Exactly. The measurements given by a method of body fat % measurement is less important than the overall trend of the measurements. As such, my Amazon-bought ~$30 device is more than fine.

180 this morning with 18.6% on the BF monitor (a new low).

Way too many beers last night, enough to where I walked home from the bar. I must have been either charming or amusing because my fellow bar patrons kept buying me beers. Must do better, or else the 160s will be a long way away.

Got a little unplanned exercise today as I walked back to my car this morning. Personal training in about an hour. Will be four weeks of personal training left after today.

Beer is more hassle than it's worth. No really. :cheers2: I bet you sweat like a hog in personal training after that night. I hope you're out on a mountain today. Happy Saturday!

I did indeed hike today. Tried it fasting, and didn't have breakfast until after the hike. Seemed to go ok.

179.5 this morning.

Hi Vee, Just caught up with your diary. Sucks on the turkey opting out of your date. Silly woman! Great going on the new low, & the new low BF , even with the varying readings. You are doing awesome! I have missed my forum buddies-I just had so much trouble getting an internet connection in Darwin. The place sucks I reckon. It's great to be home, including back on here! Cheers, Cate

Okay 178.5 this morning after a day in which I visited my parents and watched football (the pointy kind), and then went out with friends to watch the World Series. So I spent virtually an entire day sitting around watching sports surrounded by food and beer, and managed to make it through relatively intact. I'm actually a little impressed.

Anyhow I was thinking yesterday of maybe starting a new page elsewhere on here dedicated to exercise resources (and sample workouts). I have learned an awful lot about the exercise portion of this process in the last 28 months or so and figured I might share some of it. Going to look over the forums and see if there's an appropriate place for it. No training today, but I will do a workout of some sort (probably some non-basketabll cardio of some sort). Training starts up again tomorrow.

I think the exercise page is a great idea--You and lots of others have benefited massively from it so why not share some! Glad you had fun with your friends :) Well done on avoiding ze beers xo

178 this morning. My 30 day linear trend puts me at 178.8, which is the first time that number has been below 179. My original target for the final October weigh in on Friday was 179. Hopefully I'll at least maintain.

Personal training today, four weeks total left.

On the subject of exercise, I did indeed start a thread in the exercise portion of the forum. The first post was just an intro, but a bunch of the stuff I've posted here the last few years will all sort of congregate there. Feel free to pop on by!

178 again this morning.

Yesterday's personal training:

Find my one rep max on bench press. (This took a while). And then the workout (dear god):

6 bench press reps at 70% of the one rep max (this weight is the same throughout). There are no rest periods throughout this.
250 meters going as fast as I can on the rowing machine with medium resistance. (this takes about a minute) Straight back to the bench.
5 bench press reps.
250 meters on the rowing machine with medium resistance.
4 bench press reps.
250 meters on the rowing machine with medium resistance.
3 bench press reps.
250 meters on the rowing machine with medium resistance.
2 bench press reps.
250 meters on the rowing machine with medium resistance.
6 bench press reps (the 6th one was REALLY difficult but right when I thought I couldn't one last push got it up there).

There aren't really words to describe the way I felt at the end of that. The rowing by the last two sets of 250 was just excruciating.

More training today though I'm guessing this will be a far more standard lifting day (I suspect legs which means squats).

5..4..3..2..6?!

That sounds brutal. Pressing 70% for reps while your heart is racing sounds awful. Way to finish strong! Either he is pushing you to excellence or he really doesn't like you. Hell, maybe both?

Did you track HR through that? I'm guessing it would waver between your anerobic and high aerobic range.

I look forward to seeing your exercise thread.

I believe the reduced number of bench reps was not so much to give me less reps to do as it was to give me less rest between rows. Since there was no more rowing, the last set went back to the full 6.

No I didn't track heart rate. Bench press wearing a heart rate monitor is uncomfortable. For me anyway. My breathing was extremely labored during the rowing, though less so during the bench. I'm guessing after the first 15 seconds, I was up into the 160s with it topping out around 171 or so. Probably drop into the 140s while benching. Guessing based on my exertion levels. It was a legit HIIT workout to be sure. 15 minutes of hell.

My trainer is a former Army ranger so I'm guessing this is essentially his version of PT. He does seem to take perverse pleasure when I'm exhausted though.

I think you'd be surprised how high your HR will spike during major effort lifting. It may be brief and/or post lift, but pay attention to your HR the next time you do a max or near max lift and don't have to go directly to intense cardio. I've not lifted with an HR monitor either, but a big deadlift and I can hear my rapid HR post lift. Of course you are in much better shape than I ever was so your mileage may vary.

I think you have to be a bit of a sadist to enjoy that occupation.

Just burly man!

179 this morning. It's Halloween. I have no costume and not much else to say on the subject either.

Personal training today.

Tomorrow is November 1, I'd really like to see a loss 4 pounds or more in the next month. Which of course would mean that by the end of November I would have lost over 200 pounds total.

Tomorrow is picture day.

Vee, you are going to be skinny, surely, when you lose another 4lbs! Halloween is starting to become popular here, after all this time. It's funny really. I hadn't even heard of it, when I was a kid. Look forward to the skinny arse pics. I might need a magnifying glass ;) Cheers, Cate.

Didn't realize you guys weren't into Halloween in Oz. Still trying to decide if I have the nerve for the shirtless pic tomorrow like I promised/threatened.

Hope all is going as well as it can be, Cate.

Going to try and get going on my exercise resource thread this weekend.
