Hi my name is John. I'm new around these parts and wanted to share my story which ofcourse isint over.

So a little about me. Well I will be 25 june 4th. I enderwent GBS surgery 7-25-06. Its something I thought I needed since I wanted to loose alot of weight quickly and I thought exercise wouldn't be enough. I was 445lbs and it was gross. Although finding out later the surgery in many ways is bs anyways. Its not perminant and it certainly won't loose the weight for you. I knew this and I knew the surgery alone wasn't going to fix it. I had to change my eating patterns and workout like crazy.

I'm happy to say i've been training hard 5-6 days a week for 9 1/2 months now and eating 6 meals a day slowing increasing my calories as needed. Soon I will be eating over 3,000 a day and that prolly still won't be enough. I've lost 216lbs so far just in this time and have gone from a heavy asthmatic who couldn't walk down the stairs to running 10 miles a day.

I really enjoy my training and fitness lifestyle now. Mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, and running are all a part of me now. Still weighing in at 229lbs I've still got some work to do. But, my last body analysis showed 17%BF with a nearly 200lb LBM. So im pretty close. Prolly within 25ish lbs of my ultimate goal. Which is 10%BF holding clean above 200lbs(I've been spending alot of time building muscle mass so I can get cut).

I've been through so much and what i've learned is that you can do anything you want too. You just have to ask yourself what you are willing to sacrifice. I was tired of being a fat guy who was outta shape. If you truely put you're heart and soul into something you can make magic happen. Some pics of my journey thus far.

You do rock!

Wow.

216 pounds in 9 months?? You are a machine! Let me be the first to say thank you for sharing with us. We so often read and hear about the difficulties involved in "making it" and don't see enough of the true success stories. You may have a little way to go, but you are already my hero in a big way. I am sure you will inspire many people here, especially the bigger ones who may have felt a little distraught in the past.

Good luck with all your future ventures, but not with your weight loss. From what I can see you dont need any luck at all in that department, you have already got it figured out!

Thanks a million for sharing!

I didn't see this post until after responding to your previous thread. Again, that is amazing to lose so much in so short of time. You are where I wanna be. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your story.

thanks for moving the thread mods. I really debated on where to put my entire story. Duh diary. lol.

thanks again.

Just curioust to know how tall you are -and how was the recovery process fro the surgery?

and will you have to undergo followup surgery?

Yes I will have plastics done. I'm 6"1. Currently got a LBM of 197lbs(muscle and water weight no fat).

I just have to say its wonderful ... the changes in diet...especially exercise that you have done ... :)

You rock!

but I have a question ...
What kind of plastic surgery? if you don't mind me asking ..
I was thinking of doing the surgery ...but I am only 296 ..so I don't see why I should ... I am doing pretty good ... I exercise everyday ... no matter what ..
I am on that challenge... at least thirty minutes a day ..

just got my sister on a spin ... she took a twenty minute bike ride ...she is where I was ...walking up hills etc... it can be tuff in the beginning ... when you are starting out ...but than you gain momentum and its wonderful ..

well I hope everything continues to work out .. :)
congrats!

always

Im going to get a TT and prolly a leg lift. This thread was done awhile ago. I'm pretty much at goal now at 208lbs. I have a 34" waist. I think im going to go to a 32" waist and i'll prolly end up somewhere around 190-195lbs. I won't be there until plastics though. I think I can reach 200 even pre plastics. Thats my ultimate goal anyway.

I've gotten to where I just eat all the time and alot. 5k calories a day is normal for me now and im still loosing weight even though im taking a break from heavy training. I will prolly start weights heavy next week.

Oh my goodness that is amazing....you look amazing!

help a sista out...shoot you need to be my personal trainer!! LOL
seriously, you look great! I've just started to do a lot more weight training too....wow thats all I can say right now!!

Good job!
