Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Hey MrVee,

You are doing great!

Just keeping on working with what you are doing and you will be great!

Most importantly, stay focused and not being distracted by your unhappy past or anything that does not benefit you in the long run.

Alright back on the horse this morning 191.5.

Saw the Old 97s in concert last night. Was a whole lotta fun.

81 as a high temp today. 87 tomorrow. 88 on Sunday. And then the likelihood is that will be the last of the highs in the 80s until October. The hot stuff is coming and coming soon. Going to try and get out and enjoy it while the nice weather is still here.

Yay, you're back!

It's getting chilly here! Dragged out my poofy slippers and enormous dressing gown to get through the mornings, hehe! At least our winters here are really short, I'm over it already!

Alright 189.5 this morning and back under 190 which is good, considering the health and work chaos I've suffered through since around mid April. I think I can get in front of things and back on track.

Going to try out a sprinting regimen this morning, and maybe do that for cardio for a week or two and see how I like it. 30 seconds of all out sprinting followed by 90 seconds of walking at a local park. And then repeat. For now I'm not going to try for a specific number of repetitions, I'm just going to pay attention to how my body feels and then stop when I think I should. Will use a longish warm up and cool down.

Anyway happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there. Going to see mine after my workout.

Good to have you back V & also back into the 180's. Running hey? I would love to have another go at running. I used to be a runner. It seems like another lifetime ago now though, but if I get the OK from the Cardio, I might just have a go again! Cheers, Cate.

I'm trying to get out as much as possible too. It will be so hot for both of us way too soon.

Now that you are thin the weightloss has slowed for you. Sprint intervals may be just the trick. I would say that if you haven't done much running that the sprints may hurt. With all of your bball you are probably fine, but if they tear you up I would suggest some normal running sessions to prep you for the sprints. The book I am reading on running suggests 8-10 months of injury free running before doing speed workouts. Running for Mortals is the title should you be interested.

Feel free to pop into the running thread.

Yeah, the sprints I think I'm trying to design them as a more organized version of the workouts I've been getting from basketball. I've been doing plenty of sprinting and certainly lots of running up and down the court. I now want to do it in such a way that maximizes the efficiency of the workout.

As more and more folks have shown up to play basketball, and as court time has then become more scarce, the more aggressive the kids have gotten trying to win and stay on the court. So in my opinion there's starting to become WAY too much contact for what's supposed to be an informal pick up game. Naturally tempers are also starting to flare up, though fortunately I'm never a part of that. All and all, playing in these games are becoming less of a good idea for workout purposes. I've gotten banged up a bit (hyper-extended my arm a bit last week), but never anything serious. But I'd also like to keep it that way. Have had no luck trying to find an over-40 league thus far.

Seemed to handle the sprints fine yesterday and I'm going to monitor how I feel when I do them. I want to target body fat specifically at this point, and all of the most recent research suggests sprints are a great way to that. Thanks for the book suggestion, Q, I'll have a look.

I'm glad they went well for you. Too bad the bball is getting to crowded and intense. I would guess an outdoor court will thin out soon enough for you. I'm so much more focused on not getting hurt these days. I finally got it through my thick skull that it has to be diet AND exercise so I really don't want to derail the fun half.

Hi MrVee,

new here and just getting settled in but I got hooked on your diary right away; you´re one amazing guy! Also (please excuse my rudeness, as a stranger I have no business commenting on your appearance but I´m going to do it anyway) hot, judging from the pictures, and I really hope you´ll be seeing that yourself sometime soon.

Enjoy your healthy life!
LaMaria

Good for you LaMaria! Love a woman who says what she thinks! Mr Vee is an emerging butterfly. Just kidding V :D I hope you do see how good you're looking. We know what a good, funny guy you are, but now you are looking so fit & healthy too! Cheers, Cate

188 this morning, almost got it. Half a pound short though I think this is a new low anyway.

Going to try more sprint training today.

BTW, thanks for the kind words LaMaria and Cate. I appear to have yet another 1st date tomorrow night, hopefully she'll agree with your assessment.

Heck yeah! You are a good poo away from halftime. It's great that you are getting the dates going. Everybody has way more 1st dates than 2nd dates. That's just how it goes.

First dates are for having fun, don´t let your self-perception depend on them please. Hope you´ll enjoy yourself.

188.5 this morning

Got a bit of an upset stomach after eating Shepherd's Pie last night. Probably shouldn't have used real shepherds as my secret ingredient.

Well it's 'halftime.' Scale says 186 pounds this morning, and I have now lost 189. I am "half the man I used to be."

The next milestone is soon, it's 185 pounds. When I first signed up that was my goal weight. Looking at my body composition and seeing my ability to still drop weight, I'm going to try and lose more than that now, but nevertheless I'm a pound away from doing what, in my wildest dreams, didn't think I could do.

Date went okay I guess (I am still such a nutjob though) so we'll see what happens from here.
