Lena's corner

omg thanx everyone for support :) i feel the love in here hehe

things are really good for me these days, and venice you're right i don't wanna jinx it :) i can only hope next week i'll have 214 lbs :) i know it may not seem much, but its my mini goal (its my first 10 kg) :)

i didn't stop by much yesterday cause it was so nice outside so i went for some coffee with Tina and then to my workout :) i think i'm gonna have to change that workout soon. i enjoy the routine but the instructor is getting as bit rude towards everyone. yesterday everyone was a bit tired and we were following the routine a bit hard, and she got angry instead of motivating us. i know she's under a lot of stress cause she's getting married soon, but she doesn't have to use us as her punching bag. sorry little vent here lol
anyway next week i'll have some busy working out schedule: monday my usual workout, tuesday i'm going to that tae bo class, wednesday i'll try salsa moves aerobics, thursday its my usual workout and on friday i'm going to the gym lol
i'll be probably completely beat, but i can do it. can i?

Yes, you can do it. It's a nice variety of things, so no one place in you body get's overly stressed. Sounds like a real nice plan! :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your 214. 10 kgs is amazing, and I hope you get there soon!!! :D
Julie

Remind your Instructor who pays her bills !!

I must say, your workouts schedule is pretty impressive  You'll blow right past 214 in no time :)

Keep pushing Lena :)

thanx juliette for keeping your fingers crossed :) i don't think i ever managed to lose this much weight in such short period of time (well not short, but it seems short-3 months) because i never done it so easy. its hard but its easy hehe. well definitely easier than any diet i've been on lol. it just takes some organizing.

in croatia now its popular this so called UN diet. or 90 day diet, i don't know if anyone heard of it. people are losing weight, i gotta admit that one. it consists of
1 protein day, 1 starch day, 1 carb day and 1 fruit day. The order of these days has to be followed as said. Breafast is always the same: pair of fruits (2 apples, 2 pears, etc). I'll write it in detail if someone wants to hear. all i know is that lunch and dinner are the same on given day (for example on protein day lunch can be 3 pieces of meat, like three chicken breast fillets etc, 1 slice of whole wheat bread and salad (lettuce) in quantity you choose, and then some clear soup) dinner is same only without soup). i don't know if this diet came from US or what. just wanted to see what are your ideas, since some of my coworkers are on it. i think its ok, but as soon as they get back on their usual type of eating i think they will get it back.

hehe thanx T2 i just might remind her. the problem is she thinks she's being funny but she' comes off really rude. i guess she thinks she's doing us a favor.

Lena hang in there girl, sounds like your instructor is suffering from serious PMS!!! YOUCH!! Your doing such a great job in your work outs, I'm very impressed. That salsa class sounds like a lot of fun, let me know what you think of that. I take a class called Group Groove, it's a one hour high impact class, with a little Hip Hop, Mamba, Salsa, and a lot of groove, it's so much fun. Dancing sure is a great way to lose weight without even knowing your doing it, because it doesn't feel like work. What is your normal food intake for the day?? What do you usually consume for breakfast lunch and dinner?? I'm in a rut and need some good food advise. :D

Good Morning Lena,
I personally could not do a regimented diet plan. It would be a set up for "failure" on my end ;) However, it still boils down to calories, there are still fewer calories going in and weightloss can happen. I tend to think you're right though, for a good many people, going back to the way they were normally eating will cause them to regain the weight.

As for your instructor - I would definitely say something to her - privately and nicely, but nonetheless get the point across that she isn't coming across funny at all.

Randy is right - you guys are paying her!

wow i'd love to try your work out. i love dancing :)
i'll post my food for today in next post so you can see what i eat. :) my usual calorie range goes between 1700 and 2000, i tend to eat around 1800.

the reason why i'm avoiding that UN diet is because i don't want a quick fix. sure, its working, i can tell on lot of people, but i want to learn how to eat normally and learn how to control and discipline myself. no diet in the world will help me do that unless i go from the start. its like learning to walk for me.

and i decided to say something to that instructor if she continues to be bitchy.

remember my jealous coworker? today she told me that she's been jealous of me but that she likes me etc. i told her to please stop with her envy cause its pissing me off. an hour later i hear she's still comparing herself with me)asking people if she's thinner than me). what the f***??? strange woman i tell you.

and just to post my food for today (mainly for Kim lol):

breakfast: two thin slices whole wheat bread with turkey breast ham and low fat yogurt
snack: one probiotic low fat yogurt and one banana
lunch: subway roasted turkey breast salad w green lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and olives, topped with balsamico sauce
snack: one dark chocolate bar
dinner: pasta bolognese and one spring onion

i'll probably have an orange or an apple later. this seems a lot of calories but it actually isn't that much...around 1750, i really keep track that my portions are under control.

and for better view at my menue hehe, here's yesterday's menu:

breakfast: kellogs special k with low fat yogurt
snack: probiotic low fat yogurt and an apple
lunch: brown rice mushrooms risotto
snack: apple and two slices of ham and two slices of cheese
dinner: one plate of thick bean soup w one slice of wholewheat bread

Happy Friday Lena,
It seems we like a lot of the same food items. :) Thanks for sharing that with me. Beans are one of my favorites, and I can eat them plain or wrapped in something. I always bring an apple to work too. See cool minds think a like my friend!! And on that skank of a co worker, just blow her off, your gorgeous and she's jealous, and doesn't that just make you proud of your accomplishments. She just happens to be the type of person who constantly needs reasurrance from others to validate herself and her accomplishments, OR simply put, "INSECURE" You are better than that, so don't let her annoyance be your downfall. Your doing great!!:D ;)
Kim

Lena, Thank you so much for the REP!! I just found out what that means. I'm very flattered and very appreciative!! Have a great day!!

Congratulations on your finish in the essay contest.. you're essay was outstanding and I'm so glad you were a winner - though I knew you were a winner anyhow :) well done.. :D

Yes, well done--I loved your essay! Interesting, my great grandmother on my dad's side was a Slav Immigrant. Hmmm, she was from Geary...don't know how to spell it....

Congratulations on your essay!
I just sat down and read it and felt things stir inside. I have not lived the war. But my people know the deep scars that war outside the front-lines leaves. The scars go on to the next generation and the one after that. The last war here ended officially over 60 years ago when my parents were children. After that the Finnish people struggled through the worst times by being silent. The bad things weren't talked about. Everybody was trying even not to think about them. But the hatred did not go away. And not talking about the most tragic moments of their lives lead people to not talk about much of anything important. So here we are, the people known for being mute in many different languages.
People still rather keep quiet about things than talk about them. Hence a lot of psychological problems, obesity, suicides, aggressive behaviour, alcoholism, all of them passing from generation to generation. And the only way of breaking the cycle is to open up and talk about all the difficult things, in many cases starting from the wars of 20th century, then maybe your own lifetime, and when you've got that off your chest...
What you've done on your essay, is break the cycle before it has begun. You've given us an example of how saying the things you fear the most you can be liberated from them and truly go on in your life free of the burden of silence. Thank you!

thank you mal. you calling me a winner means a lot more than any prize in the world.

Thanx Val i appreciate you reading my essay :) I tried to decode the Geary thing but failed lol. Which country is your great grandmother from?

Congratulations on your essay!

Thank you juliette this was very beautiful and you touched me a lot with this post.
Its so strange how people tend to be silent. its like keeping silent will take the pain away. unfortunately in many cases it only makes it stronger. Minorities faced a lot of hardship in last two world wars, not to mention the others 'civil' ones they've lead. this problem is a big part of my life since i'm neither majority nor minority. and this is probably the biggest reason why i'm so interested in theories of nationalism and why i'm off to master to study exactly that.
Its very hard to say things out loud. but i guess i'm doing that a lot lately. i'm finally giving myself voice. and that is definitely liberating.
Thank you :)

sooo i had a long conversation with my mom. i told her i'll be going to see Goran (my bf) in about two weeks. she looked at me like i'm insane. so i told her to stop meddling in my life. if my forgiving him is a mistake it will be my mistake. she's afraid i will be hurt again, and i do understand her, she doesn't want to see me cry, but i also told her that by saying these things she's hurting me and my judgment. and asked her not to speak like that of him and our relationship again in that way. she said: "i don't care, do what you want!"
well if you don't care then don't say anything. why can't she just be there for me???? she's acting like he broke up with her and not me. it really makes me angry.

I definitely agree with you about the diet Lena. While there might be the occasional person who could benefit overall from that sort of diet I think most of us would be taking a big risk if we tried a diet like the one you described. It has to be an uncomfortable temporary plan and most of us are like you - looking for a way to be healthy in the long term.

At best it would be irrelevant - but many people, myself included, have gained a lot of weight over the years from the rebound effect when those sorts of diets are over. I've even been in a position where after losing weight nicely for 2 months, I tried something regimented when my weight loss slowed a little, and the next thing I was back into cravings and weight gain and once again heavier than when I started. I may be a slow learner at times but some things are too in your face for me to miss. I am happy to be over that sort of dieting. :)

You must be really looking forward to your time with Goran. It must be hard living in different places right now.

HI Lena, I wanted to stop by and say hello, Im also glad you chose to go with healthier choices and not the quick fix. Have a wonderful day
Michelle :)

Oh Lena,
Your mom really needs to learn that for you to be able to make decisions for yourself - you have to make decisions for yourself.

You are responsible for making your own way in life and will learn from your choices, right, wrong and indifferent.

She'll learn that eventually - it's just very hard for a mom to do.
When she does, she'll be able to see you as a grown up :)

@felici
i agree with you completely. i don't trust diets that tell you eat this way now and when you reach your goal return to eating the way you were. no thanx. i hope to be eating like this for the rest of my life.
as for Goran and me it really is difficult to be living apart, but we've done it for almost six years, and just shown that even if we didn't see each other for 9 months the chemistry is still there lol.

@ Deb
the weird thing about my mom is that she acts like this now when i'm almost 30. her reaction is definitely too hard. my moving away to budapest will probably give her a better perspective lol. you americans have no idea how good you live when you're able to move away from home earlier lol.

btw yesterday i ended up clubbing hehe. but my night started off by me being in my pajamas at 8pm and i was almost asleep when tina called and begged me to go out (we talked around 7pm and we both weren't in any mood to go out haha), so i got dressed and went out, and off course it was awesome hehe. we were at our favorite place, getting our usual drinks from our waiters and then some very old friends came by who we haven't seen in very long time, so we had lots of fun. i danced so much, i can definitely count it as my workout :D

Lena,
Some moms are slow to learn ;) You'll help her see it through!

The dancing sounds like FUN!! Good for you for getting out of those jammies!
