No comment on this topic, but I am getting a kick out of reading it.

feeling a bit sorry for myself this arvo, burned my hand getting a rolled roast (pork) out of the air fryer at lunch time. on the up side the pork was tender and juicy. Leftover make for great cold meat for snacks if it survives my son getting home from work shortly.

It is a good thing I have a well equipped first aid kit lol

hand is sore, but quick first aid has minimised the damage, and should heal quickly.

burn blisters have started to burst, but no longer painful

25th wedding anniversary today

will be back to post on other threads after taking little miss into town to get a couple of thing from the shops and to get a chuckle over the idiots panic buying TP

Happy 25th wedding anniversary, Tru!
It is crazy what is happening in our shops. Bonkers!

Cheers for your 25th wedding anniversary - a quarter-century is a lovely, major chunk of time! Happy celebrating!

(and speedy healing to the burst blisters.)

Ha! Not in South Australian shops, I am reliably informed! At least, not the toilet paper nonsense. (I hear some ratbags are buying it to flog on ebay - I sincerely hope they go bust.)

I discovered today that it is not just ladies clothing that is make with fake or sewn closed pockets.

I purchased some mens camo cargo trousers for uni, and the pockets near the knees had the flap sewn closed grrr. I need to unpick them so I can use the pockets for compass, map and small field guide.

I am not going to crawl around for hours in the wetlands wearing the flimsy stuff marketed towards ladies on Monday lol but I should be able to get some interesting photographs for the "What I saw on my walk thread"

Apparently if trousers HAVE pockets but they´re sewn shut (women´s clothing often doesn´t have them at all) it´s so they look better hanging in the stores (staying flat and all that). Which I find ludicrous but is better than not having real pockets at all.

this isn't light stitching holding them closed, they certainly look like it was not designed to be unpicked, could not find the little unpicking tool in the house, I am going to have to go digging through my sewing box in the shed, whatever the reason, these pockets will become functional lol

That´s so weird! Why go to the trouble of adding real pockets if you´re then sewing them shut? Fashion folks be weird.

Shoulder rehab and rebuilding strength is a long slow progression, finally back over 60 kg on bench for paused sets of 5 with no shoulder discomfort.

5 graduated warmup sets then 4 paused sets of 5 at 61 kg (134 lb) Will do speed work and accessories for bench on Sunday to start rebuilding power. Power training is light but with max effort explosiveness in lots of short sets and 40 second rest periods, it can put a lot of strain on weak joints.

Hey Tru, any updates on the fires? Or has coronavirus taken over?

Fires are all out, hubby has a controlled burn to go to later today, in prep for next fire season. Queensland is sub-tropical so we are in Cyclone season now, with lots of reminder adverts on TV about being prepared. We live on a protected hill (no flooding) and we build out home to cyclone specifications so not too concerned if we ever get a close one. Having a kit in case of cyclone is much the same as being prepared for isolation in case of the virus, except the virus is not likely to take out the electricity for days.

as for the virus here

There are only 14 cases in Queensland still with no community transmission, just people who have caught it elsewhere and are in isolation, I think there is even less or no cases in Tas where cate is. But people are idiots, the panic buying of toilet paper is insane. Outside of the major cities population is sparce so it is relatively easy to not be in close proximity to others, Uni is about my only concern for catching it when it does become widespread. They tell people to isolate for 2 weeks, most people around here do most of their shopping every two weeks anyway, so it does not take much to be prepared for isolation if you get the virus, no need for huge stockpiles or panic.

Glad your shoulder is getting a bit better, Tru.
There is only one confirmed case in Tasmania and that man had just returned from Iran. He went in for testing and then decided to shop at Woolworths in Launceston before putting himself into quarantine! Not a smart cookie obviously.

Not a smart cookie obviously.

no shortage of those around at the moment,

Ordered a Biltong Box yesterday, should arrive next week. Biltong is expensive to buy so the drying box should pay for itself quite quickly, still need to buy a mortar and pestle for grinding the spices after roasting them.

I also want to have a good quantity made before the 2 day sea kayak/ hiking trip for Uni, being light with great nutrition, and If I vacuum seal it before the trip, the rain (Sub-tropical wet season / cyclone season) or a dunking in the ocean won't destroy my food for the trip. Being a world heritage area, everything must be carried in and back out, so keeping my gear light and compact is important.
