New diary to help keep me on my toes.

I set up a one to lose weight prior to my wedding and although I didn't use it much the site and fellow members helped me to lose 21.5lbs in 12 weeks.

I think I can still do better, I am currently 202 and aiming for 170, In the last 12 weeks I have had the holiday period and a stag do along with a wedding.

For lent I will give up alcohol, and stick ridgidly to my Slimming World eating plan, along with a weekly 40 mile jogging to and from work commute and 10 mins per day body weight and small weight exercise regime, I think I can manage 3lbs a week over 6 weeks of lent taking me to 18bs and I will stick the extra 2lbs in for good measure to get a nice round figure.

This time I will be logging evertything daily, so if you see anything in the diary which you think may help me please chip in.

I am male 32, although I will be 33 in a couple of weeks, 5'8", 202lbs. My job is sedintary but I do jog 4 miles to and from work which has seen the weight start to come off but more importntly my health improve.

Day1 (week1)
well my starting weight is a little higher than i thought at 205lbs, a little bit of married bliss (add in a couple of takeaways, meals out to celebrate with beers).

But I am happy with 205, which means my 40 day target is 185lbs. Took a first photo this morning, I will post all 40 at the end.

Jogged in to work as per usual, 737 cals gone, and I am starting the day with tomatoes and a pint of water for breakfast as I type.

I think updating this daily will keep me motivated.

See you all later folks.

thanks for the support, I have left my wallet at home meaning I can't go to the onsite shop and buy crisps etc and i made my lunch up last night, if I can stay focussed I should manage.

Heya Durham Lad,what a brilliant idea this is.I will enjoy reading your updates and seeing how you're doing!
I to am entering the Lent spirit to and giving up chocolate :D Good luck with sticking to yours, but i'm sure you will as you're got the right spirit!Taking photos is such a good idea to,I wish I had done that right when I first started.
All the best for the future 40 days and hitting your target! Look forward tp reading more soon!

Hey, im using lent as the kick up the arse motivation i need aswell!, best of luck to you and i cant wait to see the before and after photos :)

Thanks for the lovely comments one and all, they are the main reason I use the site, in the following order.

3. Accountability
2. Advice
1. Support

It is great as people are in the same boat so realise what you are going through.

Well work day 1 over and its went well. now a jog home and pick the child up from the childminder, get him off to bed, do the ironing and have the tea ready (pasta with tomato sauce and chicken) for the wifes return from work. The busy day of a modern man.

Hey :)
Good luck with the 20lbs, that's how much I'm hoping to lose over Lent...
Although you do realise lent actually lasts 47 days?! I only found out today.
40 days takes you to Palm Sunday, 47 to Easter Sunday. It's only 40 days because Catholics don't count Sundays in it.
I literally found out today!!!!

Good luck anyway :) Taking a picture is a great idea, you could make a video of them afterwards so you can see yourself shrink like they do on Youtube!!

Day 2 (week1)
Well yesterday went well, change of plan for dinner, we had chicken breast tortilla wraps, with peppers, onions and mushrooms (free on slimming world green days, with the chicken as my healthy extra).
I had beans at lunch and snacked on fruit (apples and an orange), I drank water and coffee, and had 1 glass of diet dandelion and burdock.

Also finished the day with a workout from mens fitness (they gave a way a booklet with 7 sets of bodyweight exercises in).

yesterdays was 4 sets of

Squats 15reps
Press ups 15 reps
Lunges 15 each leg
uppercuts 15 eagh arm
woodchop 15 reps
high knee jogging 15 each leg

My calories for this was 97 in 10:36
I jogged to and from work (4 miles each way) 1433 calories total

meaning my total calorie burnt through exercise yesterday was 1530.

Sounds like a brilliant day! Those exercises sound fantastic!Keep that up and goodness me there will be no stopping you!!
Your meals sound great to (and yummy!) plus ahhh I haven't had dandelion and burdock for such a long time! You have reminded me of it's brilliance.I rememeber the first time I ever had it,my dad came over to me and said 'this is the worlds strongest bear-observe it's colour!' :D haha.
Anyway!I hope you have an equally good day today to!

It went well because i planned, i was shocked because mentally i pictured hours spent slaving making meals and thousands spent being healthy. But

1. our food bill was about £20 cheaper this week, less processed rubbish and buying fruit and veg (plus the fact i am not buying crisps etc at work).
When shopping I bought 6 bananas 82p, 6 apples 89p and 6 oranges 59p. total for work snacks £2.30 (also just having water FREE!!!)
Compared to previously 1 packet of crisps per day 65p x 5 = £3.25 and 1 can of coke zero per day 70p x 5 = £3.50 Total £6.75

So I am saving £4.45 per week, added to the fact, fruit came out of the weekly shopping budget, so in reality i have saved even more.

I slaved last night making dinner for a massive 20 minutes, it then took me a huge 10 minutes to wash and dry the dishes and make lunches for the child, the wife and me.

So I can conclude it is not more expensive to eat healthily and to make dinner for 2 and lunches for 3 and wash and dry the dishes took only 30 minutes.

yesterday went well again another 1400 or so calories burnt jogging and exercising.

today is the real test a night out with the boys tonight, so i think i will stick to lime and soda, i have beans for lunch and a bag of fruit at my desk, 1 pint of water down so far, off to the cooler to get another now.

hope everyone is well catch you all soon.

well the weekend went well, didn't give in and drink, I just thought about my long term goals.

we went for a family swim yesterday so it was nice to get in the pool.

today has started well, soup for breakfast (home made veg broth) fruit at my desk to snack on and i have spaghetti for lunch, dinner is being made by the mother in law which will be a lamb chop recipe from the slimming world cook book.

I am a big rugby fan so this has been a great weekend to watch the 6N. now i am a bit healthier i may join a local club. I feel really happy in the sunshine today.

good day yesterday, ate and drank well, added to the jogging commute and body weight exercises, I am feeling well.

today is a different kettle of fish, no jogging (will be exercises when i get home) but i have an interview this afternoon for a permanent job with a large multinational in newcastle. so the travel will be a bit longer but big payrise and good benefits so lets hope it goes well.

will drop in on people later.

quite a good day yesterday food wise, no jogging, but a fair bit of walking for this interview, which went well 2nd interview next week.

back to jogging in this morning, had tuna for breakfast and a cup of coffee, so lets see how the day goes.

Fruit bran for breakfast and a can of coke zero (a little treat, I got a call from the job I applied for to say I had a 2nd and final interview as I was one of 4 people out of 50 tested who scored 100%)

beans for lunch and a couple of oranges to snack on, i am feeling much healthier at the moment.

I didn't get weighed as I was at the first interview during slimming world, so I will have to wait for the weight loss to see how I have done, but most importantly at the moment I am feeling healthier and have far more energy.

Jogged in again, weather was just right, although really sunny now, so I think the jog home will be a bit hot.

noodles for lunch, had fruit for breakfast, don't know what for dinner yet.

I have no doubt that i am losing weight, everything seems to be going well.

oh well a long weekend without posting, has my final interview yesterday for a new post so had the day off, plus I turned 33, so a day off exercise free on my birthday.

jogged back in today felt really good, i think i have found the perfect pace, started jogging slightly slower than previusly, however, ran my 2nd fastest time to work as i felt full of energy and just kept going all the way at a nice steady rate.

well off to slimming world tonight for the first weigh in of this little challenge, target would be 6lbs off, but i will be happy with 4lbs (note this will be for 2 weeks as i did not get weighed last week).
