Lost 70 lbs...

Hi all,

I'm new here and thought I'd start this thread. Reason why is it's not to brag about weight loss because personally I feel like I still have a way to go, but my Family keep telling me I should stop losing weight and tone up because they think I look fine while I feel I still have another 2 stone (28lbs) or so to lose. I currently weight 16 stone even (224) at 6"1' and my Mother has told me I look skinny, even though anytime I look in the mirror I still see a fat person. She says it's in my mind but I know I still have a lot of weight to lose.

I said I'd come here to hear from others who have gone through, are currently going through or looking to go through the weight loss regime as many others do each year. What's your opinion, any criticism/advice etc... is gladly welcomed.

Me when I started (I honestly can't remember when I decided to start, I think it was in February or so) - guy on the right

Couple months afterwards - on the right again

Another couple of months after that - on the right again haha

These are the latest photo's of me available... these are taken last August 31st

- On the left

I'm the top left guy, taken this time last week

Let me know please if you think I should continue losing weight (Which I think I should) or not.

I agree with mamaq, you look very fit and healthy

Congrats on your success!

Thanks for the nice comments... in response to Genesis2011 I basically did what anyone on the internet seems to tell you. Just cut out the junk food. At the start I went around 3 months straight without any sweets, chocolate or crisps (chips they're called in the U.S.) and fried food. I started buying oven cooked fries whenever I wanted some fries, made sure I only ate 2 slices of bread max per day, and probably the best tip is get to know your GDA. I can tell you off the top of my head how many grams of fat I'm allowed or calories and it really helps when you do want to break out and snack. I try and choose the 'healthy' junk food, or healthier I should say. I have completely cut out chocolate from my diet, haven't had a chocolate bar since I started, the calories and saturated fat just isn't worth it.

I walk to University everyday and walk back so I get at least 40 mins of walking into my daily routine and I lift weights up in my room. All simple things, I say simple in terms of simplicity to understand, but to actually do it is tough but it's worth it :)

AWell done...I am going to share your thread with my almost 16 year old son....he is about 30 pounds overweight in the "real" world...but perfect as the starting center for high school football. I would rather him be healthy ...its a battle...and I agree with your mom!! we usually are always right!!

Well done!!! what an accomplished!! :hurray:

I lost 97 lbs and feel the same way. You don't look thin, you look athlethic, lean and toned. Which is good. You look really good, actally.

I'm happy other people can relaet to this. My parents say I don't need to lose anymore weight either, I always feel I do. I still see a fat person in the mirror as well.

I think it's part of losing the weight, the mind takes awhile to "catch up" or something. I have Body dismorphic disorder (BDD) From it.

**UPDATE**

Down to 205lbs now at the moment, goal is 200lbs and focus on maintaining the weight. 200lbs was always my goal, time to shred the excess fat then :)

Myself and my Sister

Myself and a few friends

You look really great! Congrats on doing so well. Perhaps look about what is an ideal weight for your age, height, etc. If it's less that where you are, you could continue to lose. However, I don't think you need to lose anymore.

Great job!

Hi all. Well I took my own advice and went to reach my goal weight and I hit it. 14 stone was always my goal weight (196 lbs) and I've reached it finally. After a year and a couple of months work.

I went from a morbidly obese teenager, sick of my body and life quite frankly. XXL shirts fitting tightly to buying Large size shirts fitting perfectly. 42" waist jeans to a 34" waist, and an 18" neck to a 15.5" neck. I can honestly say for the first time in my life I feel confident, in every aspect of life.

For the last 2 weeks now I've been trying to maintain my weight and its been succesful. Haven't lost or gained a pound :) Just doing crunches and free weights in my room ever 2/3 days.

Thanks for all the kind words, this will be my last post ever on here (hopefully) :sifone:

Regards,

David.
