Lift, Train, Fitness

Textbook arrived in the mail for my psychology unit, lots of reading ahead of me. Textbooks are bloody expensive, I try to buy 2nd hand when I can, but this one I had to buy new $125 with the %20 discount I had. oh well lots of reading to be done now before tute in Wednesday.

That's very expensive , Tru. Your course is very intense & broad ranging.

The psychology unit is an elective, I think a basic understanding is good to have when it comes to training a variety of people and knowing how to achieve their goals. I think like an athlete so at times I need to be able to think like somebody who may not be as motivated by exercise as I am. Compliance to an exercise prescription is hindered if the right motivation is not used.

Survived being back at uni yesterday,

I will have 5 field trips for one subject

Botany (learning plant IDs and spending time drawing them in a journal), Canoe and Kayak training, Navigation workshop, Full day mountain hike, 2 day Fraser Island trip (sea kayak up the coast then hike back). Every field trip has to be logged in a journal. on the surface this looks like a simple subject, in reality it is a very complex subject with a lot to learn, especially about learning to lead large groups of people in what could be stressful conditions.

It is cyclone season now, and if there is severe weather the lecturer sees coping in that environment during extreme weather to be a great learning experience because for those who choose to be adventure leaders, it is important to learn how to keep your groups safe regardless of what the weather throws at you.

Survived my psychology class, and the ice breaker activities we had to do were not as bad as I feared. assessments involve 5 quizzes and a digital poster analyzing a public figure of our choice, I need to decide on who, early, as the poster is 50% of the marks.

That all sounds wonderful - strenuous, and as you say much more complex and demanding than would appear on the surface, but wonderful nonetheless!

Yes, the weather and even more troublesome (sometimes) the group participants! Hence the emphasis on psychology, I guess. Really, really great that leaders are getting this training - go, you!

What a great course you're doing, Tru. You are already very qualified I know, but after this you will be incredibly well qualified!

Just finished sorting out the signup dates for my field trips, I have to go and buy some swimmers URGGG, will probably just go with boardies and a rashie.

do you "southerners" ever feel cheated? your February is our August ... two or three days more summer up here ... :)

I cannot wait till summer is over, however in reality it feels like summer year round here in sub tropical Queensland. @Cate lives in my preferred climate.

The wet season (cyclone season) normally runs through to the end of April but it was a late start this season. There is really only 2 season here, the wet and the dry.

I wear t-shirts and shorts year round unless I need to walk through scrub and need to protect myself from snake and insect bites. which reminds me, I need to get more cold spray for my first aid kit to kill ticks.

At the moment it is 33 degrees with 85% humidity, I have the AC on just to pull some of the humidity out of the air while I try to study.

As much as I enjoy exercise, I hate swimming.

I hate high humidity! Though it's good for the complexion - people in dry climates get wrinklier than people in humid climates, overall.

I also need to get myself some new swimmers - swimming itself is great, but I do feel shy about being seen just in bathers, and I really don't like being on hot sand. Mind you, what I call "swimming" the rest of the world probably calls "just mucking about in the water, having fun". Ploughing up and down a swimming pool is very good exercise, but not what I like to do at all. (And they cost!)

Swimming turns me into a black hole for food. Board shorts and a rash guard sound good and sensible to me.

feeling a bit off today, cough, feel like I am fighting a minor cold, bub definitely has some king of bug, congested breathing etc. taking it easy today and probably tomorrow.

Worked on squat this morning, nothing heavy but did video to check for problems, depth was good but I need to get my elbows under the bar more, so still a lot more rehab and mobility work to do on my shoulders. Weight was only a warm-up weight so any other serious floors won't show up at this stage but was not willing to push hard today after not being well on the weekend. shared the vid on facebook as I am not sure that the forum is the right place for it. Lift video was RAW, no belt, sleeves, wraps or suits. I need smaller tits, vid shows how much they were hitting my knees at the bottom of the squat :rotflmao:
