Marie's Diary

Hi there!
My first diary entry!! Ok, so how much do I want to loose? Well my ideal weight is 140lbs, currently at 203lbs; the heaviest I've ever been :blush5:

I plan to take about a year to get down to my ideal weight, losing at a sensible 1-2lbs a week, by increasing my activity, and cutting down on the junk. I haven't yet worked out calories etc but will be experimenting over the next few weeks to see what works.

The main issue for me at the moment is that having just graduated I've moved back to my parents place until I get work, which brings two issues. The first being that they don't eat particularly healthier themselves and as my father has an issue of being very underweight, there's a lot of fatty foods around, which makes it hard. The second issue is that they have a small fridge and I don't have much room in it to put the healthier foods that I'd like to have around! These might sound like excuses, but I'm trying really hard to work around these things. Life will much less comlicated when I get a job and can move out to my own place.

All that said, I'm going to try my hardest to resist the bad foods in the house and increase my activity levels. So time to get off my butt and go for a walk!

Marie.

Hey Marie,
welcome! I also find it hard when food is around not to eat it. I hope I get better at that eventually, but right now I try to keep my fridge and pantry clean of junk. And when I am home at my parents' place I tend to gain a little ;)

Have a great end of the week, Camy

Ya, living with parents is hard, especially when they are on an entirely different diet then you are. Maybe you can get your own mini fridge to keep your food in? Sometimes you can find them at yard sales pretty cheap, or borrow one from a friend. Then at least you'll have somewhere to store your healthier options and feel less compelled to eat their bad foods.

Good luck Marie!

I was around your starting weight!

good luck Marie..good luck!!!!

Day 2 diary entry

Hey! So my first day (yesterday) wasn't a great start, but will start with the good points.

I managed my 1.5ltr of water easily, but to make sure I stick to it I'm not going to increase this to the suggested 2ltrs a day until I know I can meet it regularly!
Food wasn't too bad yesterday, was generally healthy, managed to exceed my 5 fruit and veg only bad thing was a two finger kit-kat that I had in the evening, though I'm putting that down to TOM cravings, not going to beat myself up about it, just will aim to do better today!
The only thing i didn't do was any exercise, no excuse, just felt lazy!

So todays plan is to continue as per my goals, so far food is going well, the parents wanted a curry from the local deli for dinner tonight, so I got them theirs and got myself a lower calorie, lower fat version from the supermarket, so I can join them in eating a curry but feel virtuous at the same time!! Will try to avoid the naan bread though :drool5:

I'm planning a walk after dinner this evening too to count as my activity for the day.

All in all, feel fairly good and feeling positive. Just gotta keep hold of that until I see the results of my efforts!

Oh also got my mum to take some pics of my in undies (not going on the site, sorry!) and will take monthly pics to see the changes I'm making as an extra incentive.

That's all for now xx

You had a kitkat indiscretion, I had a hershey bar...maybe it was just in the stars to have chocolate. I love curry, the spicier the better, but unless I make it myself I cannot get it where I live right now. I also love naan...too much...

Hehe, pics of you in your undies, taken by your mom...awkward!!! LMAO!

Tee hee, yeah I realise how that must seem! We have a good rapport though, so it's all gravy!

TOM = chocolate cravings every time! Maybe now wasn't a good time to start!

No self-control!!!

Oh my, what a rubbish start to the new me!!
My brother was visiting this weekend and so the diet pretty much went out the window. I started off with good intentions, having smaller portion sizes and keeping up with the water intake. Unfortunately, we had a few bevies which led to the inevitable snacking of junk.... Not good . I did manage to keep up with the exercise, 45 mintue walk today and a shorter 30 minutes yesterday, but I guess that better than nothing!

So, onwards and upwards from here really. Going to cycle to the loca supermarket tomorrow to get my essentials which is about a 3 mile round trip, so should be interesting! Will do better tomorrow.

Oh, got a job interview in a few weeks too, so even more reason to keep to the healthier life style :D

Closer to first weigh-in...

... and it's really kicked in that I need to have lost my first lb at least!
Although it wasn't a great start, today has been far better so far.

Went for my first bike ride in quite some time, went to the local supermarket which I worked out as a 3 mile round trip, was absolutely shattered after it! Lots of hills so had legs like jelly by the time I got back! I enjoyed it though and that's the main thing. Will be off for a walk after dinner today too.

Foodwise, not too bad. Have not quite managed my 1.5ltrs of water, have about 500mls to go so should be on target by the end of the day. Had a massive salad with a handful of roast chicken from yesterdays dinner with low-fat vinagrette dressing. For dinner I have a jacket potato and some grilled pork and a side salad.

So far so good!

Someone's trying to tell me something!

Ok, I just tried to make a coffee with a little cream in and it split; methinks it means I wasn't meant to have it, so I admitted defeat and had a normal coffee with semi-skimmed milk. Tastes just as good.

So this got me thinking why I wanted the cream. Perhaps i'm missing some vital nuetrient. I once watched a programme where a man spent two weeks purely listening to his body's craving, no matter what they were. He never planned his meals and didn't keep much food in the house, he just ate what he wanted when he wanted it. After the two weeks he had a medical check-up and they found that his body had all the nutrients it needed. I think I really believe this, particularly if I've had a few days binging as I start to crave fresh food, fruits and vegetables and salads. So what could I be missing? I've already had a few cups of tea today and had milk with cereal, so it can't be the dairy. Maybe it's the fat, but surely not??!?! I certainly don't need any more of that! I think i'll have to just ignore it for now, and see if I still want it later.

Otherwise, I've done pretty good today. Went for a long walk around the local fields. I love it there, it's so peaceful, particularly walking through the wheat fields, really clears your head. I think i'm getting right into this walking mallarky!

As with cycling, after my bike ride yesterday I have... saddle-butt! Ouchy! I'm so sore I couldn't bear to get back on it today, but will try again tomorrow in the hope that i'll eventually get used to it, I'm sure I did before when I cycled regularly.

Food wise, I haven't hit my fruit and veg or water intake, 500mls off and 2 portions of fruit and veg off. Might have to eat some fruit in a minute to see if I can make up for this. Breakfast was a bowl of fruit and fibre cereal with semi-skimmed milk, Lunch was a big bowl of salad leaves, tomoato and cucmber with 3 slices of mozarella cheese, then dinner was meatballs, a small portion of pasta and 6 small meatballs. Not too bad, compared to what I was eating before (all the pastries and chocs and crisps).

Took my Dad out this morning as he wanted coffee and a doughnut, so I went in the shop, got him a coffee and a doughnut, and got a doughnut to take home for mum, and I actually managed to resist getting one for myself! Didn't I do well! I'm rather impressed with myself as I'd usually have dove straight in. So here's hoping that when I do step on those scales there is a little loss so I can see my efforts working!

Crazily busy times

Hey, where ya been? Let us know how everything is going.

Matt

Hey Matt, things have gotten a bit crazy lately. I finally got a job, Yay!! So I'm looking at moving and trying buy a car and all sorts of stuff whilst learning a new area so things diet and fitness wise have gone out the window a bit. hopefully once I'm a bit more settled I can get back to my plans.

So I probably won't be posting for a little while until I get properly on my feet in the job, (also because I won't have internet access for short while!).

Thanks for your message, it reminded me to post something on here!
Hopefully be back in a few weeks with new aims and goals. :willy_nilly:
