297 on weigh in morning.

Personal training today and then a busy schedule due to me goofing around a bit outside yesterday because of the perfect weather (the high was 71 yesterday). I do wonder next winter, with a projected weight below 210 next December, how I'll do without all my natural insulation. Long sleeves have done the trick almost every day. Will the thinner me actually have to wear jackets and sweatshirts?

Yup - U might need to invest in some real-winter wear....

Hahaha!! You just gonna love it!!! it's gonna be fun to buy something smaller you couldnt wear before! :)

I also worry about being cold after I lose all the weight I need to! I don't like being cold and I have to spend enough time in the cold that it's a big deal!! But I am will to deal with that, if it means being trim and fit

My dad likes to tell me stories about how, back when he was in great shape, he was never cold despite being really skinny. So if you believe that story, exercise will keep the cold away, and you have nothing to worry about.

Well 296.5 today and that's a new low.

Bought a nifty little gadget. It's a digital tape measure that has a little plug thingy where you can reattach the end of the tape to the device closing a loop around you. Then you press a button and the tape pulls taught around you and you get your measurement. So far, I'm not sure how much confidence I have in the device, but I'm gonna give it a shot and track my waist measurements as best as I can. 47.9 inches this morning.

Personal training in a bit. The weather has taken a turn for the cold, with the high only supposed to be 47 tomorrow. That may prevent me from doing the mountain thing again and sticking indoors. At the bar last night they were talking possible snow at some point this weekend, but honestly I doubt it. It happened a few years ago but not where I was at the time.

Making your way through the 290's! The gadget sounds like a neat way to have consistent tension. I rely on a constrict and then release to try to be consistent, but if I measure 3 times it usually differs. I guess when you have more than 20 inches to lose, like me, you shouldn't get caught up in the precision too much.

Do you have a goal circumference? Mine's < 40".

Not really. I honestly don't know what's realistic. When I was 25, I weighed about 180 and had a 34 inch waist (roughly). Obviously at 42 and change (which is what I'll be when I approach a possible goal weight at the current rate) I would normally not be so aggressive to try and get down that far. On the other hand, I've never worked out this much in my life, certainly not when I was 25 anyway.

I'm just gonna play it by ear. Certainly below 40 would be nice.

What I've read from a medical journal article is that measuring at the naval, males have a high rate of weight related health risk at 40" and above.

Well, I'm certainly more than halfway from start waist size (57 inches and change?) to being under 40, and I'm not yet halfway in terms of weight, so it seems like it's doable.

But I'm not so much worried about my health as I am how I look walking through Trader Joe's. :)

Different priorities for sure. I've been married for 15 years. Although I'd like to look good for her and I wouldn't mind a little notice from the ladies now and again. That has to be an exciting and maybe a little frightening aspect of this whole journey for you.

I'm comfortable enough in my sexuality to say that you are a handsome man and any dating moratorium you have is self-imposed. I don't think you'll hit a weight and say "Ahh, now I can date!". You just gotta make the decision to let the ladies decide when you're ready. In other words, go shopping.

Terrifying, actually. I think said I mentioned somewhere near the start of this thing where I felt the only thing that could stop me from losing the weight was the thought of it meaning I had the opportunity to date again. I'll save my dating horror stories for Valentine's Day.

You need to invest in a heaping bag of "Who gives a shit!". It'll be fun, the scary part is the anticipation. Just start with striking up a conversation with a woman. Or hell, just a sentence. No expectation or obligation, just working a little rust off.

I'm pretty sure that's how I got to 375 pounds in the first place. :D

I was at the bar last night, and it still feels very uncomfortable with my weight.

...Or just bat those pretty eyes of yours at someone.
Thank you jen. I appreciate it. Hopefully when I try that I won't be face down on the bar. :)

Back from my personal training, pushed really hard today. My max heart rate was 174. And since I'm 41 the absolute tops it can go is supposed to be around 179.

UPDATE: checked my e-mail, and, if I'm not careful, groupon will bankrupt me. They just seem to know exactly the right gadgets that I don't need but can convince myself I do.

Good work on the workouts- You'll hit that <40 waist in no time !

...as for the chick-terror.... & Trader Joes can be scary Enuf- even without the added "stress" of chick-cruising.....

?? maybe try & "Trick" yourself ?? - join a walking or hiking group - then while U are focused on the exercise-- maybe you might meet a like-minded/healthy living-type "chick" in the group.... U never know........& even if no suitable chickie there...at least U will have gotten some exercise out of it.... and maybe a workout friend... and maybe....more....

I just wanted to say I was impressed by how well you've been doing so far. I read a few of your posts and found them hilarious. It's a nice pick me up to see someone doing so well and fighting the good fight :).
