Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Yeah no surgery, can't afford it and it's just my left pinky after all.

Had a bad evening last night out watching football. Being weird sucks. Celebrated by eating four protein bars when I got home and then wrote a message to myself before going to bed.

So 174 this morning. So far so good today. Had a good workout.

Being weird, if that's what you are, is so much better than being boring, which you most definitely are not- intelligent, interesting......I could go on, but won't. Hopefully you will start feeling better about yourself & see what most people see in you Vee, xo Cate

I used to think I was weird (and face it, I am), but after a good thirty years I starting finding some people who matched me and I didn´t think they were weird. Which has made me more picky about the company I keep but also nicer to myself. And incidentally: I decided that if I can find friends I can actually be myself around I will no longer be satisfied to date guys who want me to change. Which is why I´ve been single since, but also why I think it´s fine to be single.

Long story short: you are fine the way you are and you are capable of finding women who match your flavor of individuality. Anything else won´t make anyone happy in the long run so keep putting yourself out there in different environments. Hugs if they´re appreciated.

The hugs are very appreciated LaMa and Cate. I'm just mad at myself and that's okay. Sometimes it's what it takes to motivate me to stop screwing up.

Perfect day yesterday food and exercise wise and I'm back down to 172.5. Right now the goal is 158.5 and that would put me somewhere between 10-12% body fat theoretically. If it does, that will be absolutely the lowest weight I will drop to. After that it's try to add muscle in earnest.

Legs day today and I pretty much nuked myself. I ended the workout with planks, otherwise known as "gradual torture." I deserve every last second of it and they're good for me so...

It's crazy how much of a pain in the butt a pinky can be. Way to formulate a revised strategy and execute in short order.

Also listen to LaMa and Cate. Good stuff!

So I just made a minor alteration to the "pets" section of my dating profile. Tell me what you think:

"I like puppies. But the truth is you simply have to braise them, or else they never get tender."

I just don't understand why I'm not having the success I'd hoped...

I do hope you manage to have something done about your pinky, yea it's only a small finger... but I broke a small insignificant toe about 4 years ago and if I'm wearing open shoes or walking a lot it hurrrrrts. I'm assuming it's just arthritis because my toe was munted, but I can definitely see that happening with a broken finger too. Which would be annoying as you have to grab/hold/lift things in whatever you do.

Ha, on the dating profile thing... you will probably just be hearing from cat people!

That's a sore looking pinky in the xray! What would the surgery entail, exactly? Are you on any tissue repair supplements? MSM is awesome stuff for repair. Comfrey + Arnica is also amazing (known as 'knitbone'). Hope you can find a way to straighten it back out again!

LOL to your pet-profile section. If you ever want to meet/pick up women, my sneaky tip is to learn to ride a horse. Trust me on this one.

Or get a cute dog!
But don't eat it!
You're a very funny man Vee & some woman, one day will be a very lucky woman when she finds you!

The pinky is splinted and has been for a couple of weeks now. Have four weeks left. The fracture is actually the most minor part of it. It's the double dislocation and especially the torn ligament (called a "mallet finger") that the doctor wanted to fix. But the money's just not there and the finger just doesn't seem as bad as the x-ray looked. Hell, I played basketball again two days after it happened. The splint should help the "mallet finger" (and it already has) and maybe a little of the dislocation, but one of the dislocations is decades old. I'd love to get it fixed, but it just doesn't make sense at this point.

171.5 this morning. My lifts have continued to go up a little which is really good. Once the weight starts dropping off in earnest, I'm hoping just maintain as best as possible.

Apparently they have to do some sort of air conditioning work in my complex, and apparently the best place to get at what they need to do is in my bathroom. So for a few hours today they're gonna be messing around in my apartment. Think I'll go get my haircut...

Pinky doesn't sound too bad then... I can understand it's probably pretty annoying though!!

I hate it when there's work going on in our house (even if it's something we requested, like a repair). I feel like I can't leave... but it's awkward being there... I dunno. Haha.

I was getting all set to leave when he said "okay, i'm finished" and then he walked out. Was there maybe 15 minutes (they told me "a couple hours"). Okay.

Anyhow 171.5 today which is good since yesterday was a "rest" day. Got my pull workout in this morning and used my new $10 straps. gonna take a little getting used to and still felt a little pressure on my pinky, but otherwise they worked pretty well.

Gonna get my haircut today. Tonight is going to be a challenge as I never am able to tolerate staying in on a Friday night, but the only things to go out and do to socialize are things i shouldn't be doing. I'm also really short on money so I can't really afford it. Sunday I have a concert I'm going to: the Old 97s! One of my very faves.

They have a great sound Vee. Glad the straps helped. I wonder if you managed to stay home after having a haircut. I love having my hair cut!

172.5 this morning despite doing pretty well last two days. Gonna add some HIIT cardio now.

The good news is that I feel like I had one of my best lifting sessions today.

Weight fluctuates like crazy when you're at GW it seems. Well done on the good lifting session Vee, xoC

Alright this morning was 172 with a pretty low reading on the BF% monitor.

Finished eating for the day, and despite a chaotic day where I couldn't control my environment, I think I did okay despite my only home meal coming at breakfast (bowl of cereal).

Started my new cardio plan today, but will need some tweaking. I can't run at speeds higher than 10 MPH on the treadmill anymore, since they capped all the treadmills at the club at that for top speed. At level ground, that simply isn't fast enough for anything remotely HIIT levels. So I'm carefully going to increase the incline by 0.5% every time until I get the workout I want. Today at 0.5% incline at 10 MPH was too easy (my HR topped out at 158, and it needs to top out at over 170 ideally. At least 165. So next time 1.0% incline at 10 MPH. That would be Saturday. Today was a day off from lifting. Legs tomorrow.

A good lifting session always feels great :)
Hey Trusylver, wonder if I can bother you for some quick free advice (since I can't afford to pay for it): I've gotten some conflicting stuff on my hand position on flat bench: I know that close grip is a big triceps worker. But I got some advice from two different sources (both seem like legit enough guys) to make my grip wider. When I did that, it seemed like it really started to work my shoulders more.

Is there a sweet spot for my grip width that gives my chest the best workout it can get? That's where I could probably use the most help, and I do all sorts of other stuff that works the shoulders (usually after I bench). Or should I just grip it at whatever width allows me to move the most weight (which seems to me to be wider and gets the shoulders more involved)?

Or you could tell me to stop trying to hit you up for advice I should pay for. :D

Close grip will target more tricep, Wide grip will allow more to be lifted and work the chest a little more but will put a lot of strain on the shoulders especially the rotator cuff, a moderate grip a little wider than shoulder width gives a good balance and doesn't kill the shoulders.

The main reason powerlifters often go wide on grip is to reduce the range of motion, I have short arms and my grip is middle finger on the bar markings. (Rules in comp are that the grip must cover or be inside the bar marks)

grip is a very individual thing, arm length will change what is comfortable for you.

I find that DB Bench works chest better than a barbell bench but can be modified to target triceps more.

If your looking to build a bigger bench, strong triceps are a must.
