Let's see how keto works.. one month hardcore cut with weekly pics!

The bold is the old?
Fixed. Thanks.

I had some of that keto chocolate ice cream that I made for the first time today.

Wow.... it tasted exactly like regular chocolate ice cream. I ate it with heavy cream and that made it taste even better than chocolate ice cream..... wow that was good.

In the gym I was struggling to get through the workout. I was just off my game, forgot my water bottle, tanktop, etc. Everything seemed heavier than usual.

I decided to carb-up because of that. I haven't been having much post workout carbs so I figure I might be kinda carb depleted.

I didn't stuff myself this time, which is good.

When you don't eat carbs for a long time, though, you feel really stuffed when you eat meals made up mainly of them. I feel really bloated.

I had a nice carb up, ate about 400g or so, lots of oats, veggies, cereal... nothing fancy, though.

I went right back into keto today, I like these half day carb ups much better than a two day ordeal. I will do one again on Saturday after a big workout and continue doing them every Saturday... at least until I get off of keto.

I still plan to just stay on this diet until my next body fat test (not this friday, but the next) and see if I gained any muscle.. and minimized fat gain.

If I failed on either of those goals I will switch back to a regular diet and bulk... seems like the carbs are pretty necessary to gaining mass.

I suppose if I don't gain any muscle and don't gain any fat I might try a targeted ketogenic diet, where I have 25-50 grams of carbs pre workout and then 25-50 more after my workout.... we shall see.

By the way, I was already showing positive on the ketostix today by 5:00, that is a very fast switch time... I ate over 275 grams of fat today too.. man that sounds so insane!

I have been eating tons lately. This diet is weird, though.

For the first four days of the diet I was eating 1,000 calorie surpluses or so and not gaining any weight. Then I had an 8 hour carb up, gained four pounds, and haven't dropped or gained since then.. haha. I am eating about 3500-4200 calories per day. Apparently you can eat huge amounts of food and not gain fat on this diet... I am putting that to the test.

I feel fatter for sure, and my waist size has increased. I am guessing that I gained a pound of fat or so, perhaps more. We will see on Wedneday.

I need to keep bulking though. If I gained over half a pound of fat on this keto diet I am just going to go back to a regular diet for my bulk, it's so much easier to bulk with carbs I think.

Its been one month exact. So what are the results?

Well I stopped cutting a week ago and posted my results from the cut there.

Right now I am doing a keto bulk. I am not sure how long I will continue with this diet, I will make up my mind to continue with this or switch to a regular diet at my next bodyfat test.

I might change to a targeted ketogenic diet too.. we'll see.

wow, check out my fitday.

I ate nearly 5500 calories today and i'm not force feeding myself, I was hungry for it all... and I didn't move like at all today.

If I ate this much with carbs in my diet I would be ready to explode.

Jaysus that's a lot of food. I'll try to match ya for my keto break-in, but I don't think I'll be able to do more than maybe 3000 cals a day for a few days before my appetite disappears entirely.

I'm a little worried about what pure keto (no cycling or anything or a month) will do to my fast strength gain, but I won't find out for a week.

LOL, I know.. it's crazy! I only gained a pound all week and I averaged 4,000 calories per day! This diet is just so weird... where's all the food going?! ya know??

Yeah, my appetite dissappeared after like 10 days... I ate 2,600 or so calories to ease into the diet.

Yeah, going with no carb up for one month isn't as bad as it sounds. You are suppose to wait at least two weeks before your first one.

As far as strength gains, I guess only time will tell eh?

it seems as if all this eating has helped me in the gym a lot! Everything felt really light today. So I decided to lift some heavy weights. It was my upper body day, I got on the bench and did 135 X 10 to warm up and it felt like just repping the bar... good feeling.

So I bumped it up to 165 X 10
185 X 7
205 X 3
and I realized that I was pretty wiped out after doing the 185 X 7 so I did
175 X 8 for my final set.

I was busting out the chin ups like they were nothing, my military press felt great, bi's and tri's all strong.... great workout! I was really pumped up for it before I started, so again, the body-mind connection!

It's all in the mind! A lot of it anyway..

Sounds good, nice benching, how much you military pressing?

I actually just incorporated the military press into my routine recently so i'm not really trying to lift heavy with it, usually doing sets of ten. I will up the weights soon.

I am doing 80-100 pounds on MP . Sets of ten.

Depends on how much you weigh, a 100lb military press isn't bad at all.
If you can military press your BW thats supposed to be "good"

I'm pressing 115, and my 1RM is 130. Keep it up.

Dang. Nice workout, there.

I definitely agree with the body-mind connection. I've been trying to catch myself, and I've noticed that almost every time I "just can't" make a lift, it's because there's a little voice in my head telling me so rather than because I've got nothing left physically.

I know exactly what you mean! I notice this myself mainly when doing pullups.. One set of ten pullups can seem like hell depending on how I look at it, then other times if I am pumped up for it I can bust them out like it's nothing.

I think on squats I may be a bit guilty of letting my mind take over there too.

Mainly because pullups and squats are the most grueling lifts, for me anyway.

Well I got my bodyfat tested today. The only measurement that moved substantially was my abdomen (remember when I said I felt fat in my gut after the carb up where I gained four pounds?).

The rest of my measurements stayed just about the same, in fact a few even went down, but this could just be error. Some went up very slightly.

But yeah, my abdomen gained a full milimeter, or went from a reading of 11.8 to 12.8.

I ended up gaining about six pounds in 11 days (sick ****), and only .7 of it was fat gain, mainly in my abdomen. I am going to have to guess that this was due mainly to that carb up! Right?

I was at a decision point, I could either continue with my cyclical keto diet and bulk, cut with my cyclical keto diet for a short period of time (1-2 weeks), switch to a targeted ketogenic diet and bulk to gain the extra benefit of carbs around your workout for better muscle growth and apparently performance in the gym, or just say hell with keto and build tons of lean mass with a regular diet at the expense of more fat gain....

It was a really hard choice...

I made up my mind to do a 2 week Targeted Ketogenic Diet bulk and see what my results are from that... I hope to keep the fat gain to almost NONE and gain extra muscle with the help of the extra insulin/carbs. Since I have access to a trainer that does body fat tests I figured it would be a good idea to experiment and see how well it works.

What do you guys think??

P.S. I freaking love keto... I averaged over 4,000 calories per day and only gained a small amount of fat.

P.P.S. I actually went off of creatine for the past month, I currently weigh 162 in the mornings, I am going to reload on the creatine tommorrow.... with the combined effect of the creatine and the extra carbs I will be over 170 in no time!

another awesome day of unrestricted eating... 5400 calories today. I feel lean still too.

I started the targeted keto diet today... it was sweet.

I have had diarrhea the past couple of days... it just now dawned on me what was causing it.

I started putting stevia in my tea a couple days ago and completely forgot that it can cause gastic bypass (diarhea) if used in large amounts.

Just figured you'd all like to know...:p Would work well as a laxative..
