Lift, Train, Fitness

Hopefully you can find another parent to help. Chef loved coaching baseball last summer, but oh my gosh, there were a lot of frustrating moments. I know, because I got to hear aaaall about them. haha!

Hi Tru. Just read one of your posts elsewhere & clicked on the link to your diary in your sig & it doesn't work. Cheers, Cate.

It has been another quiet week here but today I have to get a rego inspection on sons car to change it over to QLD plates, also tonight there is two pre season friendlies for football, son in one game hubby in the other playing for different clubs. hoping for no injuries tonight but I will have to go prepared just in case, so treatment table, first aid kit (although mine resembles a paramedics kit rather than the average first aid kit lol) lots of strapping tape and an esky full of ice, not for the beer. I am also coaching at the gym this arvo.

I also need to start doing some prep work for coaching the littlies, looks like I have been allocated the under 7s team.

we are taking bets within the family as how many ambo's will need to be called on the official first game day of the season lol, I am tipping that I will need to call in 2, son thinks it will 3 and 1 tonight.

everybody in the family kept away from me last night, I tend to yell at the TV when the Rugby League is on, and the opening game for the season involved the MIGHTY EELS

son thinks one, I am hoping for none but with 4 teams of bloke who haven't done anything physical all off season go at each other hard (no such thing as friendly in a friendly game lol) there is likely to be some injuries, I just hope they are not bad ones.

I have only just been able to get hubby back fully able to walk properly after training on Tuesday, because he doesn't know how to take it easy and feels like he needs to prove he can keep up with the young blokes and he is not the only one like that in the teams playing tonight.

Just been reading about Sharapova and her positive drug test, as a coach and elite level athlete with a full understanding of the rules I have no sympathy at all. As an athlete you are fully responsible for any substance entering your body, elite athletes are expected to keep up to date with changes to the banned list, Sharapova was notified that there were changes for this year prior to the ban being implemented and ignored that notification, if the drug was genuinely for therapeutic use she would have had time to get a TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) through the proper medical procedure, which would allow the continued use of the drug legally, that she did not follow this procedure makes her look very guilty of using it for performance enhancement.

the excuse that it was listed under a different name is no excuse at all, most banned substances have a lot of different names with only one being listed, there are hotlines available for athletes to ask specifically about drugs the may need to take, and her medical staff for such a well known athlete certainly would have known.

Should she have titles stripped, no I don't think so, after all, the drug was not banned when she won her titles.

as for me, I have football coaching tomorrow, will meet my team and have our first training session for the season. Eating has been on track as usual but my own training has been minimal as my shoulder needed recovery time, starting to feel ok again so probably back to training again next week.

found a workaround for the invisible posts, but not a lot of point in posting is as nobody will be able to read it lol but I have let admin know that there is a problem and I am sure he will have it fixed asap. As a mod all I can do that normal members cannot is to get rid of the spam and do a bit of thread maintenance etc. problems like this a beyond what I can help with.

ps it is a big help if members report spam rather than replying to it.

now for something on topic lol

food so far today - good
Exercise - nil so far but coaching this afternoon will be rather energetic

made it through this afternoon's training session, more mental than physical coaching under 7 year olds lol but satisfying when they have fun especially the shy ones and those with special needs who have difficulty fitting in normally. followed by a few repairs to a couple of players on the mens team (strapping), it is amazing what can be acieved with a bit of tape and knowledge of anatomy.

I am on duty for Sports Medicine on Saturday for the first of 2 weekends of trial matches before the season moves into full swing. I already have several players that will need work pre game just so they are functional enough to play.

so as usual winter means no weekends to myself while the season is on, if I am not coaching football I am patching up injured players or at a powerlifting meet or simply coaching at the gym. I am usually too busy to eat badly lol

Body is feeling ok this morning, so should be ok to do my own training this morning rather than coaching somebody else's lol

I wish I didn't have this shoulder problem but there is little anybody can do about it, and it just means that at random times the pain is excruciating and I just have to take time off while the calcium deposits which are floating around in my tendons move to a more comfortable position or dissolve and reform in a less painful spot in the shoulder.

this sort of problem tends to occur if you have had anything torn in the shoulder in the past, so that as you get older bone forms where it shouldn't. my original shoulder injury dates back to when I took a big hit in Rugby Union and tore my shoulder out of place. When the deposits are in an ok location my strength is as good as ever and I start to look to compete again, but then it moves and I will be in pain for weeks making me realise that my body just won't handle elite competition any more, unfortunately for me there is no local type competition for lifting to get my fix on stage and despite the injury I still have elite levels of strength, so much so that I am not even allowed to set gym records (big whiteboard on the gym wall) because it would be to "De-motivating" for other ladies.

No it is still bloody hot, it was 32 degrees (89.6 for those who use Fahrenheit) at football training in the afternoon yesterday. I tend to sleep on top of the covers until almost mid winter. As somebody who does not feel the cold, a sub-tropical climate means T-Shirt and Shorts all year round, others in town may disagree but seeing some people wearing clothes that look like they are going on an Arctic expedition and the temp has not dropped below a mid winter temp of 5 degrees is just hilarious.

I had a light training session this morning, nothing special or worth writing here in detail other than it was done. This evening was coaching sons Bench Press, he completed a new 3 rep PB of 77.5 kg (171 lb) at a bodyweight of 54 kg (119 lb), so prep for comp on the 27th is nicely on target.

long range weather forecast is for summer temps for at least another month :(

woke up this morning feeling crook as a dog, need sleep but it way to early and my brain just won't shut down, time go gargle again and try and be well for work tomorrow.

still feeling crap, called in sick for today, nothing worse than someone in healthcare passing on the flu to everybody they treat.

can't talk (throat), everything aches, vertigo when I stand up, chest massively congested, definitely not going anywhere today.

starting to feel a little better, it is now 2 week left of coaching my son for his next comp, last night he hit 80kg for a tripple on bench press at 54 kg bodyweight.
Apart from the little bit of coaching all I have been able to do while sick was computer work lol, I am sooooooo sick of social media marketing lol. I am not a natural match for social media and find it very draining. I also made the silly decision to enter a blog challenge to make 30 posts in 30 days. so far so go I have been able to keep the quality up and it is forcing me to think, and do rather than procrastinate, but I would still rather be out active. Tomorrow is football, so at least i will be outside, even if coaching the little ones is not very strenuous.

still not well, but I did have a spike in my daily visitor numbers for my lifting blog, so I must me doing something right while I been sick and putting a ton of work into it lol
