Lindestar's Weight Loss Diary

Today, I am starting my diary. I also made a chart for my daily food intake. I used a file folder and wrote several days on the inside of the folder. I am starting on a diet I have heard several people have had some success with.

The diet is as follows. You get 2 protein shakes a day and you can add 2 teaspoons peanut butter to one if you want. You can also have 2 pieces of fruit per day - which you can blend into your shakes or not.

You can have a salad during the day as well, basically as much in the way of greens as you want.

For dinner, you get 4 ounces lean meat, vegetables (not starchy) and you can have sweet potato or brown rice (portion controlled). I'm not adverse to a small plain potato either: I think they get a bad rap.

Anyway, I need something before bedtime, so I've worked a few crackers into the program.

If I am out of town, like at a baseball game I have coming up, I will count calories that day and keep them around 1600 per day.

Today, starting my diet, I weigh 235 pounds.

If the diet gets too restrictive or boring for me, I'll make a switch, but I would like to stick with this for at least the first month, because I think it is healthy and will help me change my eating habits.

I did really well yesterday. I started today with a chocolate slim fast and a banana. I'm going to have some greens with a another shake for lunch and save my other fruit for this afternoon. I'm not sure what I'm having for dinner, cause I'm going grocery shopping after my haircut. I can see that I will only be able to do so many days a week of shakes, and then a day of calorie counting and alternate that way. Otherwise, I think things are going pretty well on day 2....LOL!! Ususally I don't make it through day one before I night eat and I did great yesterday. I think eating healthier will make me less hungry at night; at least I hope so.

Hey Lindestar, I thought I would stop by your diary and see how you are doing. Let us know how the Slim Fast diet is coming. It sounds like a healthy way to diet. Have you tried eating beef jerky as a snack? I buy Great Value sweet and hot jerky at Warmarts, you can buy it any three different flavors. Chewing on a couple small pieces helps me if I need something at night before I go to bed.

Hey Lindestar, welcome to the forum :)

DON'T GIVE UP! I think the trouble with hugely calorie restricted diets like you seemed to be on, is that they make you miserable. People start these sorts of diets because they are full of hatred towards there body, and the angry, almost starvation approach to it can't work long term.

The idea of slow weight loss, is... well.... boring. But it is the only way to keep them extra pounds off for life.

Even losing a pound a week is 52 pounds a year, and the great thing is that you don't have to make that many changes to achieve that.

A food diary really helps to make you aware of what you are eating and motivates you to do better. If you come back I will give you lots of encouragement and nagging. YOU CAN DO IT!
