Lisa's Final Countdown, The Good Days, the Bad, & the Ugly

Do you have an iron defficiency too? I've been anemic for quite some time now so that's definately a struggle when you're sooo tired all the time. I was told it takes three months for iron pills to work at its best and if so that's lame because I need to start back on mine again.

Yea I do. At first I thought its something that went away but in my case the doctor said to just take the iron because I'm anemic when I don't no matter what I'm eating. It runs in my family. I was really good about taking my vitamins and metformin before the move but not since. I know when I don't take it I'm going to feel tired and crappy sooner or later but I never seem to learn. I'm glad you said something because I'm going to go find my iron right now and take some, lol.

Good Girl ! Take your pill :) Haha.. I hate the size of them. I'm not a pill taker and they don't go down so well. Just to be completely off-topic my grandpa takes Tylenol and CHEWS THEM because he says they kick in faster but still.. ewwwwww...

Tee hee. You sound like you had the kinda day I usually have. Mmmm.. deli sandwiches. Thank god I love 'em because they SAVED me. Although I can't get over whole wheat bread. I've never been able to, blech.

Yes, I'm picky.. I accept it. Haha. :D

I have never been a fan of reeses pieces. I prefer the miniatures. LOL. *slaps self on hand* I think for me, exercising gives me more energy. Even a quick trip around the block. Or even stretching in the mornings. I hope you get a good night sleep tonight!

Morning Brandy! And yea I went to bed last night at 11 cuz I was doin laundry. Unfortunately my hubby woke me up when he came to bed at 5am and shut our AC off and then tossed and turned. Got up at 7:30. Honestly though even when I seem to get sleep I'm tired or have no energy. Today I really need to find my iron and put that with my daily vitamin in a pill minder because I'm sure thats not helping. Well off to class, hope you have a good day :)

Laundry at 11 huh??? lol, see, no matter how bad my house is, you'll NEVER see me doing laundry at 11!!

you know,I have the SAME problem! No matter how much sleep I get, i'm usually Very tired for along time after I wake..its frustrating huh??? I'd like to find out why...but i'm sure it would entail a blood test, and yea, i'm not up for that, lol!!

I'm sure I should know this, but what classes are you taking???

btw..thanks for supporting me so much in my diary, I really appreciate it!

I'm going to assume that you have gone and done all of the research involved with anemia and possible causes? I only ask out of concern.

Last year my wife had anemia, which the doctor tracked to her rather heavy periods, which in turn led to ultrasounds etc. She had a hysteroscopic removal of a benign tumor, which then led to a diagnosis of a malignancy that the benign tumor was hiding...

Long story short, she ended up having a hysterectomy, the cancer scare is over, and she is no longer anemic...

I'm not trying to sound scary, but if you haven't already, make sure everything is all good...

I used to suffer anemia but it was a diet related anemia. It all dissapeared around the time my diet started to improve.

It sucks :(. Sorry you have it. They wouldn't even take my blood if I tried to donate and were always telling me to eat more leafy greens and raisens and such.

Reluctantcabbie is scary :(. I'm glad your wife is doing better now. That is one hell of a scare :(.

Sorry for hijacking for a minute Lisa...

She is doing great! She is a little self conscious about the scar, but it doesn't look like much more than a C-section scar. She has had her follow ups and all the blood work is good. She'll need 6 month follow ups for the next five years (that seems to be the magic number).

Sorry for being scary, like I said, it is out of concern.

Bless her heart! The scar is the least of her concern, but I can understand at the same time. Five years :( wow.

(And sorry for hijacking your journal, Lisa!)

And dont be sorry for being 'scary'! :(

Well me neither usually on the laundry but I had no clothes for class the next day :X And I took my iron last night and already feel better today. The blood test for that is pretty easy, they just prick your finger and its done in seconds. But that may not be whats making you tired and I hear you on the major blood tests, so expensive.

This semester I'm taking Chemistry, Chem Lab, and Trig. I don't think I ever said anything other than I was taking classes and there's so many people on here taking classes I wouldn't expect you to remember that anyway, lol.

And your welcome :) You've been here for me from day one so it's the least I can do, I appreciate you too! ~Lisa

Oh no I appreciate your concern :) But no worries, they did ultrasounds and all kinds of tests on me this last year alone and found I have pcos and insulin resistance. Everything looked great in the ultrasound. This has been a problem for years and it very much seems to run in my family, my mom gets it too. Sometimes I don't even know I'm low, like when I had my car accident in '99 and in the hospital I was suddenly getting iron pills, lol. Other times I'm tired and getting bruises and I realize. So I talked to my endocrinologist about it a year ago when the tests came back with that low iron again and she said to just take iron daily. I guess my body just doesn't process enough from my food even when I was eating alot of meat.

And you guys can hijack my diary any time :) I like having posts and stuff to read, lol. I'm so glad you're wife is ok though. With the cancer and all that had to be a big scare. I've had the thought before that what if I have a tumor somewhere and I'm just so big that we haven't found it. I don't have the cysts that are associated with the pcos so the extra hormones are coming from somewhere. Like I said the ultrasound ruled out it being my female parts so at least thats something. All the more reason to get my weight down to see if this stuff all reverses itself.

Thanks nibbit :) Its not really too big a deal unless I stop taking iron...least of my worries for sure. I love coming in to posts from you guys so thanks so much, and like I said above, hijack my diary any time :) Makes me feel popular, lol. Well I've lost track of time and I'm gonna be late for my chem class so I'll come back later today and check on you guys to see how you're doing :)

You know where you have one of those days where nothing goes right? Well that was not the case today, it was great :)

For starters I got to the college on time and was politely waiting for people to cross, unlike this other guy. Well because of that little wait I was able to get a front row parking spot right as a gal pulled out.

Then I get into the building and right there are tables...I mean TABLES of donuts...every kind you could imagine. Now I'd had a protein shake on the way and was starving still...had smelled every food place out my car window on the way there. But I told myself no, keep going. So right as another person and me turn and away from the donuts I heard "Ladies....come get a donut!" I walked faster, just in time to NOT have to wait for the elevator and got straight up the the 3rd floor, lol.

After class a new friend I made in my Chem class asked me if I wanted to go to Panera bread...I hesitated because of watching my weight and never been there. But she reassured me they had salads and stuff so I got to have a nice normal lunch with a friend, without worrying about every single carb like on Atkins. I got half a sandwhich and half a salad and was satisfied :).

Ok so here's the best part though. Tomorrow I will have been watching my food and exercise for a week. Last week I weighed 338. Today I weigh 332.8!!! I've lost 5.2 pounds!!!!!!
:jump:

Thank you :) I'm excited. I'm so glad I took your advice but honestly I was so afraid of what I was eating at first because I've been set in that diet mentality so long that it has to be strict. I'm so excited to have lost that weight and on something I find do-able. I've hardly suffered at all. I do realize as I get going I'm going to have to kick the exercise up and work harder but I'm already getting more energy so I don't think this is going to be hard. In fact I had the strangest thought to day that this could be...zomg dare I say it?.....FUN! lol.

I found the Panera bread nutrion info site and was able to plug it into fitday. I'm doin great so far today, only 904 including some fruit I ate today too. Oh and I bought a digital food scale today, no more guessing :)

My favorite menu item at Panera is a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese which is evil in terms of calories, so I go without. :willy_nilly:

I was pleasantly surprised to learn the nutritional content of my favorite item at Chipotle (lettuce, pico, steak, dash of sour cream, dusting of cheese). It's DELISH.

Mmmmmm that sounds good....I don't know if we have a Chipotle or not though...I haven't noticed one. I LOVE mexican food...I could eat it all day every day. That's the one thing I miss about cali now because let me tell ya, I've gotten better mexican food from a Hungryman TV dinner than I have from most the restaurants around here. In fact after eating at a local "Don Pancho's" I now call it Don Puko's, it was that bad. Man now I want some chimichangas and enchiladas....and tamale's, lol.

Off topic though, does anyone have a demanding pet while they're at their computer? My cat gets insistant and then frantic unless I keep petting her. I need to by kitty holder or something so I have hands free. Luckily my shirts are lose because now I resort to stuffing her in my V-neck shirt so her little head pokes out and tucking the bottom of it reverse under her making a kitty hammock. She's so weird...she loves it. I got up and walked around the house with her like that for a bit and my husband laughed at her cuz she's so ridiculous. As long as she's gettin attention she doesn't care, lol.
