Lift, Train, Fitness

I have been considering my options for keeping my mind occupied while restricted to bed rest. One of my options is to take up fabric painting again with hobbytex, to paint designs on linen for the expected arrival, it will be a little expensive to get all the paints again but I am not bad at drawing and sketching and my other hobby of painting 25 mm scale miniatures is also a little expensive when you consider the hundred or so different shades of paint I have lol and the dragon I just finished painting cost a fair bit but it does look impressive waiting for its debut on the gaming table. I will have to take a photo and post it up.

Oh it's been a while since I visited your diary but you was ill when I last visited and from what I read you are expecting potentially a baby boy?! Congratulations!!

I am really surprised how committed and determined you are even with all these blockers you just get back up and continue from where you left off. It is truly inspiring; I wish I had your mindset and I hope when exercising becomes easier for me it won't feel as much of a chore. However I do at the moment enjoy my time at the gym - it feels quite therapeutic after being sat on my bum all day developing applications.

As I have said before, you only fail if you give up, I have survived raising 3 Autistic sons to adulthood so I can survive anything lol

good news this afternoon, the bank has approved an extension on our mortgage to renovate the nursery and bathroom :D

As an experienced and highly qualified member here it give me the shits to be told by another member that I am reckless, putting the forum at risk and should "retract my advice" in a forum thread, despite only ever offering advice within scope of practice and backed up by supporting reputable links. It should be funny but having your qualifications and experience defamed is not a laughing matter. As a Moderator, I am usually easy going and will never use mod powers just to get rid of stuff I don't like, after all there is often bad advice given by new members but I instead educate and back it up with verifiable facts when I have time. I also prefer not to get into much debate when it comes to different diets as most diets will work and the same approach does not work for everybody, only saying something if there is outright dangerous or false info given, again this is backed up with appropriate evidence. My qualifications and experience are primarily in the scope of exercise and sports medicine, I am the first person an athlete (young or old) sees for injury prevention, fitness, acute injuries and often weight loss or muscle gain advice. For serious problems which I have referred on to appropriate specialist I will often be writing, supervising and implementing rehab programs when those same athletes are well enough to begin the process of returning to full activity. It always makes me chuckle a bit when I see my doctor after an injury of myself or a family member and he will say "you know how to treat this better than I do". Doctors are specialists in illness and disease, for injuries and diet they will refer patients to the people specialised in those areas whether that is a surgeon, physiotherapist, exercise professional, dietitian, sports trainer etc.

I feel more restrained in what I say to others as a Mod compared to when I was just a normal member.

On the up side I am very happy that an elderly lady (late 60s) I have been assisting has registered for her first competition, taking up the sport for good health and to meet others her age. Age is no barrier to taking up and learning new things and meeting new people.

Getting people - especially older people - to take up a new sport long-term is awesome. You plant the seed, look after it for a while and then to watch it grow and thrive is awesome :)

Sorry to hear your efforts to help people get frustrated here :( I think we´re very lucky to have you on board.

I had a bit of a look to see what it was about but couldn't find it. I just can't imagine anyone querying your knowledge & qualifications Tru. That is SO wrong. I think you are the voice of reason & I know how lucky we are to have you in here.
I would happily come to you for strength training. I would feel very confident that you would not have me doing anything that would put my body at risk.
Your late 60's is elderly had me smiling though. I told my grandson after he upset a supervisor by calling her elderly(she's 60) that saying the word "older" is much safer than elderly or old. :D
Ignore the ignorant Tru. We value you!

I had my scan today, All ok, every measurement was normal placenta is high up so no chance of previa which avoids all sorts of complications later on, will post a pic after I scan it into the computer :D

@cate the thread is diet Vs exercise in the newcomers section, I am over it now, no matter what else is said I will not get into a pointless argument

Everything is still going ok, Doc has me monitoring blood pressure at home all this week but readings have all been good. Been working on the nursery which we have finished painting, new carpet gets laid next week.

Went Bra shopping today, shopping is awful at the best of times, bra shopping is way worse, my tits have gone from DD to an F cup size would have been a G cup if they had the right band size in stock, oh well with the bigger band size there is room for them to grow a bit more in late pregnancy.

Bra shopping is an abomination unto Nuggan. But wearing a bra that doesn't hurt does make life a lot better. Glad to hear all is well!

I know I'm late to the party (and I always mean to drop by people's diary, but every time after reading thru it all, my time is up and I have to go so I end up not commenting) Lol, anyways...........I just wanted to say a huge congratulations on your precious bundle of joy Tru, what a blessing, you truly are AMAZING.......sending you lots of love and positive thoughts during the remainder of your pregnancy and praying for a safe delivery.

PS: Your fitness advice is always appreciated as far as I'm concerned! ;)
