Lilly's journey...this time it will happen!

I kind of feel the same way often, as I'm eating so much less than before and there is like zero progress. (I started the ticker in my sig AFTER I GAINED like 2 pounds after starting weight LOSS.)

But we can do it!! :)

I am a very impatient person, and after losing no weight today those thoughts of...is it really worth it? I'll never get there!...have started to sneak in...however I am trying really hard to push these thoughts to the side and keep on trucking :)

hang in there you can do it.!!!

as for the ice cream, i totally understand, it realy was a stinker today with the heat.

today so far...

Well it is stinking hot again here today...not that I'm complaining. We went to the beach again, and that was lovely. I also went to my mums over lunch time and was offered lunch, however as the choices ranged from cheeses to salami and everything in between I refrained and ended up eating special k and yoghurt for lunch around 4pm, which I know is not ideal, but I didn't want to be starving at dinner time.

Today is day 7, so a rest day from exercise, however I did a lot of freestyle at the beach, and that had me huffing and puffing...swimming is a lovely way to exercise!

I am really sore today from the weights I have been incorporating into my exercise...such a great feeling!

I still have not bought my new exercise shoes, but when I do I am going to start doing a bit of walk/jog/sprint to change it up a bit...as you may have guessed I get bored easily.

AHH! I totally know how you feel! You work out so hard and try to eat healthy. Sometimes you just want to have a little bit of a life and eat something and thennnn you gain weight. ORRR you still eat like a rabbit and you don't lose weight. Totally frustrating. I think you just have to push past the hump. Total uphill battle. Don't give up :)

Day 7

O.k so today went really well eating wise. It was my rest day for exercise, but the swimming was a nice way to relax and get rid of all those aches and pains.

I at 1300 cals today, which was a little low, but makes up for the times I've been over so far.

Point summary:
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day: 1 point :)
Exercise intense : 0 points (rest day)
Eat healthy snacks: 1 :)
Eat healthy meals: 1 point :)
No take out: 1 point :)

My husband is bewildered as to why I would start a diet at this time of year...but I am sticking to my guns and surprising myself with my willpower. He bough some lollies and chocolate macaroons at the supermarket today...how cruel...but I am not eating them!

We go to Sydney for a few days on the 13th of Jan, so it would be nice to lose a couple of kgs by then, I think that is around 5lb. May be wishful thinking after my nil loss so far!

You can do it!

Hi Lilly
Congrats on sticking with it!! My experience is that, even though sometimes it looks as if nothing is happening, there is actually quite a bit taking place as your body adjusts to the new eating habits and level of activity. The progress is not always linear, that's all.

Happy New Year! Have a great day

Suzy :hat:

lol, it can take a bit to get through to husbands sometimes :) looks like ya still doing well, there is suposed to be a cool change here today, I don't know it will be the same where you are in NZ. Enjoy your visit to Sydney.

I would love a cool change...it is cooking here today. Incredibly muggy, leaves you feeling quite suffocated. I am really looking forward to Sydney, it is only a few days, but any break is good!

I found this great calculator

It calculates the amount of calories burned according to time, your weight and activity...I always doubt the figures on my machine.

I am really proud of myself today, did 30 minutes of a vigorous workout on my bike...did a type of intensity training, so stayed for 3 min on each level, up to the hardest and then back down each level for 2. I really surprised myself in being able to do it. And the bonus is I burned 441cal...WOW!

I am sticking really well to my eating plan...and seem to be averaging about 1400 cals a day according to my fitday account. I am not totally sure that that is enough, and am a little concerned that I am cutting too many calories too soon, I do know that at 150lbs I could eat about 1650cals on average to maintain that weight, so perhaps I should be trying to get a few more calories in???

Last time I lost a lot of weight I did it by sticking to a ridiculous 1100cal a day diet and exercising twice a day hard out. Of course as soon as I came off this I gained the weight back again. I understand this now, and don't want to go down the same track again.

Day 8...

Well ended up eating 1800 cal today, all good food, so not too worried, still managed a 1100 calorie restriction which is above my goal of 850 to lose the weight by my goal date.

Personal Goal Summary:
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day: 1 point :)
Exercise intense : 2 points
Eat healthy snacks: 1
Eat healthy meals: 1 point
No take out: 1 point

Total so far: 33

Day 9 so far...

well yesterdays custom Hiit really inspired me into realising what I am capable of. I call it custom because basically I am doing on the machines what I used to do for hockey training...time at level 1, level 2 and so on...this way I end up working at a harder level for a lot longer (about half my workout) and when I get to the hardest level, then I start coming back down the levels...by the time I get to level 5, it feels so easy I'm almost sprinting...way to fool the mind!

I did this on the elliptical today, instead of the bike and it was great...I even did a minute backwards...way to work out the front of my thighs!

The only calculator I have bases elliptical on a general workout...so according to that I burned 350...however my workout definitely was not general, so it was probably more like 400.

Breakfast today was special K...I tend to have this most mornings as it is low calorie, nutritious and fills me up. I have already drank about 6 classes of water and one bottle, because of the heat and my workout.

I love fit day... it is great to be able to see the weeks summary of calories burned and calories eaten...I love averages:coolgleamA:

Anyway off for a swim...it is another really hot day here today!

Day 9

So today has been a great day, burned 350-400cal with hiit on my elliptical. Felt great! Was another hot day, and did feel some of the old temptations to grab a quick snack when I realised I had next to nothing in the fridge to prepare anything decent for lunch. However I got creative and managed to have a nutritious lunch. I went to the supermarket and stocked up on lots of yummy healthy stuff. The way I was feeling tonight it would have been typically I night that we would have take out...I just did not feel like cooking, hubby even suggested mcdonalds...however I forced myself to cook yummy chicken and salad burgers on mini pita bread and they were delicious!

Today was a really low calorie day for me....too low, but I won't let that happen too often. On fitday my goal is 1600cal with a restriction on 800cal a day to lose the weight slowly and steadily by my goal date of April 30th. However today I only ate 1246cal, but feel full, so its all good! That means my calorie restriction for today was 1563cal rather than 800cal.

I am really starting to get my head around this as a lifestyle change...last time I was really hard on myself in terms of the type of food I let myself eat, so as soon as I came off the diet, I binged and the weight came back. This time I am concious of my calories, but aware I can work items into my diet that give me pleasure...for instance I had a Dutch fruit bun after dinner tonight...only 150cal and totally yummy. I am however really concious of eating fruit or vegetables either at every meal, or regularly throughout the day.

Tomorrow is weigh in day again...if I have not lost anything yet, I am going to try really hard to not let it get me off track. Tomorrow is also my grandmothers 98th birthday, we are having breakfast at the local pub...I already have my yoghurt and cereal ordered in my head :)

Personal Goal Summary:
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day: 1 point :)
Exercise intense : 2 points :)
Eat healthy snacks: 1 :)
Eat healthy meals: 1 point :)
No take out: 1 point :)

Total so far:39...1 more to my initial target of 40! Yippee for a new item of clothing!

weigh day...

well, disappointed does not really cover it...I have not lost weight again...same as last week. I can not believe that I have not even lost a tiny amount. I have restricted daily between 1100 - 1500 calories, my total restriction over 5 days was 7700...which technically should have related to 2lbs of weight loss. I know it does not always work like that, but even a lb would have been great!

The reality is I am actually up 1kg on what I thought I was when I started...so now I have to change my ticker to 85kg and 15kg to lose.

I have been working my arse off, staying well within my calories, maintaining a healthy diet, being active during the day even on top of the exercise...and still no loss. Now it is that time of the month, so maybe that has something to do with it...??? All I know is that not losing any weight in 10 days feels quite crushing...but I am not going to let it get to me because I actually feel better, my skin looks better already, I am sleeping well, I 'feel' slightly thinner, I am much fitter even in a few days...so all positives, I guess the weight loss will come.

I was just hoping to have some weight loss in the first couple of weeks as I have a girls weekend coming up, a wedding where I am in the wedding party, and a trip to Sydney with my hubby...so sticking to exercise and eating well will be difficult during these times...I am intending to take my walking shoes away to the girls weekend and Sydney, and make good choices when eating out.

Being the school holidays here, this is my opportunity to kick my 'lifestyle' change off with a very positive start.

Oh well that's a week away....lots of time to lose just a little weight even???

Day 10

Well, I am still feeling very frustrated at not losing any weight in 10 days when I have worked my behind off, and been so good with my eating. This mood would have previously sent me off the rails with my eating, however I am determined to give this the best go I can possibly give it.

Had my grandmothers birthday breakfast this morning...no real healthy alternatives on the menu...so ended up have french toast and maple syrup...the result of this was I intentionally didn't eat again until dinner time...managed to eat about 1500 cal today.

Exercised on my bike again doing hiit...stayed on each level for 4 minutes this time, killed my legs up at level 7, but stuck to it...and then sprinted the last few minutes on level 4...total workout time was about 35min as I ended up doing some weights and crunches on my swiss ball after my 30min on the bike.

Personal Goal Summary:
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day: 1 point
Exercise intense : 2 points
Eat healthy snacks: 0 (did not snack today)
Eat healthy meals: 0 point (french toast and maple syrup not healthy in my opinion)
No take out: 1 point
4 points

Total 43...so have passed my target of 40....will keep on trucking!

Day 11 so far

Well I have heard so much about this 30 day shred that I decided to google it....found the first workout on youtube, and decided to replicate the workout in so form this morning. Of course I couldn't remember all the moves or the total sequence, but stuck to the whole cardio, strength, abs format...well I was absolutely shattered...jumping jacks killed me totally! I worked out for 30 min, but probably not at the intensity of the DVD. It was so great I am going to try and find the DVD to buy today...it may just be the key to kicking off this weightloss, if not it is a great alternative to the machines as they get boring. What I have realised is that last time I lost weights my workouts had the same format as the 30 day shred...I would sprint on my bike for 3-4 min, do abs, then weights, then skipping and repeat it all over again.

Day 11

Well I ate really well today, but still only came in at 1080cal...which I know is far too low...but hey I ate well, and am full, so a low cal day can't really hurt too much after the rich food I had yesterday. Am still sore from my circuit training this morning.

Personal Goal Summary:
drink at least 8 glasses of water a day: 1 point
Exercise intense : 2 points
Eat healthy snacks: 1
Eat healthy meals: 1 point
No take out: 1 point
6 points

Total 49

Hey girl! Glad to see you are still at it considering no weight loss... IT WILL COME MY FRIEND! Keep up the hard work! :D

Hey, thanks for stopping by my diary. I have to get to work now so I just quickly skimmed some of your diary. I'll read it more indepth later and put a proper post. Keep up the good work so far!

And I replied about the 30 day shred you asked me about in my own diary if you want to check it out :)

Day 12 begins...

Thanks for stopping by Risty and Paula, it certainly means a lot to have the support!

Well I exercised for 45min this morning...15 minute on my stepper with weights doing my arm lifts etc...15 min vigorous on my bike... and 15 min on my elliptical at a good clip. Burned 445cal...yay me!

Keeping track of things...

View attachment 8356

O.K so I have designed a little table to help me track how I am going in relation to exercise and calorie intake. My goal is to maintain a deficit of 900...it looks like I am over that most days...I need to get more exercise in I think. I have taken the table back to the 27th of December which is when I started tracking on fit day. Hopefully the table has attached if anyone wants to take a look.
