Lili's Diary

Hey Lili, welcome back. Looks like all the 'old-timers' are staggering back in here about the same time :blush5:

Well, all I can say is, let's do this.

We doing this the kind and gentle way or the asskickin' 'I've had enough' way ??

Sure is nice to see you again :)

T2 Super Man !

Hi T2; it's great to see you again too. I noticed you on the front page of the diary forum and thought YAY T2 is here still (or back also?).

Kind and gentle for me. lol the ass-kickin' I've had enough method has been tried many times and I always get burned out. Although who knows, sometimes the exercise bug bites me. tee hee

I've discovered iTunes (my sons have been using it forever) and I'm loving listening to tunes while cruising WLF again.

Looking forward to reading your diary T2 and thanks for welcoming me back Luv.

Not much reading in that diary that's fresh. I walked away for a spell mydamnself.

heh, I'm using Pandora tonight. I use iTunes pretty much for storage for my iPod and I like the radio station Electric Blues Radio tho it repeats itself every 3 hours :(

meh girl, I'm fixing to just get steady for the winter and get back in here to keep myself in mindset mode.

Funny, I was reading Mal's diary and I had forgotten how good she writes. Talk about shot thru the heart. Whew. Anyway, you mirrored my thoughts in her diary.

No disappearing this time, Ya hear me ?? :p

Hello!!!! It's been so long!! Things have certainly changed in my life (you might have read :D) Welcome back:) ITunes is great but T2 is right about pandora.com. It's a nice way to have music that you might not have on your ITunes and it creates new playlists everyday. It's free too!
It's hard not to go gung ho with exercise and diet. Especially reading around here because it's so motivating!! I have issues with burning out too and am working slowly... pregnant or not. So good luck to you and welcome back! I look forward to posts!!! Yay!!

Thanks Mishi. it's good to be back. I'm going to give pandora.com a try.

Talk to us, Lili. What's on that mind of yours ?? eh ??

Hi T2. nothing much on my mind on a Friday night except I ate on plan today:

Breakfast; oatmeal porridge, one grapefruit and 10 almonds
Lunch: Pita Sandwich
Supper; tomato soup and 2 omega bread toasted with cheddar cheese in the oven.
Total 1500 calories

Hope you had a good day today also :seeya:

I decided to cut and paste out of Mal's sticky at the top of our diaries, in order to do this right. I've been gone for a year and it's important for me to do this so here goes:

-- How much weight do you want to lose? 20 pounds

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? Mini goal of 10 pounds by Christmas December 25th and another 10 pounds by Valentine's Day February 14th

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Calorie reduction 1200-1500/day and walking the dog and getting back to the gym for elliptical trainer/jogging, sit-ups, core strength, free weights

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My dog, this forum, my sons who are both gym rats, and the fact that sugar causes me chronic fatigue and depression

-- How realistic is your goal? 2 pounds per week with a couple 'grace' weeks thrown in for the holidays seems healthy and do-able

-- When will you start? Monday November 10

What is your current height and weight? 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing 159 pounds

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 135 but that's model weight and I would be quite happy at 140

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 135

Why do you want to lose weight? Vanity and motivation for sugar reduction

Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? No

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? television and eating out - it's the only time I overeat or eat bad food. Boredom, I need to start writing again

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? I'm in my healthy range re: BMI but my sugar addiction is a habit I've developed over several years

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Get rid of cable television, join some weekly and weekend activities and begin writing, go to the gym regularly, continue to get out there lots for dog walks

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? I've lost 40 pounds once, and 15, 10, 5 pounds several times over the course of my adult life. Bob Greene's Total Body Makeover is very useful to me, as was running marathons in the past, and going to the gym by my work is good too. Sadly, smoking has also worked but I only smoke on vacation now. Grocery shopping on outside aisles only (produce, dairy, meat, whole grains)

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I struggle with the eating in front of the telly and eating out for supper

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Wanting more comfort food and Getting too hard into workouts because that causes me more stress and I already have a stressful job/life

Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? I will do it

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? All our meals are complex carb/protein and fat balanced with at least 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of veggies each day. We eat a lot of fish, chicken, all our bread & pasta is whole grain, we have charts up on the fridge stating healthiest foods, I use a food scale etc.

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Too dang often. Prolly 2 times/week. We'll go to Pita Pit, Montana's or Dairy Queen for a flame-broiled burger, or Chinese

What are your three favorite foods? 1)breakfast foods; eggs, toast, peanut butter, bacon, hashbrowns, pancakes, 2) pasta with Italian sausage and tomato sauce and 3) sugary junk food; slurpees, chips, chocolate bars :(

What are your three favorite restaurants? Fancy local restaurants

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Stay away from the t.v., stop eating out, no food after 6 pm

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? legs, butt, hips, waist, belly, arms all would be slimmer, face more chiselled

Do you eat when you are not hungry? yes

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? yes

Do you hide your food or eat in secret? no

Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? yes

Do you eat as a reward? yes

Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? t.v.

What do you normally eat for a meal? Suppers are complex carb/protein/fat, usually comprised of potato or whole grain rice or pasta, fish, chicken or beef, and veggies, lunch are veggies and a sandwich or soup, breakfast is oatmeal or whole grain toast with peanut butter and fruit and nuts

What type of snacks do you eat? Evil snacks like chocolate bars when I don't give a damn and good snacks like veggies or yogurt when I do

In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? walking the dog for 3 miles

Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? Neigborhood, park or grid road with the dog, gym right by my work or home for free weights & sit-ups

What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? jogging, elliptical trainer, free weights

What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? I'm nearing 50 and all my friends in their 50s say it is much harder to lose weight in that decade so I'm motivated to take it off now. Weekly motivation is my 2 pound/week goal, and daily motivation is taking care of myself, mentally

Do you have rewards for certain goals? Clothing, clothing and more clothing. LOL

Hi Lilli

Thanks for stopping by my place....5'9" and 140 pounds doesnt sound too skinny to me, it sounds like someone who could be on America's Next Top Model :)....(strike a pose.....vogue)

I want to be 130...i am only 5'2..(or really 5' 1 and 3/4)...that may still be a little squishy for a girl my height but i will cross that bridge when i get to it....WHEN not IF..when...

I havent been on this journey very long, so I am going to give you the only advice I have gained...."do not eat anything that says "FIBER" in the title..ie: Yoplait yogurt with FIBER or kashi go lean cookies with FIBER"...especially on dates, or in crowded rooms....they will make you a little rumbly in the tumbly........

Have a great one!!!
Kare

Ate on plan
Breakfast; 2 omega bread slices toasted one with peanut butter the other with a boiled egg, 1 cup each of canteloupe and green grapes
Lunch; Tuna and mayo on 5 melba toasts, 2 cups arugula lettuce and 2 medium carrots
Supper; 1 cup whole grain brown rice with barley and 1 cup cooked corn
1300 calories

Thanks for stopping by Kare. I love the advice! I'll watch out for those Go Lean kashi cookies. lol

Well, Well It's so damn exciting to see you back, I've missed you! And funny I was just thinking about you a week ago, and then wella I log in and there you are! WOOOOHH It was weird to say the least, but a most happy moment.

I see your still looking slim, in the 140's for your height is not big at all, I would love to be 140 right now at 5.6 that's my goal at this point. What is that Bob Greene video like?? What motivates you when you watch it?? I would love to start running marathons but I'm not sure if I'll actually get to that point or not, I've ran into so many road blocks lately, I've stepped back a lot on my work outs the past few months, if I ran I would need to hike it back up again, maybe I will, we will have to see.

I'm so, so happy your back and I thrilled we have eachother again for support. I will check back by soon. OH are you still WRITING?????
Kim

Ani diFranco tunes after a hard day's work

Dear Diary;

today I ate;
Breakfast: oatmeal porridge, 1 orange, 1 apple, 10 almonds
Lunch: 2 cups butternut squash soup, 1 oz. walnuts, 2 caramel rice crackers
Supper: 3/4 of a chicken quesadilla
1350 calories

Having trouble getting out or to the gym for exercise and it's GO day on my weight loss goal. Being cold outside is no an excuse to not go the gym or walk the dog. I am a weather suck. It's going to zero and even below. Wah wah waaaaahhh, oh shut the hell up. LOL

KIM you whole lotta beautiful YOU. Thanks for stopping by, that makes my day! Marathons are a thing of my past and I haven't had aspirations for them for a few years. I don't have a Bob Greene video but I own every single one of his books. Healthy weight loss/maintenance with nutrition/exercise the focus, but he also provides a nice body workout which is perfect for me. There are so many but everyone kind of finds out what they like, you know? He's Oprah's trainer which boosted him to further stardom.

On the writing front, I plan to finish a few short stories and a screenplay will be switched to a novel. I may do some more work on another novel ... blah blah blah, we all have our hobbies we pick up and drop like favorite scarves.

Don't worry about dropping workouts over the past few months...we all do that. As long as we keep it in our minds that exercise is important, it may take different forms over the years. Wish you and I lived in the same city because we would go to that gym together, GIRLFRIEND. Maybe we can support one another to the gym through this site! So glad you're here...

Have a nice night everyone.

Was happy to see you back tonight and getting back on track. I'm having trouble being consistent with my eating and counting calories and all that. Just basically happy to have gotten over my fear of the gym. I am not so sure I'll lose weight but I have lost a few inches so I"m going for that. Will write more another time. Welcome back.

ooh good to see your still writing, that's an excellent outlet you know. Good on the brain power to, got to keep that brain stimulated. LOL LOL I went to the library the other day and picked up a few good books, I hope to get started on reading at least two books a month, I stopped reading years back and now I'm craving it again, weird how we do that, maybe it's age I don't know.

YES, let's help each other stay motivated and accountable for our workouts. I'm stuck at home with out my car today, so I'm working out here, I'm going to blast the stereo in about an hour and get busy. Good thing I live in the country I like it LOUD when I'm working out, keeps me going. But I do wish you were closer as well, My friends which are very wonderful people, seem to fizzle out on me when it comes time to go to the gym, I'm very committed when I have someone to go with, even though all of last year I went by myself every other day, I just got addicted to it and the classes, I couldn't wait and I could care less if my girlfriend went or not, I was going. I don't know what happened to that motivation it kind of took a halt for about two months now it's time to get it back, and I'm ready I have to be!!

Well, I'll pop back by later to see how your day went. Take Care
Hugs and love
Kim

Good morning!!!
Having support at the gym is nice and having someone to go with is wonderful. Is there a way you could find people who want a workout partner? maybe post something up at your gym? Might be a nice way to meet people.
lol or you can just think of my pregnant butt running in the morning and figure you have not excuses;) he he he
I hope you have a wonderful day today!!

Hi Lili!

Sugar is an absolute KILLER. I struggled with it very seriously for months--past several months I been in the 22.9-22.1 BMI range and been pretty happy about it, since my body tends to "like" being at 23.5-ish when I'm letting sugar and ALCOHOL get out of control. This summer I been trying to grab a high protein snack when I crave sugar--it works pretty well! Nuts, soy treats, raw cheese and rice crackers.....that's what I try to grab as snacks when veggies and fruit don't cut it for me.

I'm at the Vanity Pound Struggle as well--really difficult it seems, especially when one has healthy eating pretty much down, and it's a matter of getting used to eating less calories as maintenance (not to mention racking up deficits). Congrats for re-joining!

Whoo hoo, busy on the boards tonite. Thanks for stopping by Curvie, and thanks for reading my long winded blurb in answer to all those questions! Vanity pound struggle, love it.

Ate on plan;
Breakfast; 2 cups raisin bran, 1 cup skim milk, 1 apple
Lunch; 2 cups spinach, .5 red pepper, 2 radishes, 2 oz. cheese, 2 Silhouette yogurts, 2 melba toasts
Supper; 4 oz. broiled chicken breast and one cup corn
1315 calories

Walked with a friend 6 miles on a hilly trail in the woods. Really gorgeous walk.

dang you did great today...two thumbs up!!!

I am losing focus the last two days....i shouldaneva bought those golldamnblasted pita chips.....evil evil evil (nice how i like to blame it on the chips and not actually the fact that I couldnt control my hand to mouth movements.....)

hope your wednesday is even better!

Goal for today ...

After reading some very inspiring diaries (Reluctant Cabbie, JZthedetermined, Wishes), I've decided today I'm going to get in touch with my inner Fatty, to borrow a phrase from you Karebare (take off from inner Perv). This means I will get on the elliptical trainer after work or jog with puppy outside. I will check in later to share whether Fatty makes it or not. If ... and I mean if, I get my inner Fatty to the gym, I will also partake in sit-ups, core strength exercises and free weights. Stay tuned ...
