I think you were going to chat to your instructor about your knees previously. How did that go?
I decided not to talk to her because she mentioned in class not to do anything forced on injured body parts so YAY.
I remember going to a class and working on poses all relaxed and concentrating at the same time and suddenly without warning I farted!!! I am a "releaser" when I work out and yoga is no different. My friend has been wanting to try it so I might venture in again but I wish they would turn the music up or something;) lol. TMI I am sure but sharing is caring right;) lol
You are a woman after my own heart, Mish. LMAO Reminds me of Tyra Banks when she asked Janet Jackson if she farts. Oh my god, that was funny.

Thanks for the kind words NJ. I wouldn't have any of the direction I have, if it were not for the strong women I have as friends and mentors. You will be doing yoga and whatever else your heart desires in no time, judging by the progress in your diary. Woot!

Breakfast; 2 rye toast, 2 tbsp. peanut butter
Lunch; 2 bean and cheese burritos, 7 almonds
Supper; fish sticks, tartar sauce, 2 cups raw veggies

Ashtanga yoga

I've taken yesterday and today afternoon off as mental health afternoons and had naps and walked the dog. Man, that's living.

So does your body feel really sore the morning after ashtanga? I wonder if it is a bit like Pilates, except a lot more contorting your body. Anyways it sounds like your rest days are very relaxing, that's wonderful ;) Enjoy them! :)

It's awesome you're doing yoga! I think yoga is so hard at first because of the lack of balance and/or flexibility! lol After some practice you'll be just as good as everyone else!

Hey Ana, I love the new avatar. I'm just getting caught up on diaries today and its good to see your yoga is going so well.

Oh oh oh, ooo ooo ooo, every day a different place hurts ... to the point I phoned a massage therapist yesterday, but they didn't have an opening. So I went to a class and it fixed my sore shoulder, but now other parts hurt. lol Yah, every day it seems a different part, either a shoulder or shoulder blade, or my gut, often my hips and outside of my thighs. The better I get at some of these poses, the more I'll feel it in other places, like maybe my butt... LOL Hey, my son just sent me a link to a 19 year old singer, Paolo Nutini, from Scotland, fantastic, check it out at

Hi Risty, how nice to see you. Today I didn't go to yoga because it makes me extremely tired. Came home and had a 3 hour nap from 5-8 pm. I've noticed the last 3 days I want to eat all my calories before noon! Today I ate 2000 calories by 3:00 pm. So I didn't have supper. I'm incredibly bored in my cubicle at work. Summer outside, me working on a policy manual...not a good combination.

Breakfast; medium apple, 2 raisin toast with margarine
Lunch; 2 burritos
Snack; 2 bags of chips = 500 calories & 3 chocolate bars = 670 hello!
So ... low on veggies and protein and ... high on crapola. Total caloric intake for the day was 2155 so chalk it up to a maintenance day...for my height and weight, I do not need more than 2100/day.

Took Rufus for a walk tonight. Tomorrow I really need a game plan for dealing with the munchies and BORDOM...it's a killer. One of my problems was I ate those damn burritos this week and 2 of them equals 600 calories. That's more than I usually eat at lunch. It's better for me to eat 3-500 at lunch and have an afternoon snack, spread the cals out sorta-thing. So tomorrow I'll have one burrito and some veggies, and a granola bar, and some pumpkin seeds with a snack in the afternoon and go for a walk or climb stairs at 2:30 pm to kill the boredom.

Cannon!!! I must have cross-posted because I missed your post when I did my daily entry. It's great to have you back from holidays. Thanks for popping by, I know how crazy it is trying to catch up. I look forward to hearing all about your holiday...will pop over to your diary!

I thought some of you might find this link interesting:

I get their newsletter via email and they've got great info.

I love Paolo Nutini! How cool that you like him as well! You just have good taste Miss Skinny...I hear ya on the snacks, yesterday I ate like 1000 calories by 10 am. I intend to do much better today, I hope you do as well. If you figure out how to handle it, let me know. I know that soreness doesn't = effectiveness, but I feel like it's a good thing when I wake up and my body is sore. keep it up Anna, have a nice day today.

I agree Sara, soreness is usually a good thing to me also. I love that feeling.
Today's yoga class was very tiring...I got cramps in my toes, calves and feet, and it seemed I couldn't get my body into it. The instructor seemed to be picking on me and I was just plain cranky. I was glad to get the hell out of there, but I'll be back for more punishment tomorrow night. tee hee

Breakfast; Bran flakes, milk, medium apple
Lunch; one burrito, 2 cups cucumber with baby carrots
Snack; 1 oz. pumpkin seeds, 1 oz. cheddar cheese
Supper; chicken breast burrito with green & red pepper, 2 tbsp. sour cream, 2tbsp salsa.
Dessert; freezie pop

75 minutes of Ashtanga an drank my water.

Howdy Anna,

I love your lil freezie pops lol! Keep having gr8 days like today
Tammy

Hey Anna I read about your possible trip to meet a widower and had to smile to myself. Have fun! Did you write about it in your diary? I looked but not too hard, gonna look again. That was funny, in Blancita's diary I think.

Hi Kelly; Glad my post made you smile...it was meant to be funny. I go on that dating site for entertainment value more than anything, have yet to meet anyone from the site and doubt I will, because it's a bit too contrived for me. I decided against going because he was sending me copious amounts of lovey dovey emails today. Come on buddy, be real. You haven't even met me! I could be this total shrew with a wart on my butt, for all he knows. LOL I sent him an email and very nicely thanked him for his generousity but told him we're in different places. You like that one, huh? We're in different places. Geez, anyways. lol

Uhm, you don't have a wart on your butt do you? I mean I know you're not a total shrew, but I just had to ask. can you get a wart on your butt from sitting on a frog? Hmm, I guess I'm off to wikipedia to research this.

lol don't think too hard Cannon! I'll never tell.

Breakfast; Oatmeal porridge, medium apple
Lunch; one burrito, 2 cups raw veggies
Snack; 1 oz. pumpkin seeds, 1 oz. cheddar cheese
Supper; bowl of Muslex cereal, 1 cup milk, 1 oz. hungarian salami
Dessert; freezie pop

75 minutes Moksha yoga; a little easier than Ashtanga because not as many push-ups (Vinyasas) but lots of poses I struggled with. Patience, patience.

warts on butts can be very attractive on the right butt :)

and some men are definitely turned on by the shrew factor :) they must be - its the only way to explain an awful lot of marriages out there...

that was a foreign language you were speakig in the last paragraph :)

Great job on your food and yoga Anna. Pushups in yoga? I didn't realize. I tried to do a pushup on my kitchen floor last night, lol it was pathetic.

Just got caught up on your diary...I love your new avatar - you're always smiling like you've just been told the funniest joke! I almost never smile in photos 'cause I was scarred for life by an uncle who told me to stop "grinning like an idiot" in a family photo when I was eight (oh, the childhood trauma LOL)....glad to see you are still ethusiastic about the yoga and LMAO at your recent dating site conquest...if he's this "in love" without even meeting you, can you imagine after one date? what would he do...propose? Creepy scary...

yah, no kidding, I'm learning a whole new language. I even chant Ooooommm at the end of the class. If I decide to become a Hare Krishna bald-headed freak with a tamborine, I'll give you plenty warning though

Yah, there's different types of yoga and this one's hardcore, but not as hard as Bikram...can't wait to try that. Nothing has made me feel as OUT OF SHAPE as yoga. It's testing my patience but I'm stubborn.

Awww, one comment to a child can have such an indelible effect. You probably have a beautiful smile (((Cym))).
My avatar is a pic of me leaning on my big brother's shoulder...relaxed with the big guy.
Yah, I'll bet that wedding in New York the dating-site-guy was inviting me to, was my own! Um, why is this a one way ticket, aren't you flying me back? tee hee
