Living under major power lines

My wife and I are looking for a house and have found one that we like. The problem is that it is in a new development that is under some of the areas main power lines. The house is brand new and the neighborhood is going to be really nice when it is finished but some people said that living under power lines like that can cause health problems. Does anyone know if this is true?

I think there was a major study in Europe done on this, and they found no adverse effects. Have you tried Google?

I honestly would not recommend you live under high voltage power lines. These lines release NIR or Non ionizing Radiation. Xrays are ionizing meaning they Directly cause molecular damage.

Non ionizing supposably does not cause this Molecular damage, however, Their is this thing called "structural isomerism". N-I-R at a certain frequencies Vibrates molecules to such an extreme the molecules begin creating friction, from this extreme vibration Heat is generated (this is actually how a microwave works). BUT the theory on structural isomerism is this. The friction can cause substantial damage to the surrounding molecules, often tearing them apart or forcefully deforming them. In a sense N-I-R is capable of doing Molecular damage At the correct Frequencie.

Now all electrical devices emit this NIR, your tv, computer screen, anything that uses/emits electricity. However the amount emitted by High voltage power lines is quite large in comparison to that of your Fridge. In theory if one lived close enough and for long enough of time, it could eventually be harmful, however this is a theory.

Or you could just google and read the same stuff Silent is and decide for yourself. I personally would try to find more reputable sources of information than the internet before you decide not to buy a home that you really like.

Unless he has access to my computer he cant read it. That came from a report on the safety of microwaves i wrote a year ago.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll definitely look further into it. I'll have to see how close the house actually is to the lines too. I would think there would have to be some type of code but I'm not sure but I'll read up on it

I knew i had some notes somewhere on my computer about a study done on this very subject ;) They were berried in my Documents under Water for some reason :p

In 1979 researchers edward leeper and nancy wertheimer found increased cancer and leukemia rates in children who lived near High-voltage power lines. another study published in 1993 by Institue of environmental medicine at the Karolinska institue in stockholm, , sweden found a strong connection between risk of childhood leukemia and houses near high voltage power lines.
