Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

297.5 on the scale Monday morning. This damned cold is still here. The only good thing about it is when I take cold medicine before bed, I get to have the weirdest freakiest dreams. Fun stuff. I'm a little fuzzy when I wake up though.

A busy day today. Going to the club in a few minutes to get a workout in, have some work to do and then visiting the parents to watch the College football championship with my dad. Personal training tomorrow.

Good job on the push up!!! Hope your cold goes away, I have freaky dreams with out medicine haha! Keep that scale moving in the right direction!

Happy work-out , enjoy the time with your dad ( nothing like male-bonding over sports... so right ! )

? anymore hikes coming up ?..... sounds like your last one was fun..... maybe it was your "hiking style" ??? that caught their eye !!?? .... lol ~ good work on the fresh-air calorie burn !! ~ your picture from the peak was amazing - I'm jealous !

" The last part was a hell of a lot more like climbing than hiking and I learned that a cactus does not make a good hand hold as you're climbing. It seemed a little crazy dangerous to me .....
There was a chopper flying over the peak when I got back to my car. Maybe someone got word to the sheriff ....I was trying to make it to the top and need to be airlifted off. How dare they underestimate me!"

298 this morning. Interesting how the weight seems to drop all at once, then stop, then start dropping all at once again. Went from 306 on December 21 to 297 exactly two weeks later on January 4; 9 pounds in two weeks. And then have been 297.5 or 298 the last four days. This same thing happened at the end of November where I spent around 10 days hovering around 318 and then dropped from 318.5 to 308 in two weeks. The physiology of it all is kinda fascinating.

The model, by the way, has me at 297.5 after more than a week of weight below it.

Personal training today. Got a new smaller pair of track pants now to work out in. After that it is work, work, work.

I'm with you on the work, work, work.. I'll probably be going all night. ugh! Yay for new smaller pants though! :)

How are you working out your model weights? Always seems to be pretty accurate to what you're on!

Grats on the smaller pants (Guessing it's american trouser pants, or you'll be pretty cold out there!)

Pants like this (though not A&F):

As for the model, there's a couple of different things. First off is one that's not mine built by some folks for the NIH (i've posted this multiple times now, but here it is again for anyone new):

I've sort of reversed engineered that based on my own input data and now can more or less match up what it does with my own spreadsheet.

I also built a simpler one that simply takes how many days since I started, and converts that to a predicted weight, based on all the data that I have previously input into it. The prediction works something like ((days^exponent) * coefficient) + intercept. With the exponent, coefficient and intercept based on my weight data I've input (and obviously the intercept should be really close to 375 in my case). That one works well enough to give me a good idea of what exactly my 'current' weight really is, but breaks down some when you try and predict too far into the future.

The idea for that one is to try and identify the trend your current weight loss is on, and not getting too wrapped up in the day to day fluctuations until that trend takes a turn for the worse.

Hey mrvee, I gotta say you motivated me to start a journal, love your attitude. I look forward to your updates daily!

Keep it up!

I appreciate the kind words guys. Bit of a work crunch right now, but I'll check out your journals when it slows down a bit.

Good luck with that work crunch. Hate it when working gets in the way of doing more productive things but then again I also like having a place to live and money for groceries so it balances out.

That simulator is pretty cool to tinker with and gives some more useful numbers to play with. Beats my rudimentary excel spreadsheet from last year by a long shot.

297.5 this morning.

Found out I have to travel for work. Last time I was on a plane was two years ago and I bought an extra seat to be able to do it (I was probably around 355 then and that was actually cheaper than flying business class). My model has me getting to 281.5 by the time the trip happens, but normal sized people don't fit in airplane seats very well so I'm still concerned. Used to be you had a good chance at getting an open seat next to you, but nowadays they try and pack every flight to save on fuel costs. I tend to be far more concerned about my size making things uncomfortable for others than for myself. The weight's my own damned fault so I deserve to be uncomfortable. But the person next to me doesn't.

You'll be fine. I did fine at 300 even on a smaller plane.

I flew in an MD80 at around your heaviest weight and it was miserable. I was wedged in the seat to the point that my butt wasn't touching and the seat belt with an extender barley fit. That was a humiliating and long ass flight, but I got there. The jumbo jet on the next leg of the flight was much easier as the MD80 seats are tiny. You'll be nearly 100 pounds below that weight by the time you travel.

That simulator is quite cool, will have to have a play with it thanks.

Last year when I went to vegas I found that leg room, and seat width etc seems to vary a lot depending on airline, not sure if you have a choice of which you fly on if its for work, but might be worth doing some research into it :) Seems some airlines higher end seats are still less than others normal lol.

Steve

Hey, I think you should totally be fine!!! I agree with Quercus.

Here we have tiny TINY planes with tiny seats for tiny people!!Lol & yet I had no problem with the seat (272 lbs) - (I flew a month ago.) Also you might lose a few lbs until your trip!

Good luck!!

I agree too MrVee - ..you should be fine - ...if you want - you could ask/book for an aisle seat - then you can lean a bit towards the aisle ( if U worry about "squish" with your seat mate)...

& just think...on the lovely weight-down-ward slope U are now cruisin' on - each time U do an flight- you will be lighter...so each just get thru this one- knowing Your NExt time u fly - will be better yet !! ( already- with what you have lost- will be so much better than last time U flew.)

Yeah I'm going to tell them that I'm big when I book the flight and see if there's something that can be done. I also have a lot leeway in that there are several flights daily from here to there (two major metropolitan areas) and I won't have anything I need to do the day I arrive, so I can arrive at any time really.

I certainly anticipate losing more weight between now and then (about 15 pounds I'd guess) but you're never really sure. No long plateaus as of yet, so one could hit unexpectedly. I won't be gaining any weight anyway.

I wish I could just drive (I actually enjoy long drives and the scenery that comes with them), but it's simply way too far (West coast to East coast) to do that.

The longest drive I've ever been on was 18 hours. That was with two cranky kids in the car... It felt more like a good month. haha!

I'm sure you'll be fine with your seat, especially 15 pounds lighter. :)
