Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

That's really good that you are that close to the size 34s. It looks like your ideal weight may make up its own mind despite the goals you set. If you hit 34s without losing much more weight then losing nearly 40 more pounds seems like a bad idea. You may be much closer to goal than you think. It might just be a different goal than you had in mind. I hope you hit the 34s soon!

Here's hoping this is your final trip back into onederland. You've had the most linear weigtloss I've ever heard of and then it just decides to hang up for a while. You could try cycling your calories higher for a little bit and then a bit lower than normal right after to see if that does anything. For instance instead of 2,200 calories you coud eat 2,500 for a few days followed by the same number of days at 1,900 just to see if that gets things moving. Or a high day low day one after the other with a similar swing. I realize that it has the scientific rigor of astrology, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Of course I'm being a bit hypocritical because it doesn't matter what number the scale says. If you are still shrinking then you are burning body fat.

Well I did some unintentional cycling last night thanks to the fine folks at the Miller Brewing company. :D

Anyway, 199.5 again this morning. I'm going to have to knuckle down a little on my beer consumption if I want to get where I want to be.

Too much of my life "where I want to be" had a central role played by beer. It's been over a month and I miss it from time to time, but I don't want any anymore. I think learning to moderate it is a hell of an achievement. I can't do it. At least not yet.

You've moderated very well or you wouldn't be where you are now, but certainly knuckling down for a bit will help.

Hi V. I know I'm a little bit crazy (maybe more than a little bit) but consider the possibility of a part of your brain holding you back from actually reaching your goal weight. It can be a little scary. It was as I was getting close to my GW back in 2007 that I found I had to deal with a few mental 'demons' & saw a counsellor for the 1st time in my life. A part of me was saying that everything would be perfect when I lost my weight, but it didn't change what I thought of myself & that needed a fair bit of work. I don't think it's a bad thing that you are not losing any quicker than you are, although I'm sure it has been a bit frustrating for you. It's great to hear that you have started emailing via the online dating site. Some smart woman will reply favourably soon. I have considered putting a link to your diary in the "Motivational" section of the forum as I really do think you are an inspiration to many. Cheers, Cate.
PS I'm not suggesting that you NEED counselling btw. :blush5:

Seems as though you’re in Onederland to stay! Very happy for you! :)

As for those ladies who haven’t responded yet, don’t fret. The right one will reach out. Just be patient. I don’t know if you know of this site or not, you probably do, but you could always check out meetup.com. I haven’t done any meets yet, but it seems like a great way to meet people with similar interests. Some events may be free while others may have a fee. Check it out! Maybe you’ll find something that’ll peak your interest. :)

Well there haven't been a lot of these lately but...

...198.5 this morning. That's a new low.

Ankle is getting closer to 100%. I'm no longer restricting most of my movements. Went mountain hiking on Sunday. Right now my main restrictions are intensity and duration. Don't want to go into hard runs, and don't want to extend how long I move around on it for too long.

Personal training this evening. Today is core day, so I expect much suffering.

198.5 again this morning.

Started tracking a new thing a while back that's essentially a linear formula for the last thirty days. That formula put's today's weight at 199.1. All it really is doing is averaging up my weights for the last 30 days, but it also takes into account a flat rate of loss for those thirty days. So my average weight for the last 30 days is 200.5, but there has been a slight downward trend at a rate of about 0.1 pounds a day. Days where I didn't weigh (about 7 of the 30), simply don't get fed into the formula.

So I'd say 199.1 is not a bad guesstimate of what my "true" weight is right now.

199.5 this morning.

Going to buy a pair of blue jeans today. Also want to hit the driving range today as I'm playing golf for the first time since the ankle sprain tomorrow.

Last three weigh-ins 200.5, 201, 199.5.

Running some math, if I don't lose any muscle mass from now until 185 pounds, I'll be at a good bodyfat%. Whether I can lose the last 15 pounds without losing some muscle mass is hard to know, but then I shouldn't lose so much that I wouldn't be able to put it back on once calories increase, and likely I should be able to add more than I lost.

That is to say, considering how much things have slowed down on the weight but not on the waist, I'm putting my goal weight back at 185 pounds for now. We'll see what happens once I get there, but for now that will be the time I consider switching to maintenance calories.

Hoping to get there by my birthday in August if not sooner, but the losses will have to pick up for that to happen.

I think you may have to start thinking in terms of "am I doing everything right" rather than "am I losing weight". You neccesarily have to hit a point where weightloss slows as you get closer to your ideal weight. Notice I said ideal not goal because ultimatley you can predict and plan for what weight you should be/want to be, but it may not be accurate or acheivable.

I would say that if you are consistent in your diet and exercise for 6 weeks without a weight change that you might be at you ideal weight or at the very least at the maintenance level for you combined calories and activity. If you can't reduce calories or increase activities without losing signifigant muscle mass then your at goal.

I realize that you have changed your goal so these are obviously things you are considering. I just thought I'd put in my 2 cents in case it was helpful.

You might consider using the weights that you've been since you've stalled to work out a new predictive model for loss. It certainly seems like you've hit a distinct new phase. I would call it the "skinny people problems" phase. ;)

Monday morning scale says: 198. And hey! that's a new low.

Q, I do have a 30-day linear model set up which just tracks my weights for the last 30 days and gives a simple linear equation. Right now that has me at only -0.23 pounds a week. However for the last 60 days it's -0.72 pounds a week and for the last 90 it's -0.87. An average of -0.6 pounds a week from now until 185 would be fine by me and would get me there by mid-July.

Maybe I'll go back to tinkering with the "recentness adjustment" thingy I have on there somewhere. I can also use the NIH model if I like. But yeah right now there is no easily defined curve that both fits my past weigh ins and my current ones.

Well you could go with the quarter pound a week numbers with heavy favoring for recentness so that it will adjust quickly should your loss rate pick up or stay pretty accurate if it doesn't. Or go dual axis map .23 and .6 and just see where your actual falls. You'll know eventually and I hope you see a return to a faster loss rate.

Keep in mind that you haven't stalled or plateaued completely. I would say a week is a long enough time to reduce weight variation noise and .23 is lots slower than what you've had, but it is still a rate of loss. I would say a week of zero is a concern and 2 weeks of 0 in a row might mean something has to change.

197!! this morning. Back to back new lows and a nifty pound drop. Just for fun, here's the chart of my weights and the now over-optimistic model:

Ankle still not 100%, but I'd say it's 95%. Indeed the ankle itself seems fine, but I have lingering numbness in my big toe, and if I spend too much time on my feet, the inside of my shin gets sore. Personal training tonight.
