have to say, this one has a definite coolness factor (Etsy) and for $14 it comes loaded...!

Sounds like gourmet hiking!

Part of the requirements of the Uni is we need to actually cook, we cannot get away with just chucking a pre packaged hiking meal into a pot to rehydrate. I think is has a bit to do with demonstrating our understanding of preparing food for expeditions as there was stuff in the theory portion of the subject on differing types of food and how well they keep and the importance of eating well on an expedition for health, recovery and morale.

This all goes along with carrying of a few extra bit and pieces and knowing how to use them and knowing the capsize recovery techniques as this subject is all about being qualified to safely lead outdoor expedition of differing skill levels.

The outdoors can be dangerous, and there is no shortage of people who find themselves in difficulty every year with some paying the ultimate price.

Son 3 after watching me prep for this has been inspired to want to go camping again, the last time I took him camping he was a lot younger so I carried the water and equipment for 2 people on the north end of the Cooloola Great Walk. Next time he can carry his own gear lol

Good morning all,

It will be a big day of study today as I have to prepare an A4 infographic for sports psychology. I will probably focus on goal setting theory.

My portable speaker has died, so will take a notebook into the shed today so I have some music to get me through the cardo session and to work on my injury prevention exercises. As much as I would rather be lifting I need to stay fresh for Monday.

Sounds really interesting. What's the topic?

The task premise is that the infographic is aimed at a coach who is struggling to progress their athletes from regional competition to the national championships.

Goal setting theory has an effect on athlete focus, skill acquisition, motivation, anxiety and self determination.

I know from experience that most local and regional level sports coaches have poor skills with helping athletes setting effective goals to achieve the outcomes they are looking for, so my infographic has a focus on improving those skills.

Goal setting energizes athletes to become more productive and effective.(Latham & Locke, 2007)

I will post up the infographic once it has been assessed, it is the final assessment piece for my sport and exercise psychology class at Uni.

I am getting better at making these, the uni is moving away from a lot of essays in the area of sports science and focusing on developing the ability to communicate specialist info to the general public in a way that can be understood.

My head feels like it wants to explode, but the info graphic and reference sheet are done, it may not be due until the 23rd but the hike for outdoor ed will take up time I could be studying and I need all the time I can get for the anatomy theory exam.

Not very happy this afternoon. Chicken, destroyer of gardens and bane of vegetables, scratched out a variety of plants in the garden :flame::boxing:

That's neat. I don't coach at the moment, but I did coach for about 7 years everything from Fundamental Movement Skills to 5-7 year olds to basketball to 8-18 year olds. One thing we did do with those in Junior high up was ask for individual and team season goals - so maybe we were onto something :).

I agree, the average person isn't going to read scholarly papers. The more information that can be shared and interpreted with the community, the better.

I am back, so sore I can barely move, will type more in a couple of days lol, some pics posted in the what I saw on my walk thread

OK the trip did not run completely as planned, National Parks changed to permit for the group from hiking and kayak to canoe and kayak at the last minute.

I was in a canoe for the trip to the campsite, wind was against us in some areas but river was smooth near the campsite, nobody fell in to become shark bait (Bull Sharks are common in the lake and river) after camp setup we did go for a short hike to discuss local vegetation, birdlife and historical uses of the land.

Day 2 the wind picked up a lot, I was in a kayak for the return trip and before the large lake crossing we went through the procedure of assisting capsized canoes and canoes in need of towing using two kayaks, the waves were breaking over the top of all watercraft. I do not have any pics for this as it was to rough to take any kind of break on the crossing.

We all made it back, soaking wet but no one went for a swim.

I am still very sore today but it is not completely debilitating after 2 full days of upper body and core work lol

Also - No Sunburn :D

Sitting in a kayak/canoe for so long much have been rough on your hips. Sounds like great fun though! No sunburn would be a major victory for me :D

It was

I was sooo locked up in my hips I had to wriggle out of the kayak at the end in a very awkward way and almost fell out twice because I couldn't stand up, however, hips are feeling ok today but my shoulders, upper back, abs, biceps and brachiordialis are VERY sore.

:) Muscle soreness is a deserved price. Glad your hips recovered so quickly!
