lower abs

Hi everyone, ive been training my abs for a while , and the crunches and the air bike have given me good results ..but nothing seems to do it for my lower abs, i mean, i have like a 4 pack and it looks really ridiculous! ive tried the lying leg raises without seing any results.I really dont know what the problem is, its true that the lower are is more difficult, and even if i dont have fat around there, i have like a little hanging skin, i still consider they should be a little toned..Any suggestions, excercises, welcomed.
PD: im training at home.

Congrats ont he progress you have made! That is really good. Most people do not see their lower abs until their body fat gets really really low. I'm sure you are working them well, but you would probably have to get your body fat down really low before you could get rid of the fat that is covering the. I am a figure competitor and I don't start to see my lower abs until I get down to about 10% body fat.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your suggestion Sarah, but im concerned about losing weight..The thing is im skinny and i dont want to loose my legs and my butt, so im kind of in a dilema. :(

I see what you mean. I used to be really skinny and while I had some flab I didn't want to lose weight and be skinnier. Do you do any weight training for the rest of your body? If you did that you might gain some muscule, and then you would have more definition and it would not hurt to lose a litle flab since you would be a bit bigger. I have been weight training heavy for 4 years and I have gained some msucle and I look much better now. I like lean and definaed but not too skinny. Hope that helps.

you are a female and are at 10% body fat? How do you do it? I dont know what i'm at but i know i want to lessen my percentage.

Hi,
I am a figure competitor, so for my competitons I have to get down to 9-10% body fat. In the off season I let it get a little higher. It is hard to get that lean. If you would like to see pics I have a few on my website:

I bet you can lower your body fat if you work at it. ;)

Lying Leg Raises are great, and another I have found is this:

Lay down in "crunch" position with your butt against the couch and legs bent 90 degrees. Do 50 crunches, 50 pulses. You can also add twists, Russian twists, etc... really hits the lower abs.

This is supposed to be done against a bench instead of a couch, but I only feel it against the couch.

Try a roman chair workout and/or hanging leg raises. These are the best advanced lower ab workout you can do. If you can do either of these with your legs straight and for 10+ reps, try adding ankle weights.

Also, make sure you completely burn out your lower abs before moving on to obliques or upper abs.

Just keep working, time will tell!

Sarah - You look fantastic! Excellent work!

Raising you legs (lying and upright) will focus on your lower abs. That is not to say that this movement won't workout your upper belly, because it will. But, your lower abs will burnout faster and they are pinpointed with this movement. So, I would do Roman Chair first, then move onto a slant board workout. BTW - I would do weighted crunches instead of situps.
