Loosing about 10 or 15 pounds...?

hey guys...im new here. My first post. Anyway, im 17 and just joined the gym. Im skinny all over, accept for the fact that I have a gut. I dont know how to get rid of it! Ide like to get rid of it by june. Maybe loose 10-15 pounds is all. What do you guys suggest? Usually at the gym I bench abd use the situp machine. I put 50 pound son it and do 3 reps of 50. Works great! But I need somethnig else to do. I heard running in hte morning is the BEST way to loose weight fast. Is that true? Any help would be awsome!

Welcome! As always when we have new people I have tons of questions...

1) Do you do any other weight training besides abs and bench pressing? You should do a full body routine where you work all of your muscle groups.

2) How is your diet? 90% of the time the problem lies within the diet.

I do my cardio in the morning and it works for me. It really depends on the individual though. I don't eat before I do cardio and I don't have any problems. Some people feel weak in the mornings though. I also do my cardio in the mornings because I'm lazy. If I don't get it over with in the mornings I know myself well enough to know that I'm never going to do it!! :)

I need to watch my diet a litte more. But I heard that running in the morning peaks your matabolism, and helps you burn more food during the rest of the day. Im going to run in the mornings, and than go do my weights. I workout the chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, upper back and legs. Hopefully i'll start seeing some results.

Are you running on an empty stomach? If so, make sure you have a snack before you lift weights.

Running in the morning is a controversial subject (regarding whether or not it helps your metabolism). If you did a search on it you'll see several different opinions.

I would eat before working out. Even if it is just a small glass of water and banana. Otherwise what is your body burning for fuel? ;)

As Teresand77 said, there is debate over what time is best to workout. Do it when you feel it works best for you.

To lose the additional 10 pounds, you need a great menu, a full body routine that fatigues your muscles and mixed cardio intensity levels. Here are some tips to get you going.

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

2) Drink a cup of water at each meal.

3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week.

4) Cardio. This should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions.

5) Strength Training. Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method. If you need more guidance or exercise ideas you can head over

All of the above things combined will result in fat loss.
