[VENT]
As an experienced and highly qualified member here it give me the shits to be told by another member that I am reckless, putting the forum at risk and should "retract my advice" in a forum thread, despite only ever offering advice within scope of practice and backed up by supporting reputable links. It should be funny but having your qualifications and experience defamed is not a laughing matter. As a Moderator, I am usually easy going and will never use mod powers just to get rid of stuff I don't like, after all there is often bad advice given by new members but I instead educate and back it up with verifiable facts when I have time. I also prefer not to get into much debate when it comes to different diets as most diets will work and the same approach does not work for everybody, only saying something if there is outright dangerous or false info given, again this is backed up with appropriate evidence. My qualifications and experience are primarily in the scope of exercise and sports medicine, I am the first person an athlete (young or old) sees for injury prevention, fitness, acute injuries and often weight loss or muscle gain advice. For serious problems which I have referred on to appropriate specialist I will often be writing, supervising and implementing rehab programs when those same athletes are well enough to begin the process of returning to full activity. It always makes me chuckle a bit when I see my doctor after an injury of myself or a family member and he will say "you know how to treat this better than I do". Doctors are specialists in illness and disease, for injuries and diet they will refer patients to the people specialised in those areas whether that is a surgeon, physiotherapist, exercise professional, dietitian, sports trainer etc.
I feel more restrained in what I say to others as a Mod compared to when I was just a normal member.

On the up side I am very happy that an elderly lady (late 60s) I have been assisting has registered for her first competition, taking up the sport for good health and to meet others her age. Age is no barrier to taking up and learning new things and meeting new people.
