Hi everyone

I'm from South Africa and I'm new on this site. After reading some of the weight loss stories, I thought I should also share my success story and post my pictures to motivate other people.

I started my weight loss journey in January this year. I've always been big from my childhood. I had my first child in 2005 when I was 25 and after that I kept gaining more and more weight. I never worried much about it, as I ate anything I felt like eating. Then, last year (2009) I applied for life insurance policy with dissability benefit. Tests had to be done and my weight was also checked. The outcome was, I would only be offered life cover without dissability benefit. Reason being, I was considered to be high risk because of my weight. That was in October 2009 and I weighed 125kg! I'm 161 cm tall. That got me thinking and it's only when I became very scared. I didn't want to die before time and leave my son.

I made up my mind in January this year to lose the weight. I told myself it would be the most wonderful gift for my 30th birthday. A friend of mine suggested diet supplements but I refused. Something inside me told me I could do it without pills. I started by changing my diet altogether and only eating when I'm hungry. I gave up junk food and had fruits, veggies, fish and chicken. The weight started coming down and I joined the gym in April. Since then I haven't looked back. At this present moment I weigh 76 kg. I look good and I feel good about myself. I'm aiming to weigh between 68-70 and with the will power I have, I'll soon get there.

All the best of luck to everyone

Ah.maz.ing. You look incredible! :) Great work, fershur. I have a friend who hasta pay almost twice the amount for her health coverage ALONE because she's overweight... And she has 4 kids- hope she has that same "do it for the kiddos" attitude as you soon :) Keep up the amazing job lady!

Oh wow, what a transformation! You have lost a ton of weight and look AMAZING. Great job for refusing the diet pills, too :) Awesome work!

This is absolutely inspirational! I hope you will stay along and continue to share with us your weightloss and new lifestyle progress.

Hi All

I just thought I should post my latest pics. I now weigh 69 kg and I feel very healthy and very, very happy!

Congratulations on your success, and avoiding the temptation of die-out fads like diet pills.

You will undoubtedly reach your goal!

Hi Nombu
Congrats you look great and so happy.
I'm also in Sunny South Africa and lost 30kgs from aug 2008 to Aug 2009.
Since then I have maintained for the most part but still need to lose another 12kgs.
I am battling to get into the "60's" hovering between 72kg and 75kg.
Please tell me how you are doing it. I really need to push through this hurdle.
Thanks for your pics they are inspiring.
I am in Durban and you?
Congrats again
Lisa
