Lemons

This may be a dumb question but I was wondering if lemons are harmless in trying to do lose weight. I mean using them as a dressing in salad or sometimes I like to squeeze out some juice on my eggs. Is there anything wrong with this?

Most citrus fruits have a very low glycemic index (that is they are low in simple sugars and high in complex carbs), hence their somewhat tart taste, and are therefor good to eat if you are trying to loose fat (aren't we all?).

That said however, I do not think the small amount of lemon juice you use to flavor your food could have any significant dietary impact, no matter what it contained.

I agree. its almost no calories, and can add a lot of flavor.

here's a tip too...get a zesting tool...looks like a tiny cheese grater. a tiny bit of orange, lemon, or lime zest adds a buttload of flavor to dishes, especially chicken, and especially for stir-fry.

The acid in lemon will lower the GI of a carb which will in turn lower the insulin spike during the carb meal. This will reduce the promotion of fat storage if you are taking in a fat with the carb.

I aways pour in about a teaspoonfull of lemon juice concentrate into my bottled water (after I take one swig out of the bottle) just to give it some taste.

Lemon juice and zest makes things taste 10x better. So obviously it will help you choke down nasty tasting diet food. So indirectly it can definitely help.
