Loose skin and bulking?

So i have heard some different opinions on this issue. I have had loose skin for a while after losing 127 pounds. I am 19 years old, i currently weight 165 and i excercise 6 days a week. I eat very healthy and have one cheat day a week. I have heard that by bulking, my loose skin will expand more to fit my " bigger" body, thus making the loose skin tighter. I have also heard that by losing weight the skin will tighten up. I am confused here, any thoughts? Thanks.

well, i suppose bulking up, making you're muscles bigger would make make them press more against the skin. Id say, if you sdtill got alot of fat, which i dounbt you do, then cut. but at 165, bulking might not be a bad idea, just make it a slow controlled bulk, so you dont go back to you're previous body.

It can be hard (sometimes impossible) to get rid of all of the loose skin after a dramatic cutting like the one you've obviously had. Bulking should help fill the skin out more, but make sure you stay hydrated and well nourished. You are young enough that your body should be able to make the skin tighten eventually.

If you find an answer to this one, let me know. Intuitively, bulking up would be the correct approach. However, as tm says, time has a tendency to correct all things.

Did you lose the weight using an exercise regime that includes weight training? So many of us (like myself, with a similar weight loss) start out stupid and don't. My hopes are that over the course of a year or two of hard strength training and trimming my bodyfat as much as possible, the problem will correct itself. I've done a lot of reading on the subject, and other than eating healthy, that's really all you can do, unless you want to take the cosmetic surgery route.

hey thanks for the replies. And as a response to Focus, yes, i was lifting with a personal trainer since day one. The skin mainly sags around my tummy and my ahem..boobies. Other than that my body is hard and nice, it's just those trouble areas. I think i will go for the slow and gradual bulking phase. I have been attempting to bulk for about 2 weeks now, but with the amount of excercise i do do, it's tough to actually gain the weight, because i do eat healthy. I'm gonna try to eat more throughout the day because i know i do not. I have also been taking creatine( for about 6 months) and drinkin protein shakes daily, so lets hope some change happens. :). Thanks, any comments would be helpful.

Well, if we are all trying for basically the same thing to get rid of saggy skin hopefully one if us will get there without surgery and can share a method.

I dropped a little over 100 lbs about 6 years ago and it is not tightening up at all so far, a skin doctor told me it could take 30 years and sent me to a plastic surgeon, I don't like the idea of spending $4000 or the min 8 weeks to recover plus the chance of croaking on the surgery table. So I did some research through the internet and even books at a library if ya can believe that and some people say the key is losing more fat to get the sub-cutaneous fat gone. Theory there is that the fat right under the surface is whats making it saggy and keeping it from tightening back up.

Anyhoo after that long story, I am about half done a plan of adding some muscle and cutting more fat, my approach is to add some muscle mass for a few months then going back to a calorie deficit to cut down fat. I am going to aim for single digit BF next time round the cycle and according to my research if I hold that for a while I should see results of the skin tightening.
