Luvmydane's Journal

Congrats sweetie!! One of the best things in the world is becoming a parent. I wish you the best in your pregnancy :D

Thanks guys! Im super excited! I want to be the fittest pregnant woman ever now! haha:D

Just remember now is the time to really listento what your bod is telling you. I hope that you are talking over your workout plans with your obgyn so they are aware of what kinds of things you are doing. I envy you I wasn't allowed to workout in either of my pregnancies, I was too high risk. It might be worth your time to see if you can find a pt that has a lot of knowledge on working out through each trimester. I know a woman that I can ask to talk to you online if you want. This person is very smart and works out hard just like we do. She is also beginning to write for a magazine so that pregnant women get good sound advice. PM me if you want to talk to her and give me your email and I will pass along the info to her. :D

Good advise,

During the wonder full stage of "prego" your bodys need for many different nutrients raise (sometimes even double). If these Raises are not met, in most cases in can lead to a deficiency in the mother (or even worse in the child).
some nutrients you might consider supplement with and in order from least to greatest in terms of need.
Folic Acid,Calcium,Iron,Zink,Magnesium,Vitamin E,Vitamin D, and Vitamin A.

And im sure you know already but ill state it anyway, No diets, of any kind. Low carb = bad, Low fat = bad, low protein = bad, correct amount of all three = good:D

I wish you the best:D

Excellent advise silent!! A good materity vitamin will take care of the extras you need as far as minerals and vitamins etc. Eating good and expecting to gain some 30lbs will help to get your head in the right place as far as your new evolving shape. Getting your bod back etc is easy after if your eat right during.

WELL I got very upset today. As you know I am 6 1/2 wks pregnant. I have not been to the dr. yet. I go first on March 20th. However, I spoke with a nurse today and she told me ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING AND NO LIFTING WEIGHTS OF ANY KIND THAT WEIGH OVER 20LBS!
WTF!
They havent even seen me yet in their office! They dont know whether I count for high risk pregnancy or not (no probs thus far that I can feel). I asked her if I could do those activities after I got a clean bill of health and she said NO! wHAT THE HELL!?
Everything I read at babyfit.com and other reputable websites, maternity mags, etc, say that you may continue to do the activities that you were doing,, as long as you are not starting something ''new''. Are these people nuts at my dr's office?! I cant imagine losing ALL i have gained, though i know that in time I will lose some...Obviously i wont be able to run near as fast at 9 months pregnant! Believe me, if something was wrong with my baby, I would totally go on bedrest if needed, but to make everyone quit running and lifting?! Seriously? Ugh. What would yall do? I know plenty of women who have run and lifted through pregnancy.

Well I'm sure not everyone is the same but I ran/swam and did weights through all 3 of my pregnancies, and I really didn't slow up that much at all compared to when I wasn't prego. I listened to my body and backed off when needed but for the most part I kept up what I had going, and what my body was used to. I even ran 2 miles the morning my son was born (very slow at that point of course!). I went home in my regular clothes with all 3 kids as well and lost all baby weight within 2 weeks with each. I think its really highly dependant on what kind of condition your body is in and what you're already used to. I've never heard of stopping lifting or running unless its a high risk pregnancy. I'm not really sure what you should "do", aside from finding a new dr! But thats just what I did.

I did not post for awhile cuz i got lazy! but still been working out! I promise!

3-20-07 Monday

I did 20 HIIT sprints-

3-21-07 Tuesday

Today was a lighter weight day and high reps. I don't normally do anything like this, but until you actually do it, you have no idea how much high reps with 30 second rest periods could make you wanna cry for yo momma.

***I have had to reduce the weight I use a bit since being pregnant. There is a hormone the body produces when you are pregnant called relaxin. It makes joints more prone to injury because it softens ligaments and tendons to allow your bones to spread for the birth of your baby. Ok, is that too much info? Ha.***

Hypertrophy II B (rest is 30 sec between each)

Snatch Grip Deadlift

45lb x 21, 45lb x 18

Superset with full rest:

Dynamic Lunge 8 lb db x25,

8lbdb x 14, and continued with 5 lb db x11

Step Up

2 sets @ 5 lb db x 25

Incline Reverse Crunch

2 sets @ 12 reps

Hanging Knee Raises

7, 6

Rotary Calf Press

4 sets @ 90lbs x 10

ha! well its reality! Yeah be careful as you continue the weights. Those ligaments and tendons really DO get loose and the last thing you need is an injury and pain on top of the changes your body already has to deal with!
