Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Hey MrVee - thanks for explaining your math model - it's definately a very cool motivator to have a "prediction" of what weight you will be at on any given date in the future...and
Woo Hoo to be getting into the 200's in early January- major !!

~ You talk about the "massive hole"....but 70+ pounds gone sounds more like sound construction on a healthy strong road in the right direction !! ... the weight didn't come-on over nite, so won't come-off over nite... but keep on making those good choices every day...and the journey will keep heading full forward... eye on the prize.... June 11, 2014.... View attachment 19357

..and , already , just with daily exercise you have been doing - you have already reduced so many health risks ( have you seen the U-tube video 23 & 1/2hrs ?... I'd forgotten about it- re'watched it this weekend- a great reminder that it's not just weight-loss - but also Major health risk improvement that we're doing for ourselves...)

thanks for being such a great (and knowledgeable) inspiration...

Keep up the Good work on the Journey to Daniel Craig-ville....
( ok- now I have to google Daniel Craig...sheesh...)

cheers,
maryann C.

ok- one of the JamesBond dudes....ya ya - he's in pretty good shape - good Icon to strive towards...

I've been sticking to increments of 0.5 on my doctor's office type scale, but today it was hard to tell. I guess it was closer to 306 than to 306.5 so we'll call it 306.

It's a week until Christmas and I still have way too much shopping to do. It's beginning to look a lot like a cash Christmas.

No training today. Will do something for exercise, though I don't know what.

Hi MrVee - good work on the pound down ...U are getting so close to breaking into the 200s...

Try not to stress too much on the shopping - I like your plan of cash/Gift-cards...they always fit ! ... and stress is Not good for weight-loss- it releases all kinds of hormones that hang-onto to fat...so keep thinking those HAppy thoughts...

Too bad U don't have snow where U live ... (desert eh?).... 'cause there's lots of snow-shovelling exercise here... ooodles...

have a good one,
cheers, Maryann C.

I can always drive an hour or two straight up (both north and up) and shovel somebody else's snow in Flagstaff. Don't think I will.

305.5 this morning and otherwise not a whole lot to report. Just finished personal training and am pretty beat. Starting a new project at work which is exciting.

305 and that's 70 pounds lost now. Model weight is 305.4.

I now present the future:

No personal training today, so maybe today is basketball day. When I get back from the club though, I better get my ass out Christmas Shopping.

I don't know who wrote this (wasn't me), but it's been around for a while. Although it probably applies more to our Aussie and Kiwi friends than me right now:

Palm trees wave, are you listenin' ?
In the pool, water's glistenin'.
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland.

Gone away is the blizzard,
Here to stay is the lizard.
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland.

In the desert we will have a picnic,
Cactus, rattlesnakes and the sun.
Christmas dinner is an old tradition,
It's pinto beans and tacos by the ton.

Later on, we'll perspire...
As temps rise even higher....
A warm sunny day, we like it that way,
Livin' in a Phoenix wonderland!

306 this morning. 305.1 on the model.

Finished personal training and don't have another until Wednesday. Tomorrow is supposed to be the warmest day for a while, so maybe I'll do some mountain hiking. Have a Xmas party Saturday night where I'm gonna try and be my sociable self. Fortunately it isn't likely the kind of party where a lot of alcohol will be consumed, so it shouldn't complicate my diet any.

Feeling a touch languid right now though I don't know why. Even using the word "languid" is kind of making me lugubrious. I've mentioned this before, but it is a sizable adjustment from being able to eat these sorts of moods away to not being able to. So right now my strategy is to try out using ten dollar vocabulary words on an internet board to cheer me up. Surprisingly, it's kind of working. How fortuitous.

305.5 this morning. New model weight of 304.9. Finishing Christmas shopping and then a Christmas Party tonight.

Managed to reverse engineer the NIH weight loss model to my satisfaction. Not perfectly and it's only applicable to me so far, but it comes pretty close to getting it right. Much closer than my homemade model. Like the NIH model it also estimates body fat for whatever that's worth. It (and the NIH model) say I'll be under 25% body fat whenever I get to 207 pounds. Apparently when you lose that much weight, you wind up with a much lower percentage of body fat at that kind of weight than the average person who has just been sitting at that weight. Whatever.

Anyway, having the model reversed engineered allows me to do a bunch of additional things, including matching the inputs much more closely to my actual results. This suggests I'm losing weight slightly more rapidly than the NIH model suggests, because I haven't been on the same plan from the start (it's complicated). All of this means I get to revise my ETA date (185 pounds) up into early May of 2014. Yay!

Hey MrVee - a pre-Xmas moutain hike sounds lovely ( I think I remember a picture a bit back in your diary- the country-side there is beautiful)- ... great way to burn some cals & de-stress preXmas.

Good work on 305.5 - steady as she goes eh ?.... :hurray:

Hope the Sat.nite party is fun - good plan to focus on fun & folks- and keep the bubbly-refills limited.

...and thanks a lot for all those fancy words- now I gotta google languid, lugubrius, and fortuitous... ..I think "fortuitous" is like "fortunate"... but languid?

.. I miss carb-support too...it's "different" not having carb-parties to sooth feelings anymore, ...but Yup- hard to believe-but U can "deal" with stuff other ways... boards, I like listening to motivating/exercise/health podcasts, and exercise actually perks mood too...

Neat work modifying the NIH model ( ..."reverse engineer".... is that like the conductor being in the caboose?... me not very computer saavy...) - anyway- earlier ETA of May 2014 ! excellent...

Have a good one,
cheers, Maryann

Basically reverse engineering is the process of figuring out how you got to the stranger's couch you're sleeping on this morning from the bar you were at last night.

Thanks MR. 304 again on Christmas Eve. The model says 304.2, right on target. Today is also challenge weigh-in day. Still trying to come up with some more undignified celebrations for 299 day.

Interesting fact: when you misspell it 'Chirstmas', one of spell check's suggested corrections is "Masochist." I'm not sure what to make of that.

Anyhow that'll be it for me until after Christmas, so I hope everyone here as a great Holiday.

Hey MRVee - Happy 304 on Xmas EVE Eve....

Warmest wishes, ....here's to a "moderation" inspired holiday., (& a little indulgence too eh ?? hee hee ) ..

cheers Maryann C. View attachment 19410

Hahaha masochist... Spell check and auto correct are terrible, I miss-spelled pretty on my phone once and sent a message saying I just bought a Nazi dress (instead of a 'pretty' dress) to my mum. Yea that got a few OMGs, whats, and then giggles!

Hope you had a great Christmas Mr Vee!! And congrats on the steady drops in weight, unbelievably close to the 200s now!!!! So, what will the celebrations for that day include??
