Little John's trying again. And again. Aaaand again.

Just the horns, Oakley Dokley?

It wasn't super-easy, but I survived the weekend without overdoing it, per my plan. Saturday I went to a friend's house with the intention of eating just a sandwich and some water, but they made Bagel Bites. Disgusting and delicious Bagel Bites, I had too many of them. BUT, I made made up for it by having a light dinner that night, in spite of my initial plans of having sushi delivered (along with something tempura).

I liked what my scale said this morning, so it worked out well!

Life is all about compromise! Maybe bagel bites over sushi isn't the most normal of compromises, but it sounds like you made the best decision for you. Good job!

Yeah - it was more about making up for compulsions, there was a cookie sheet full of them just sitting there, and hey, what's one more, right?

Ha - Bagel Bites are miniature bagel pizzas*, and pizza roles are miniature calzones. Neither should ever be eaten more than once a decade.

Good day yesterday, until the end. Good calorie intake, got a 420-calorie row in while watching the end of Night Watch (cool Russian horror-thriller on Netflix). I had an 800 calorie defecit for the day, until I decided I could have a bedtime snack. Ugh, it's amazing how quickly they add up - glass of small milk, handful of trail mix and a handful of Nilla wafers - wow, that was an 800 calorie bedtime snack. Sigh...

Anyway, that's yesterday. Today's Vegetarian Tuesday at the Little house, and I'm starting a new lifting regime tonight, I'm looking forward to trying that session.

*The jingle sang the following:
Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at suppertime.
When pizza's on a bagel, you can have pizza anytime!

Those night time snacks do add up quickly.

I just looked up the calories on the bagel bites.. 200 calories for 4 of them! I won't be having any. I forgot about the jingle. haha!

Good luck with your new lifting regime!

True story: I make up my own words to that jingle constantly. Sometimes related to the food I am currently eating. Sometimes related to activities. It's fun, you should totally try it.

You know, I was never a huge fan of pizza bites. Also, I wouldn't let the snacks get you too down. Some days the best you can do is break even, you know?

I have accidentally seen some bagel bites at YouTube, never know any of the foods you ppl away from the European mainland talk about. Probably a good thing, we have to go to our capital (which means either do a sleep over at a ferry or cross through Sweden, so never really do that) to get even just a McD or 7/11. We got smoked fish and French fries haha.

Good luck with your new lifting regime!

Mmmmm, I love smoked fish, it's a little on the pricey side here, and I want to do it myself someday.

New lifting regime was good, a lot more efficient and less time spent doing set up. I like to do circuits so I'm always lifting but letting muscles rest while doing another exercise. The previous workouts were 3 circuits of 3 exercises with 2 sets each exercise. Last night I started 2 circuits of 4 exercises with 3 sets each. It went more quickly since I only had to set up for 1 new circuit.

I also did my first go'round of deadlifts, and I feel good about them. I know they can be done incorrectly and result in injury, so I started with lighter weights, watched a few YouTube videos to point out the right and wrong ways to do it, and focused on my form. Lower back is a little tight this morning, and my quads are achy, but I feel like I did it right. Hard to know for sure when you're doing it alone.

Rowing tonight, not sure what dinner looks like, but I didn't bring my usual can o'soup for lunch so I'm buying lunch. Big ol' salad tonight, perhaps?

Weighed in this morning, I realize it's been a while since updating, but it's been (slowly) going in the right direction. Down 9 lbs to 332.

That trail mix may be the death of me, though. We got a bag of it from BJs, so of course it was a 55-gallon drum full of raisins, cashews, almonds, peanuts and M&Ms. I know that, in the grand scheme of things, trail mix isn't the worst thing for you, but it's so calorie-dense. Then you get the cravings to just chew on something, and there's that huge bag of salty/sweet/fatty goodness with the misleading name of "Trail Mix"... I don't think I can break double-digits thinking of a hike where I really could have used the energy in trail mix.

Anyway, I came in under goal last night - barely. My row was somewhat mediocre, but I still knocked it out. I think my everything was a little fatigued from the previous night's lift.

I've been craving a nice heavy IPA for the last week. I might have to stop at the package store on the way home tomorrow to celebrate the end of the week.

Maybe portion some of that trail mix out and hide the rest? Put it somewhere crazy inconvenient to get to. BJs is a problem... I try to avoid their snacks unless it's something in individual portions. My other half wiped out most of a family size bag of potato chips in two days, I think. I had a small bowl, thankfully, so at least he didn't have to say he ate the whole thing.

I deal with calorie dense stuff with a digital food scale, snack baggies, and the calories written on the bag. It's made me better at estimating servings when the scale isn't around and I have stopped eating certain things once I really got a hand;e on the calorie per amount. Don't worry about one having more candies or raisins. If they are all divvied up in proper amounts the calories will be correct on average.

I happy you have been losing. Slow loss is sustainable loss. Heavy IPAs were my specialty. I will need a report on selection and results please. Imperial IPAs are awesome.

Yeah, I need to start using my scale more - I was doing that when I used to make my frozen meals - 3 oz chicken, 2 oz starch, dump in a lot of veggies, top off with 1-2 tbspn of sauce and sprinkle with salt. Throw it in the freezer and done.

Last night was good, my wife made some completely awesome crockpot chicken - Morrocan style, I think? Raisin, green olives and lemon among some other seasoning. Had a really good row, too - not my best, but I was definitely winded for most of it - HR around 150 the whole time.

Still dreaming of my IPA tonight, it will likely be an imperial, so I'll fall asleep in front of the TV by 9, but that's not until after I've lifted and had dinner, so I'll be alleviated of all responsibilities. Dinner tonight: black bean burgers with aged cheddar.

9lb loss - good stuff! I know what you mean about smoked fish - I really enjoy smoked haddock. You are doing really well with maintaining the exercise.

I've never tried a black bean burger but I really want to. I bet I'd love it. Enjoy that IPA, you deserve a little treat! I am meeting up with some people tonight and got to pick the location. The place has a ton of really good looking beers. I'm thinking a Belgian quadrupel because I'll only need the one.
