, shame. :( That is the way I feel. Not to mention it is close to that time, so I have a tendency to eat uncontrollably and snack a lot. I know this a problem and I need to find a way to fix it. But tomorrow is a new day and I will try, try, try again.

"I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.....I know I can."

yeah girl^^ just keep trying!
we cant always be perfect.
but as long as you pick yourself
up by the bootstraps...
you will get to where you want to be in life =D

Hi Marie!

I recently started my journal too as i am trying to get rid of this nonsense known as fat. Congrats on biting the bullet and doing one as well! I hope this are going well for you. Portion control is key i tell ya. What i have been doing since this year started was change my mind set about eating. I just felt like i took eating as a privilege, and not a necessity, and i "spoiled" myself with food all the time. So now, i simply eat to not be hungry, instead of eating to be full. Once i did that, things started changing. I know it seems hard, but after a couple of weeks your body looks out for you. If i eat a 12 inch sub, my stomach hurts from eating too much, where as before i could take one down in no time. Our bodys are amazing, and once you have faith in it, it will take of you with the results you are looking for. Also the plus side of just eating until you are not full is that if you do get hungry again, you can just eat a little more! It also means your metabolism is churning through this stuff like crazy!

Anyway, i didn't come in here to give tips and stuff, just wanted to share what works for me with portion control. I don't count calories, but since hitting the gym i lose about 5 pounds a week. This comes after having my starbucks fix once a week, and maybe going out for something "unorthodox" to my normal meal regiment. Good luck and i'll be following along!

Hello Ladies! Happy belated Valentine's Day! I hope it was friendly to your waste lines! ;-). Anyway, now that Valentines is over, I shall "pick myself up by those bootstraps" and get moving!!! Kureransu- I love your philosophy about eating just until you're no longer hungry...think I might try it that way. I say whatever works for each person, stick with it!

Thanks for checking in on me everyone! I really appreciate your support...I need all the help I can get!

NO, thank you for posting on here! each new person makes us realize that we are not really doing this alone. and you give me another reason to keep at it! also, good luck with the eating habits, before you know it, you'll be seeing that a serving of this and that really si enough to keep you going! also, don't forget about drinking a glass a water when you think you are hungry just to make sure. sometimes, that glass is all you needed after all.
