Lose weight diet

Hello all,

I'm a new member to this website and i'm seeking some advice on losing weight and the proper diet to take.

My targets are to slim down, and then tone my body. I'm a little niave with my plan at the moment, and would appriciate some input from the members of this forum.

So this my diet for the moment

Morning - Porridge with fruit
Mid Morning - Nuts and Raisens (Few handfuls)
Lunch - Salad, Rice and maybe some Ham or chicken Followed by Fruit.
Mid afternoon - Some fruit or Nuts
Evening Meal - Chicken, Vegetables, Potatoes, Fish...I normally select either the fish or the meat.

I also drink plenty of water through out the day.

Its basic at best, without any saturated fats, or over comsumption of sugers.

My routine at the gym is this....

Up right bike - 5 minutes
Running Machine - 15 Minutes
Cross Country - 15 minutes
Rowing Machine - 15 Minutes
Downward Bike ( if thats what you call it) 5 minute cool down.

This at the moment is my plan for losing weight over the next few weeks. Hopefully, if this is the correct approach for me at the moment with the aided experince of the forum members, i will be in a position to begin weight training. Would i need to improve this any futher?

Thanks

It looks like you have a good plan! If I might make a suggestion or two...

Meals: add protein to your breakfast, have a protein, carb and fat at every meal, eat brown rice vs. white rice, I'd replace these snacks instead of raisins because raisins (being so tiny) can add up in calories without you realizing it (carrots, apples, plums, or grapes). Other protein snack selections- low fat cottage cheese, 2% string cheese, plain yogurt add some fruit, edanamie beans.

Workout: I like your 15 minute bouts of exercise. Keep mixing it up and don't let your body get used to it.

How many days are you doing cardio? Let us know when you are going to add in your weight training- maybe we can help.

Good selection though!

Thanks for the reply...

Since i am a student my budget it pretty limited to what i can afford, but i have come up with a simple breakfast plan, it goes like this.

Wholemeal toast, with cream cheese on, and a Banana with a class of orange juice. Would this be any good? I understand that Cottage cheese as a high source of protein, but just looking at it makes me gag (not the biggiest fan)

My lunch time meal could variey between salads with rice and a Chicken/Turkey Sandwich on wholemeal bread. What fats could i use during my lunch time meal?

I think the balance of the evening meals are just fine, and i could cope with adding a few extra items.

Its understandable with the snacks how the calories could pile up, but would nuts just be ok? along with graps?

My gym plan is in its infancy at the moment and i plan to do at least 4 days a week, without any weights. The weight taining will be reserved for the Toning period after my cardio program.

Hopefully, some of the above makes sense.
